I checked the vsf-usa.org site and it does say dba United States Armed Forces Association (I was called tonight). I asked that they send me the information and envelope rather than give them credit card information over the phone. They seemed okay with doing this. I'll see what (or if I even get) the information in the donation envelope says. I, also, am opposed to giving donations over the phone. Too many scams out there.

Well, this is just another attempt to steal peoples' money.  First it's the Police Association scam artists and now this.  They use the ruse that the suicide rates in the army are high and the caller is looking for compensation in the form of a donation.

Yah, and as others pointed out, if you decline, the caller gets on a bit of a hissy-fit.

What good is having your phone number on the DO NOT CONTACT list by the FCC.  I thought they weren't allow to contact you.   I'm tired to everyone calling and not leaving a voice mail.
I've registered and re-registered with the DO NOT CONTACT list by the FCC and phone calls continue.
Why can't the Federal Government stop this.   I don't have a phone for HARASSing phone calls.

In answer to Gayle's comment that they are legit, why is the website info 3 years old (2008)?  And why would the organization be listed as DBA (doing business as)?  Too fishy to me!

They called me actually claiming to be the US Army.  When I asked how they got my number, he said "We're the US Army, we have everyone's number".  He wasn't rude as some people experienced, but he was pushy, asking why I was choosing not to donate to help soldiers in Iraq.

This has to be a scam.  Or, as one person noted, a for-profit company that maybe sends a little money to troops and otherwise uses ethically questionable tactics to make a lot of money for themselves.

As soon as any of these types of callers say my name and start their pitch I lay the phone down and walk away for a few minutes and when I get back to where the phone is I hang it up. This is better than getting into arguments with the callers - another tip if you answer the phone and there is no one there press the # button quickly six or seven times in a row - this confuses the calling machine which is trolling phone numbers for a voice so they know when you are home and can have a person call you.

It's because your worthless congressional representatives made an exception for political parties and anyone asking for donations - and I do mean anyone - no matter how criminal the scam!  Reregistering will do you no good.  Contact your politicians.  And NEVER, NEVER, give to ANYONE over the phone.  You will regret it the rest of your life.  Even if you change your phone number later, in this computer age, they will find you again.  And they will sell your information to anyone and everyone, and the number of calls will multiply a zillion times.  Count on it.

Caller-id said UNAVAILABLE, left no message.  I don't answer these types of calls and I certainly wouldn't donate to a charity that can't even leave a message.

Another telemarketer.  They don't always answer or are very rude when you say NO!  This phone number has been calling for the past week (30 times).  I have asked them to take me off of their list and not call but again to no avail.  As what everyone has reported there is no such company in the charitable organization database.  Why cannot someone do something about these companies that are not registered.  I will definitely not give one penny.  I can block the phone calls with the type phone I have but it does record when they call.  I am a vet of 29 yrs Air Force, I know the charitable organizations that are legit.  I have never heard of this organization and to say that 80% of a donation goes to managing and fund raising, no way, you are suppose to helping not lining your pockets for our veterans.
