A woman named Melissa left a voicemail about my student loans, saying urgent changes have caused something to go wrong on my account. I’m still in school, so I couldn’t determine what could possibly put me into repayment all of a sudden. She didn’t use my name in the voicemail, nor did she say where she was calling from. Her agent and reference number were super short and fake, so I knew this was a scam and did not call back. Looked up the number and found this site and all of these people with the same issue and now I know not to call back.

Add me to the list .  I have gotten  a couple of  calls from her.  I did attend college for a few weeks but was able to drop out at no cost.  Wasn't my thing.  So I don't have any students loans either and I never called her back.

Called my work number. Asian lady named Melissa gave gave me a reference number but didn’t say where she was calling from.  Informed me there had been urgent changes to my student loan account, it was time sensitive, and she would “extend my account until Friday” so I could call. caller id. showed the call came from Alhambra, California (626) 550-3823 but they gave me a toll free number 866-861-5070. I got the same call from Melissa Spence calling about my student loans. Her agent ID is 0136. She said it was urgent and that she would extend my deadline until Friday. I searched the number first which led me here. I called the number back just to see if I could get someone on the phone. It gave me 3 options...Press 1 for loans over 10K, press 2 for loans less than 10K, and press 9 if you think you received this call in error. I pressed 9 and it put me on a do not call list. I called the number back and now I get an operator that states the line is no longer in service or a busy signal. Total scam. Watch out, peeps.

I'm really glad I researched this before I returned the call. I received the same phone call today, but my loans are in deferment for at least another year.

I got same message from Melissa. I called back and I asked what company this was. The man asked me for my reference number and then told me since I had wasted 40 seconds of time, I would have to call back for the screening process, then hung up. Wow.

Same thing just happened now! The incoming number was (413) 402-2949 and said to call (866) 861-5070. I didn’t answer so they left a voicemail. It was also Melissa and said it was over my student loans and that she would extend the account but it was time sensitive! This is total bs lol.
