- lisafrommarsI just got a call from them. To my shame, I did donate to them a few months ago, but for some reason this time I felt a little bit suspicious. Thank God this forum is here. I called them back and told them to remove my number and information from their database. Thank you!

- itisascam replies to found infothey are thieves do not give money to this group, they have other scams that they run
- John DiazI went as far as to ask them to send me some information in the mail, which they did. I was impressed when I saw in their brochure that they belong to the Combined Federal Campaign. They even have a code in order to look them up in the index of the CFC. Imagine my surprise when I searched for their name and then code number and it turned up NO results. What else can this be but a SCAM????!!!
- Peggy replies to GayleI do not donate over the phone, but I was so convinced that this was a worthy cause, I made a pledge and asked them to send me an envelope. Usually I check out charities through a website. This particular group seems quite evasive. I did not return the envelope and have received 2 more requests and 4 phone calls. They've probably spent close to $20 worth of reminders! The last lady who phoned rudely said "We've already called you 8 times, and we haven't received your pledge money yet! I'm returning the envelope with a note telling them both their credentials and methods are suspect and to take me off the list.
- TomI also received a call from US Armed Forces Association. I questioned there legitimasy and some of the answers were tax Id 13-3648561. 20% to charity and 80% administrative.

- babsmarie| 3 repliesI just got a call from the same association and would love to help our troops any way possible so I told them to send me a pledge card and I would check them out and send them money if they were legit. They said that I would be sending them $20 and the conversation was being recorded. I repeated that I would check them out first and only send them money if i thought they were legit. Looks like they're getting nothing from me.

- NotaVetThey are using another telephone number: 877-202-9821. I have received 9 calls in 7 days. Before I recognized the number, I figured out it was an outfit looking for money based on the delay between my answer ("Hello?") and any response. This outfit is almost certainly a set of con artists plying their trade.

- ??? replies to Concerned| 1 replyI received the same call. I agreed to donate by mail, then was transferred to another "operator" who verified my address, etc. then asked if I would be paying by credit or debit card. I said I would be paying by mail after I received the donation packet. She gave me attitude and gave a quick, rude thank you and hung up. I called the number back and the answering machine voice was that of the telemarketer. I have received the packet and completely ignored it. I checked with the BBB, Federal Trade Commission, and another group and all show no matches for this organization. They cannot possibly be legitmate.
- Katie replies to A. Morris| 2 repliesI also asked about the percentage that went to the veterans and was told cheerfully, "Oh, it's 80-20". I questioned if the 80% went to veterans and was told in a rather annoyed voice, "no, 20".
I should add that they called under the pretense of checking on a pledge which was made to them. Neither my husband or I recall ever pledging to such an obviously fake organization in the first place - and we check everything out before committing. - Mary replies to Dr_DanI just got the call from these folks. Very rude and pushy. My emotional reaction was pissed off. I told them to clean up their tone, if they are legitimate.
- sue I was scammed I sent a money order replies to Katie| 1 replyI was scammed I sent them a money order should I be worried?

Despite written BBB Wise Giving Alliance requests in the past year, this organization either has not responded to Alliance requests for information or has declined to be evaluated in relation to the Alliance’s Standards for Charity Accountability. While participation in the Alliance’s charity review efforts is voluntary, the Alliance believes that failure to participate may demonstrate a lack of commitment to transparency. Without the requested information, the Alliance cannot determine if this charity adheres to the Standards for Charity Accountability. A charity's willing disclosure of information beyond that typically included in its financial statements and government filings is, in the Alliance's view, an expression of openness that strengthens public trust in the charitable sector.
