Missed it - called back and got a recording verifying it WAS the US Armed Forces Ass'n asking to be clear when responding to the msg  and boasting of all the help they give to Active Duty and Vets.  You'd think I was speaking to a Bona Fide organization listing their qualifications for Sainthood!  When they finished I told them (in so many words) to "Get my name off your list and never call me again you buncha freekin leaches.  I'm a retired Vet, disabled, and with 34 years of honorable active service and I resent your trying to scam folks this way.  Drop Dead."

They most likely will ignore me, but it  sure as hell  felt good!

They called me tonight, all the caller id said that it was a toll free call.  I love to just turn on the speaker phone and keep about my business.  They waited a few minutes while i watched TV and finally they said hello several times and then just hung up.

They know your exact address too.  I wonder if the banks gave it to them.  I felt totally violated when he honked out my exact address.  This should be illegal!.

These are the types of people who should be stood up BEFORE sunrise and SHOT....with cameras and high-powered, maximum-velocity water hoses, by the families of Veterans who have either died or been injured/disabled/incapacitated. Because "execution" is too good for these b*st*rds!!! (I'm sorry....was that too intemperate, or just intemperate enough???)

Missed a call from these bottom feeders today -- found them on my missed call list.

The best investment I've recently made was a Panasonic Mdl KX-TGA641 wireless phone -- you can set any call to a block list, so you only get one call. Subsequent calls send a busy tone back to the caller. Really cuts down on the repeat calls.

Got a call from this number at 9:10 am.  I did not answer it but looked it up and found this web site.  I just wanted to comment on charities for vets that do call me.  First off VVA calls me to donate clothes or household items as I have donated before, and the caller ID says VVA not unavailable.  I have lived at my home for 20 years, and a Lady named Mrs. Rose has volunteered for at least that long, for Purple heart and the called ID states her name.  As for some charities the volunteers call from their homes.  But only for Clothes and household items.
    NEVER GIVE MONEY TO UNAVAILABLE!

I get so many SCAM phone calls, 800 numbers, 866 numbers, numbers who purport to be collecting for this or that charity ... I seriously doubt that the government would be making calls or hiring a company to make calls on it's behalf - to collect for the armed forces.  I give directly to the VA - not through a third party - that is either a scam, using our service people as a ploy to scam people - or making money and giving the individual charity $!!!   Take me off your list!  I do not want your calls.  I give when I can.  However, I am VA disabled - with no extra $!  No one helps me!

There is no correlation between the vfa and the united fake charity of america.  When I told the woman that i would prefer to just donate to vfa directly, she seemed disappointed and said that their fundraiser needs to go to them.....This is a major hoax.  Do not give them money!

The VA does have a good health care/disability program but I rate them a "0" as for a welcome home committee.
The do not call registry is a bunch of HOOEY!
Panasonic offers several telephone applications with a call blocking feature, Once the annoying number is programmed, the call is zapped after the first ring. It works extremely well and is worth every penny.

This is a Scam! DO NOT DO IT!  My uncle is in Afghanistan right now and my grandmother, his mother got a call this past thursday morning and they were able to get her to "donate" they are scam artists.. when she heard them say they send care packages she asked if it would go to my uncle and they said yes.. they listened and preyed on the fact that she had a son overseas and used that to their advantage, she proceeded to give them her check card information but they foolish scammer forgot to get the CVV number so fortunately no charges were made to her account.

I have had to since close her debit card, I contacted our local FBI department and also filed a report on the IC3.gov website which I encourage everyone else who has been contacted to do the same thing. It disgusts me that people would take advantage of people, military families or not in a time like this. My uncle is over there risking his life for our country and this scandalous organization took advantage of her kindness and compassion for all those are or have risked their lives for us.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME BY REPORTING THIS.   The number we were contacted by was 877-202-9821.

And just live above, when I tried contacting the number back to get some information about this, I called multiple times and always says the same thing, no ones available to take your call, we help vets and active military, blah blah blah..."

