- APThey never leave a message.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Suzie replies to runawayquilt| 3 repliesStatute of limitations to collect a debt is around 7 years. If someone gets a hold of you after that and you admit to owing any money, it RE-validates the debt. Just an FYI to people that do have old debt. There are companies that buy old files and re-institute the debt collection that way.
- BobThey keep calling asking for someone I do not know.

- B.O.| 1 replyIf these people can send out 1099's and deduct the full amount from their legal tax bill, I am going to send them MY receipts and deduct the full amount from MY fake bill! They can submit my receipts along with their fake receipts and, VOILA! The IRS will have to pay them Millions.
This is an awesome idea, if they can do it, then so can I..... and I think a judge will get a big chuckle out of it when they decide to find in favor of the defendant when these schmucks try to take us so called "deadbeats" to court. If it works for them, and they base it in law, then so can we!

Is a debt collector contacting you about a debt that you think is past the statute of limitations? If so, that collector may be violating your Fair Debt Collection Practices Act rights and may be liable to you for statutory damages of up to $1,000, plus any actual damages suffered, plus attorney fees!

I hate the call from this number. - Carrie| 1 replyThis number belongs to Portfolio Recovery Services. According to the message they leave on my phone, they are attempting to collect information on a debt. They call me 4-5 times a week, looking for family members of my ex-husband, whom I've been divorced from for 10 years! I've told them repeatedly that I haven't spoken to or seen these people in years and to please don't call again. They don't listen. It's always a different person that calls every time, but from this same company.
I don't know how to keep them from harassing me.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery
- Call type: Debt collector
- Instigator replies to CarrieJust pretend that you are the person they are looking for, they are going to keep calling anyway, so why not have a little fun! Tell them you promise to send a payment but your (sister, brother, etc.) has power of attorney over you. You do not have access to any credit cards, checking accounts or cash whatsoever because you have been ruled unable to handle your own finances. Just screw with them from there and see where it goes. I bet they hang up first, but keep them on the phone as long as possible (without laughing) so they are not able to bother other people.
- SpongeworthyHere we go again, another week of annoying "no message" calls from this bunch of knuckleheads. Wish I saw the above post earlier.
