I took out a payday loan online last march....well my intentions were to pay it back next paycheck...the company (United Cash Express) left no way to contact them....They're phones went on 10 min waits then hung up...no returned emails and no response thru paper mail. Well every 2 weeks they continued to take out $75 for the loan principle and I couldnt repay the loan in full because I couldnt get in contact with the loan co.  ...I contacted my bank after they over drafted my account and told them the story...I had to pay the 75 plus nsf fees and got my account in good standing and canceled that account....never heard from anyone until a few weeks ago...."The Law Offices Of Patrick Corbit"...now my balance is 645 on a 300 loan plus the 5 times they withdrew 75 from my account.

lloyd leon (888-579-9640) from attn Patrick Corbits Office is now blowing up my phone threatning  court appearence and Garnishment of wages...he calls my work, never my cell, and has spoke to my Human Resource Officer here at work requesting proof of employment...I had no problems paying the loan I took out but they left me without a way to actually pay it back...

I live in Florida...Is this legal? Will I actually be taken to court? Can my Wages actually be Garished? They wont send me info regarding my case so I refuse to give any personal info without written proof of debt.

    I need advise please...

    Thanks

Same thing happen to me took a payday loan out and defaulted on it.  Tryed to set up a payment plan with the company.  Never responded back to me never received any paper work in the mail. going on 2 years now received a call from Patrick Corbett/Southern Tier agency  (noticed this was part of a collection agency because they pulled my experian report for a inquiry.  I wanted to pay with them too however they never sent us any paper work in the mail showing proof.  Just wanted checking account info to deduct money..... Called a attorney in my area to find out what my rights are.  Said basically this guy (patrick corbett) is bad news. Has heard many many horrors stories.  look on the laws on payday loans in your state I think the most they collect here is $25 if you default

Called from UNKNOWN NUMBER told me that i had to pay them 400 plus dollars. I set up payments with them and cancelled the second payment house payment more important lol Now they are calling again and told me to call 18883922815 so i blocked my number and called it got answering machine. So if they were really serious they would have someone to answer the stupid phone. You cant take legal action from these loans in my state. Check to see if your state has the same laws. These people will not get another dime from me. Call and scare me with legal action and they have no right to do so. Patrick Corbett is a bottom feeder if i have ever heard of one. Dont fall in the same scam i did.

Hey there...I just received a phone call from The Law Offices of Patrick Corbett about a credit card supposedly issued to me 8 years ago right after I graduated college from a credit card company call Clout Financial.  This guy said that he wanted me to send a post dated check and all that....after talking to him a while I hung up and called back and told him that I have NEVER owned a credit card (this being the truth) and that I felt like this was a scam and he got mad and yelled that he would just sue me and to not call his office again.  Does that sound like a lawyers office to anyone?

I work with a woman who gets phone calls from these people. We are attorneys in Oregon and I just can't believe how agressive they are. "Ms. Davis" calls up frequently on my co-worker's lunch hour and I ask to take a message because my co-worker is away from her desk. She accused me of screening her calls and baraded me telling me how I should know how unprofessional I am being - after all we both work for attorneys (I now have serious doubts as to whether she actually is in contact with Mr. Corbett.) She then demanded the name of the lawfirm which I told her she would have picked up on if she had listened to what I said when I picked up the phone. She hung up. I tried to *69 but the number was blocked. I  then googled Patrick Corbett and here I am. I am tired of this woman's [***], and I hate being told the details of my co-worker's debts and legal matters. As a co-worker, is there anything I can do?

Ah, Ms. Davis? May I assume that is you? Or are you another minion of the "Law office" of Patrick Corbett? Only someone collecting for these people specifically could ever write a comment like that on a forum like this
FYI- the 'bottom of the credit chain' does not imply bottom feeding. It implies desprate need which others are taking full advantage of.

    Excuses?
What is with all of these excuses and reasons on why not to pay your debts?  Maybe you should realize that you are a responsible adult and you need to take care of these debts before they end up at this Patrick Corbitt's office.  More than likely you had an extended period of time to take care of this before they started calling.  Excuses, Excuses, Excuses.

I worked collections for a while and
I have dealt with these guys for a while, tried to pay them off because I did default on my credit card. Recently I lost my job and could not afford to make a settlement payment. They do the usual collector spill such as, when will you be paid again? We need a payment by the end of this month. Of course you do, thats the way collection agencies work, they get paid and tallied monthly. If they dont get a collection scheduled for that month, it does their business no good. As far as law, I know of at least 3 or 4 FDCPA violations, such as disclosing personal information on an answering machine. Threatening things that they have no intentions of doing. I told them what they are collecting is a civil matter, I have no house, no car, no job, and I'm behind on my utility payments, so what do they expect me to pay them with? I told them about what I read online and they told me they would see me in court, told them I'd see them there, then they hung up on me. I called them out on being a collection agency, they tried to insist they are a law office, explained to them leasing a license from a lawyer doesn't count. They are also in violation of law by not properly identifying themselves and recent laws not disclosing their telephone number.
