Same as above call but claimed it was for a title loan that i was late for. Asked for electronic payment. "CLICK"!

Newbie Attorney, fresh out of law school (UB Buffalo,
2004) Patrick Michael Corbett, 28, is already up to his
ears in trouble with the wrong crowd. Apparently
Patrick has succumbed to the pitch of criminal debt
collector Douglas J. MacKinnon by ‘renting’ his law
license out to this group of desperate debt collectors, for a piece of the action.

Corbett follows a long line of attorneys, who have fallen victim to the lies of instant riches from debt collection,
simply by ‘renting’ out his law license, so criminal debt collectors can extort monies from innocent consumers.

Newbie Lawyer Corbett apparently is unaware of the lies, deceit and broken promises suffered by his predecessors, not to mention the incredible financial bind and problems with the state bar that his association with this criminal organization is about to bring down on him.

One consumer attorney, familiar with this group and the
way they operate recently told me that newbie’s like Patrick are told they can make a ton of money in a short period, simply by allowing debt collectors to (falsely) claim they
are a law office, capable of bringing suit down on unpaid accounts, they purchased for pennies. Two of his recent predecessors lost their license from this same address they filed for more than a million dollars in bankruptcy. One other associated downtown (Franklin Street) Buffalo lawyer is up to his ears in an out of state lawsuit that may lead to his filing for bankruptcy protection, or possibly worse problems, for being both incredibly stupid and disgustingly greedy.

The problem with Corbett is he failed to do his homework,
or was too dumb to realize the consequences of his actions. He has ZERO experience in FDCPA litigation, an area of law that requires expertise and a lot of experience. So now it’s
up to those who read this to take actions, so he can be held accountable for the crime that is certain to be perpetrated under his name and law license.

I got a call today from an inspector Jeff Basil, informing me that a complaint was filed against me, and before a summons officer was sent to my home i needed to call 1-866-891-9725.
I called and got an answering message saying to leave a message so i did.
Of course i was freaking out, and even crying because i didnt want to get sued and or go to jail.
So I googled MN and WI attorneys with the name patrick corbett and nothing.  Then i decided out of curiosity to google the phone number and Here it was.  Im very relieved

Yes, he's at it still.  Of course I googled the phone number before I ever called him back.

Received a call from so called attorney Shawn Barns, claimed he had a case against me and wanted to ask some questions.

I don't expect to call him back after reading this!

I received a call as well. They also call a friend, my in-laws and my job looking for me. Saying they have a summons and complaint on me that has to be handled in 48 hours. Leaving this return phone number 1-1800-795-0831 and a case number, but you get the same recording as this 866 posted number. I also checked my local county court for any info and found nothing. I was really confused until I found this. I wont be returning any of their calls.

I was called abot this also...someone saying they were with Patrick M corbetts  office, saying they had a summons, and that I could take care of this in 48 hrs with payment.....Unfortunantly I fell for this because they had way too much information on me, now I have to call and cancel my credit card. They even sent me a letter with the name Southern Tier Agency Inc.  as the collection agency. everytime I call and leave a message they will not call me back. They do have my job number and have been calling there...I got news for them if they call me there again, they will be asked not to call back....if it continues, I will take action.

If they are reading this I advise them not to call me back, or I will file a suit against them!!!!

So ironically enough, I recently got a job as a debt collector myself.  One of the biggest things in training, is learning the FDCPA laws.
These people are just plain debt collectors and they are breaking the following laws.
They are not attorneys.  It is unlawful to claim you are an attorney or even suggest any sort of law suit or imprisonment or anything that isn't guaranteed to happen.  You cant even imply anything close to possibly having ANYTHING to do with court. In fact, debt collectors can't even use the word action.
Also.  It is unlawful to give a deadline for callback.  You also can't say Urgent or emergency.

They basically bully us and lie to us to "coax us" into paying our bills.  Which is illegal.  So they dont even have to call you back.  If you have messages, save them, or if you get more calls record them, because these people can be reported to the FDCPA

I received a call yesterday on my answering machine from Jasmine Ford of Patrick Corbett fraud task force saying that I have 24 hours to call them about current fraud case against me and that my court docket # is ______.
The call back number is 1-800-504-5734. I thought this name sounded familiar so I looked in a file and found a letter from Office of Patrick Corbett attorney at law, Corbett Law Office. I don't know how it can be legal to say that you are being charged with something and even call a case # a Docket #. I decided to google his name and have found several references to his phony claims. I will not be returning this call and hope he gets stopped from doing these things.

My son received a call at my house from Patrick Corbett. He said the same thing to me about court docket and summons to court. I to tried to look up Patrick Corbett Attorney At Law and found nothing! Sure glad I googled the name! About had a heart attack when he called!!!!!!! My son was asked to call 1-866-891-9725 We are in South Carolina.

I got this same call today from a Patrick Corbett. Same story line! I'm not in NY either. I will not be calling this number back. Thanks!

I'm so glad I thought that 866 prefix was suspicious - I got a call from a one Erik Greenway on behalf of Attorney Patrick Corbett - and I swear he sounds either extremely  bored or stoned on my answering machine - I can't imagine who I owe money to, but I did have a case number - they wanted my input on a case before they took it to court today , but never stated what it was about.this was around 2pm today in Sacramento Ca - I won't be calling them back - but I'll probably collect a few more answering machine messages this week  - I think I'll check back here every so often to see if anyone could use them in a class action suit or something

do you happen to live in washington state? I got similar calls form the "offices of patrick corbit" or some crap like that. I told them I died lol

you can never go to jail by avoiding a summons for someone to sue you. its purely civil. A sopena (sp)is a different matter, however.

the patrick corbit refered to in that letter is in New York, the calls I got were in Washington state with local phone numbers. Any thoughts on that? It could be a different laywer?  where are you guys located when you get these calls?

Received a call as well today at my work, adn as most of us scared the hall out of me to start!  Thank goodness for reverse number searches.   I will be callign them back only to attempt to obain a physical address in order to file a complaint!

I recieved a phone call today from an investigator for the Attorney Patrick Corbett.  When I spoke with them they stated they were handling my case for Check n Go.  No one would send me any information without me agreeing to make payments.  They claimed my local sherriff's office had tried to summons me.  They would not give me any information pertaining to what Check n Go this allegedly occured at.  When I asked where they (the attorney's office) were based out of all I was told was New York.  Has this Attorney been flagged as a scam?