Please help take these scammers down, Thank you all.

and as for you "Found Info" you should be ashamed that you are trying to defend these people and but when push comes to shove your gonna get what you deserve if you think you can get away with taking advantage of people who are willing to help support any type of charitable cause and its people like you that cause people to not want to help or donate to anything because people are so afraid of being scammed.

I received the call from the number several times today as well. I agreed to donate but between being transferred to their "customer service" I heard the gentleman I was speaking to first say "BOOYAH" as in I got another sucker to agree to give a donation. I got suspicious when the perosn kept repeating that I was willing to give one amount when I had agreed to give twice that amount. No reputable charity will try to encourgae you to give less. I am definitely calling the States attorney offiec in the morning to report this as a "FRAUDULENT SCAM"

This is only one of the many harassing, phone numbers that used to call me.  Go buy a new cordless phone that blocks any number that you program in to it.  I bought the Panasonic KX-TG6413.  Best Buy or Amazon.  Now whenever my phone rings, it analyizes the number, and if it has been blocked by me, it sends the caller an immediate busy signal.  Now, when my phone rings, I listen for the second ring.  If it rings twice, I know it's a "friendly" call.  There are probably many phones that have this built in.  I don't own stock in Panosonic................but I guarantee this fixed my problem.

I was suspicious when they immediately asked for a credit card number. They weren't very happy with that but mailed me a pledge form and asked if I would send in my contribution as soon as possible. After reading other posts, I'm glad I waited to confirm. Just sent a check to the USO last week, so my conscience is clear.

vsf-usa.org has a great website and certainly appears to be a legitimate charity. They called me at home and when I asked the caller if they had a website he gladly gave me the info and told me to have a great day.

Scam alerts went off in my head when they called!  There are plenty of thes bloodsuckers out there.  They live off & feed off of the good nature of people and guilt you into "helping the troops".  Who would say no to our troops, aren't you Patriotic, aren't you a red blooded American, don't you love this country?  These people are vipers don't give them any money.  If you want to help out a vet, then do it !!!  Take one to dinner, help them fix up there house, shop for them, give them a job, take them out for a drink, donate electronics etc to AMVETS, offer to help out at VA hospitals & at VA events, but don't give these lowlife scum a penny.  You can usually tell a scam when they come at you for a cause that is sooooo pure, that there is NO WAY you can say no to their requests for money like: the troops, the children, & the elderly! ! !  It is almost always a scam...Just look at politics for a day, this is the #1 play in the playbook to milk money out of a trusting public.  Help the real American troops out when you can& do it in person.  NEVER provide money to these scams so we can help run them out of business!  Let them crawl back under the rock they live under!!!

I got the call and the 1st thing they said was they're registered with my state attorney general. Well, I thought that was strange. I told them I'd send money because I always tell them all that and they get off the phone that way. And I always tell them to send a letter, if they don't you know it's a fraud. They did send a letter but there are at least 3 different addresses on it and info that they are registered (financial info) with a number of states and either the AG or Sec of State, not anything else - and the dough goes to NJ. NJ?. They also have called back to "remind" me of my pledge, asked for my credit card number as a "convenience" that I refused, and then sent another "remind" letter - they really know how to play the sucker.

They haven't been rude probably because they think they have a sucker on the hook - likely next is to put me on a guilt trip for not sending the cash, a usual tactic, and then the rudeness to bully me to donate.

And bottom line, like many have said, if they aren't on the web, they likely aren't for real. And actually I never give to phone people anymore in the first place.

Another thing that's fun is break their scripted speech; ask them where they are, what state their in? They will usually stop and tell you. Then ask them how the weather is there? After a short conversation, they snap and try to get back to the speech - that's when I say no and hang up - they have then been scammed by me, hahaha.

Glad I found this site listing scams - all you guys watch out and thanks for the help in discovering the truth.
