Hmmm....this is quite funny because I did contact my Uncle who is an attorney and he told me not to pay debt collectors that THREATEN! Vincent and other debt collectors that make threats are in violation of the FDCPA and I won a case over another debt collector because they were unwilling to work with me but told me I was uncooperative and they threatened me with a job loss and arrest.

And yes please learn how to spell.....

This "law office" has called me numerous times and has told me that I need to call back because they had an important business matter to discuss. They also called my grandma who was all scared for me because she thought I was in serious trouble. I spoke with them and I was told it was regarding a payday loan but they didn't state the company. I did take out a loan and then I lost my job and was having a lot of money problems so I got my bank account closed. I did contact the company that I took the loan out through and they set up a payment plan with me. I asked them if they were associated with Vincent's office and they said no. However they were assoicated with Vikings Recovery service and apparently Vincent shares the same office with them. The PDL company apologized to me and said that they are more than happy to clear up the confusion and make the payment plans with me.

I also contacted my Uncle who is an attorney and he searched up and down, high and low for them and couldn't find a thing. He said that you should always contact the company who you owe the debt to before paying collectors any money. If the company says that you need to pay the collection department, then get the information from them and call and try to work something out right away.

I dont know where you got your information from, but Vincient Cignarale is a licensed attorney. i received a call as well and was later served to appear in court concerning a debt that I owed with a payday loan company. I didn't read the fine print, like most of us don't and now I am having my wages garnished. Don't let these people on here tell you to ignore the phone calls from these law firms. A lot of Attorneys are getting into the debt business. One friend of mine even had her checking account frozen until she setup payment arrangements.

These [***] call for my Wife on a Debt that Has never, Doesn't and will never be a legitimate Debt. Right off begun talking to me about the debt without even asking for her. (FDCPA prohibits this without explicit permission from the supposed debtor)
After I figured out it was my Wife he was talking bout I asked when this debt occured. Said 2008.
I then proceeded to tell him the best way to talk to her was to hang up the phone, walk out the front door and stand in front of the biggest and fastest Bus, Truck or train he could find because she has been DEAD since 2002!
Needless to say he hung up right then and there and I have not heard from them since (5 days and counting!!)

Someone called my job today and left a message with my supervisor for me to call 1-877-289-9205 ext 322 - Chris at the law office of Vincent Cignarale. I am not calling them back. I have had a couple of calls from Viking but I have not idea what it is about because I do not answer private calls, blocked calls or calls from people or numbers that I do not know.

I have been receiving calls from this company for almost 2 months now, at both my place of business and my cell phone.  I have no idea how they even got my cell phone number!  They continously give me incorrect information about a payday loan I had from 2006.  I have worked with 2 other creditors on this payday loan, including Vantage Point last year.  I believed the debt was resolved.  The bank account they keep referring to has not been used in 4 years, yet they are trying to tell me the payday loan was deposited into that account 2 years ago.  When I informed them that I had paid this account off with a collection agency called Vantage Point, a person by the name of William Childs told me he was a liason for Mr. Cignarale and Vantage Point.  I pulled my bank statements showing my payments to Vantage Point, but so far I have not given any of this information to Mr. Cignarale's office.  There is just something that does not ring true with this company.  After reading these posts, I am glad I have not given them any information.  When they call again, I will request all documentation be sent to me via mail as well as proof of where they obtained the debt.  Thank you!!!!!

Not only are all your points true, these jerks get away with murder. Tip. Don't ever do anything over the phone. Always do it in writing only. When you tell them to send you copies by snail mail, chances are you will not hear from them again. Another thing I have learned in dealing with these "criminals" is they take the  old debt and enter it into the credit bureau as a recent debt. That is why when you get your credit report you will see double or triple enteries. Watch them. Tell them to take you to court. I received a call today from this dude on a debt that the statute of limitations had ran out. I called NY state attorney, and they said well the limitations does not run out. Well the debt did not occur in NY, therefore, they might as well choke on the pennies they spent buying the old debt. You go by the statute of limitations in your state. Do not let these goonies frighten you into handing over your bank account. They are .50 cent lawyers and nothing more. Take care and God Bless.

Do not speak to them over the phone. Tell them that you only do business in writing. Whatever you do, do not give them your personal information. These are what I call 50 cent lawyers.  They buy old debts, and try to pass them off to the credit bureau as a recent debt. Notify your credit bureau and have it placed in  your file that they are trying to collect from a debt that the statute of limitations has expired in the state where the debt occured.  They are in New York, and they will try to say there is no statute of limitations. They are so stupid they do not realize that the courts will go by the state where the debt originated. Even in New York the statute of limitations is around 3 years.  You cannot go to jail over a civil debt.  They will try to scare you into giving your personal information.  What ever you do, don't send any partial payments to them because if you do, they may have you. There is also a limitation on how many times they can call you per day. Check with you state and see where they cross the line and it becomes harassment.  Take care

Yea, what these jerks do is border-line illegal, and they get away with it. Our government is so crooked they just turn the other way instead of protecting the people against these white color criminals. It beats all I have ever seen and it is getting a lot worse as the years go by.

Do not do business with them over the phone. Do everything in writing to gather your eggs in one basket and have the proof you need against them. Call the credit burear and tell them what is going on because you will double entries of the same debt in your credit report. I have had as many as three of the same debt against me in the credit burear where the statute of limitations had expired.

    They're a scam!
They called my friend and in-laws, how'd they get the in-laws' phone number?  The number they called from was 716-748-8700.  I informed them that they would have to speak to my attorney and they said it was not a credit issue, where'd that come from?  He told me to have my attorney contact them-with what contact info, they never gave me any, I never received any correspondence from them and this is the 1st time they've ever contacted me, they tried to tell me it was a payday loan that I never repaid, what payday loan?  That it was fraud!  I think they should look up fraud in the dictionary and maybe they would find a picture of themselves.

Go get yourself spell check or a dictionary. If your spelling and grammar are anything to go buy then you quite simply demonstrate how uneducated all of you and your ilk actually are.

You can not arrest someone for a debt. Threatening to do so means that a debtor who is threatened to be arrested can sue a collector and the collection agency. If they threaten again get an attorney and sue them.

This is a legit office, that does pay day loans..u could get sue if u dnt pay ur debt, any debt...Some agency could even repo ur car-or any access u may have until the debt is pay.As a consumer u have right which also includes in paying ur debt. I dnt knw whats the issue with people using up cc & taking out loans if you dnt want to pay back.  Nothing is free in this world. Read the fine prints on all you get fees after fees if your late plus yrly.Seriously if you dont want them calling you pay up,thy also may just have a wrong # but if you dnt call back to verify it thy wont know. And if because you lost a job or your income went down then try to work out a pymt plan.  Word of advice unless they are an atty thy can not sue you,so if any collection agency call that say they are sueing-or jst plain rude you can sue them orif the collector dnt give you the mini miranda-you the this is attempt to collect etc. ya big time sue..lol  so jst dnt make debts and you be good..Good Luck to everyone...

To freddy sorry for your lost but this could off been fraud-thy might jst documented the acct as deceased any collection agency has access to ck if someone is deceased or find last known ## address, family etc,its legit as long as they dont give out any personal info..And for everyone else if the # is wrong ujst say so,, must off been your # belong to the debtor at one time. i know its annoying when they keep leaving message but if you call them back they will stop.  When a collection ageancy calls you sometimes their local # comes out but they leave their toll free#,and if you so dont believe the agency just call the person you owe the $$ too and they could clarified who they sold it too-and sometimes if its been awhile it could go threw like 4 different place until that person decides to pay.
