I have a friend that dates one of the owners of this company or at least dated one of the oners at one time. First off, they have no collection licence to do collections. the name of the company, LEGAL ACTION RECOVERY, is just an umbrella company that is not even a real company. they operate out of an office in buffalo n.y and tell people they are calling from georgia. The actual name of the company is Global central manegment and and are located at 3060 bailey ave buffalo n.y. the real office phone number is 716-566-9067 and is owned by at least three people. Time and time again my friend talks about how they threaten people with law suits that will never take place. she also say's that no matter how much the debt is for real, they add all kind's of money on top of the actual bill. Just out of curiosity I looked them up on the web and this is what I found. I myself work for a real collection agency and people like this give us all a bad name. I do think the debts are valid from what I hear but nobody will actually file a claim against anyone. Give them a call and ask for walter hargrove. He is the one behind the scam and was put in jail for beating up his pregnant girlfriend. All the owners have been to prison at at time or another mostly for selling drugs. Clearly none of them know how to earn a living without ripping people off.If you have dealings with this company, I would have to say contact the athoritys in buffalo n.y. Enough complaints will no doubt lead to legal action against them and to get shut down.I hope you have not been a victim of these people and if everybody works together, more people will not. I got the same call today, 4/7/2010. They left a message to the effect of, this message is solely intended for me, and that a Civil Complaint has been filed in <blank> County Court, affidavit #XXXXX. I need to Call Gabriel Gortachi at 877-290-5454. I haven't lived in the county for almost 8 years, and have no bad debts. I searched on the county in reference court site, and there are no cases under my name and the affidavit number doesn't match anything. So I called the number back, and it rang several times before being picked up by the auto-attendant, and that's where the name Legal Recovery Action or whatever was mentioned. Then I googled the name. The phone number and name came up and all these comments about this being a scam...Don't need anymore stress in my life!

When anyone like this calls you tell to send it in the mail other wise at this time" You are causing my and my family mental distress" By Law they have to stop ! If they call back notify your attorney general of Fcc and they will resolve it.

wow you are stupid! If you did not pay the people you got the money from then you have to pay the new owner because the peolpe you dealt with no longer want to waste there time with you [***]!!!!

A Mr. Robert, investigator, (as he calls himself) and said he is calling to get a hold of a person that I have never heard of )and that she has a summons against her in Santa Clara County and that she is to return the call at 877-209-5454 and use the number 77026.  If she does not answer the call that she would need an attorney.  He was mumbling so much that it was hard to understand his slurring, he was probably HAMMERED!!  Sounds like he needed to continue his education.  Hope the police catch up with them..

This company is a joke! I, like others, got the call saying that 'someone' was filing a civil suit against me and that I needed to call to avoid the county sheriff coming to serve me a summons.

I called them back, and it's obviously a fraud. I've been contacted by enough debt collectors to know the routine, LOL!!  The problem is that the last 5 years, I have worked very hard to pay off all outstanding debts and KNEW this one was totally bogus, regardless of their obvious snafu's about presenting themselves as a debt collector.

I called the FTC and then called them back to let them know I'd called the FTC and was promptly hung up on.

I feel very sorry for anyone who buys into their crap and gives them money. When doing online research, I found a lady who agreed to payments being taken out of her social security check. That is so totally wrong of this company. The lack of ethics and morality disgusts me.

My neighbor lady approached me after work tonight and said someone called her saying her number was given for an emergency that there is a civil claim against me.  Funny, I don't even have her number!  I never received anything in the mail and as far as I know everything is fine.

Got a call from my sis today saying she recieved a phone call from "LAI Investigative" . The person on the other end of the phone was extreamly rude to her and told her that they had a lawsuit against me and that if I did not contact them in the next 72 hours at phone# 877-209-5454 Ext 104 they were going to "excecute" and put me in jail. The caller said they had my social security number and would use it to "do me harm". (Bad choice of words) Of course my sis is no fool and abruptly told the guy he had the wrong number and she did not know who I was, then immediatly called me and gave me the info. Now, I am in police training and have had my background gone through with a fine tooth comb so I knew I had nothing to worry about and that this was a scam. I have contacted legal about this and have filed complaints with the FTC, FCC and the authorities in Buffalo NY. The name of the company is Global Central Management. There DBA's(doing business as) Are: "Legal Action Recoveries" "LAI Inestigative" to date these are the only two I found, there may be more. PLEASE! everyone who is contacted and threatened by this company; #1. keep all records, #2 file compaints with everyone you know of starting with the FTC, FCC, and the Buffalo authorities. Lets shut this company down so they cannot hurt anyone else.

i've read every post on this forum, and i'm anxious to see this group taken down. i have enough recorded now to turn around and sue you. this should be fun, and for the good hard-working people on this site who may or may not have found themselves in financial trouble, i will keep you posted.

someone mentioned on this forum that they hoped that someday you pissed off the wrong person...today is that day, bill...today is that day.

Got a call stating "ugent, something is happening & you may not even know what was happening in regards to your account". Two days later got a call from an investigator that was not willing to identify himself. When I asked him to do so, he stated "I just did, This is Investegator Roberts'. I stated that was not good enough. He then went on to threaten me that my "civil suit" papers would be soon served.....When he asked if I wanted the case # info, I replied, "NO, if you are going to serve me, then serve me." e hung on me.
