- JustinI played gold at war memorial golf course in Little Rock, Arkansas and this is how they charged my account. Worried me at first because I have never been charged by "ACT*LITTLE ROCK P R 877-228-4881 CA" before. Once I thought back to my purchases I remember the $ 23.00 charge at the golf course and everything checked out.
- Daniel BrockmanI got a charge on my credit card for $59.95 for no reason that I know of. I asked the bank to investigate.
Here's the info I have: ACT*REGISTRATION 877-228-4881 CA 59.95

They are located at Telesis Court in San Diego California. - jymarathoner replies to NateChances are, you won't have a choice whether to use Active or not. They are the Ticket Master of sporting events.
- tamara replies to PhredWTF!! there is an $88 charge pending on how did they get my card info? I have been on hold for 30 minutes. This 877 number better be toll free!
- JCSame here, got hit with a 59.95 charge to my credit card that I haven't used in years. I basically use this credit card for emergencies only and just the other day I got hit with the charge. I did register for several half-marathons through Active.com but that was years ago. I haven't ran a race since 2009... Call your bank immediately and dispute the charge. No reason to pay for a registration fee if you're receiving no benefit from it.
- Pam SharpJust noticed a charge to my credit card for $50!!!!
- Caller: on credit card, listed as ACT Cellmates
- ChristinaAfter reading these posts, I called and the customer service rep said she'd refund me, no problem. I specifically remember not choosing this membership when registering for a recent race. The customer service rep was pleasant and helpful and said it would take 3-5 business days, but I still find it extremely irritating.
- M. Wildman replies to PhredJust happened to me as well. My wife signed my son up for an athletic activity and now this charge of $59.95 is showing up on our visa card. I am calling Visa to dispute and try and stop any further charges. I will be calling this place on monday as well. I am sure that will be a treat. What a scam!! Any other ideas would be great.
- deesgrlI got the same charge after attending the 5k Dirty Girl Mud Run in New York. I will be calling and sure to warn my team mates of the charges.
- MicheleThank You it happened to me as well. Just called and they said they will refund me and it will take 3-5 days hopefully that is true.
- Lauren replies to SuzyI just noticed my fee and found this message board - thankfully! I called the number listed on my account charge and spoke to a woman who quickly refunded the fee and provided a confirmation # so I can reference that if I don't see a refund in 3-5 business days.
When I signed up for a 10K in Philadelphia a few weeks ago, they gave you the option for 3 months trial subscription for various magazines. I signed up for that with the intent to cancel prior to getting a charge - must have missed that the Active.com membership would auto-renew. I looked in my e-mail from a few days ago and they did send me an e-mail I disregarded thinking it was information about the 10k in 2 weeks.
Easy to solve. Definitely not ideal but atleast they were nice enough to refund it. I"ll be mentioning this to the race director but for large-scale races, there is probably no better 3rd party vendor to facilitate registration. The value of the membership is discounted race fees. Maybe I'll sign up next race season. - sdwriter replies to PhredI was concerned about this phone number when it appeared on my credit card statement. Especially after I read several posts on this site. Then I read a post that mentioned Active.com, and checked a recent registration for a 5K I'm doing soon. Sure enough, the confirmation email from Active.com included the amount I was concerned about and the name that would appear on the credit card statement "Active*Laurazizzo". It would have helped if Active.com hadn't abbreviated the name on the statement, which made it difficult to recognize. It was a legit charge after all. But it does pay to check, and call your credit card issuer with the transaction number on your statement if you think the charge is fraudulent.
- Olivia| 1 replyI read these threads and called the number...the guy was helpful and knew exactly what he needed to refund. He said it was 3-5 days as well, like everyone else. I'll read all the boxes and fine print a little more closely from now on. I do remember the "free membership" thing so am not too upset, especially because the customer service call lasted about 30 seconds. If I don't get my refund in a few days, it'll be a different story of course. :-)
- jacquiI received this charge on my recent credit card statement -- called the credit card company. Apparently when I signed my son up for his local baseball house league last year there was some fine print that if i didn't check off "no" to the 30 day free trial membership then it would automatically renew -- the charge is for the past year. They are reversing it.
- upsetI had a charge of $175 to my card with ACT*Registration. I called to dispute it but they said they couldn't look up "merchant" that the charge came from without me giving them my card number! I asked for the charge to be refunded but apparently it wasn't an option. I haven't even registered for any of the "recreational activities" they coincide with so this charge was completely out of the blue.
I called my bank to notify them I had not authorized ANYTHING for this company or it's merchants and cancelled my card. - BBB complaint in orderHm, let me see. Hundreds of people hit up for a bogus charges, and they had no idea they were signing up for anything. Unethical to say the least. Everyone should complain to the company, cancel their membership, stop using them, and also put in a complaint with the BBB.
- Winky replies to Phred| 3 repliesI called 877-228-4881 and they explained that I accidentally signed up for a membership when I was registering my son in a sport. They promised the refund in 3-5 days.
- Upset runnerI registered for a 5K race to support the local Girls on the Run Club at the elementary school because it is for a good cause. You would think that the people responsible for accepting the money for the event would have more morals than to slide in a hidden charge in addition to the race charges. How slimey can you get! Straight fraud in my opinion.
- real bad timing| 1 replyI got a random charge for 58.33. After checking out what others were saying I went to the site. I have never visited active.com or signed up for any events. I did get a wesco membership for my high school son's wrestling last spring and that is the closest I can think of for any sporting event. I am angry and frustrated. This affected me more than they know. Now I have been on hold for over an hour just waiting to talk to the first person.
- angry replies to real bad timingand now they have said that the government is responsible for the charges. BOGUS!!!
