I too, was a "victim" of Active when I signed up for the Carlsbad Half-Marathon. But, all you have to do is Call (877)228-4881 and ask for a refund. The lady I spoke with was very calm and polite. She didn't try to persuade me into purchasing other products/plans either.

Got a charge for 59.95 on my card...haven't registered for anything on Active.com lately, but ran several races through them a couple years ago. Cannot even think of what I might have clicked to warrant this charge. Calling in the morning to get it reversed.

Just got hit with the $59.95 charge. Called. Not open yet. Hope to get it reversed! I've signed up for two 5K's recently through Active.com. Always choose NO for the subscriptions.

I have a 59.95 charge on my credit card from Active Called Credit Card Company they said that I was charged this last December, did not catch it. Called Active they said I have been charged this since 2004. Don't understand how I did not catch it, I guess because I have more charges in December and overlooked it. My husband signed up for a race and gave them his email. Hopefully this is the end of it, and I should have known to pay close attention to my bills. They would not credit us the past charges and we did not even use it, I don't even know what it was to use. They got us for six years. Hopefully this doesn't happen to any one else.

My bank statement shows charges pending of $155.00.  The bank said I have to wait until the charge goes through before they can research it.  I wonder how all this happened.

Notices a $59.95 charge on my credit card about a month after signing up for a mud run. Called the number and the lady cancelled the membership and refunded my money back. Will get the refund in 3-5 days. The lady was very nice and helpful. When you sign up for any races and you click a certain box it automatically activates you as a member wanting an active advantage account. Lame but call the number they will take care of you immediately. Also, they have a prompt about these calls which is pretty sketchy and clear that they are having A LOT of problems with this.

Same thing. $59.95 charge appeared after 1 month after signing for a 5 mile turkey trot run. Don't remember selecting membership option. Probably was a very small preselected button, which I had missed. Will call to reserve.

I just noticed the 59.95 charge on my Cap One credit card.  Unlike many of you, I have not run any marathons, etc... I have no idea why I got charged.  I called my credit card company and they were very nice and told me they would credit my account within 2 days and take the money back from the merchant.  Whether it's outright fraud, or just sneaky fine print, I hope the Feds come in and bust their a$$ and incarcerate whoever is behind this scam.  It has to be a scam.  Otherwise, why would Active be so willing to give anyone a refund who calls and complains??  If it's a legit charge, then it would not be so hassle-free as many of you describe.

Everyone:  Do what I just did.  Go the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) webiste and file a complaint.  Very fast easy to do.  You can do it while you wait on hold trying to get your refund.

I urge all of you to file a complaint against Active.  What they are doing is wrong.  The company is obviously just hoping people will not notice the charge. In addition, I urge all of you to boycott any sporting events that associate with this company.  We all work too hard and make too little money to put up with sh*t like this.

Glad you got your money back.  Now I urge you to report this fraudulent charge to the FCC so others will not be tricked.  Think about how many people paid this fee and never even noticed it.  This is just not right.   Please file a complaint at the website below and hopefully justice will be served to the perpetrators.  Thank you so much, have a wonderful day, and God bless you and God bless the USA !!!

Just noticed a $59.95 charge on my statement that was taken out on 12/30/09. I'm calling them right now for my refund and to make sure that they burn all the information they have on me.  I've been on hold for ten minutes now.  Wish me luck!

Same thing to me: I got dinged for 59.95.  I know for a fact that I never signed up for anything other than a 5k!!! Which was a month ago!!  I've been trying to call for two days now, but I keep getting a busy signal!!  This sucks!!  I don't have the time for this or the MONEY!  What do we do?  I did call the Running Team that uses Active and told them; I also am going to my bank after school.

same thing, wife signed jr. up for little league and this $59.95 charge got appended to the account. not sure how obvious it was that this was being selected. all the same, called the number and they have agreed to reverse the charge in 3-5 days. based upon other posters, i expect i will get the money back. i could have easily not noticed this charge and let it go through which is what i am sure they hope for.

Same here.  I called the number, on hold for about 7-10 minutes.  Spoke to a customer rep who sent said that the charges would be reversed in 3-5 business days and sent a confirmation e-mail. Hopefully this resolves the issue...Oh, also called my credit card company.  They said that the fastest way to resolve this is to have the company reverse that charges.  They won't dispute the charges unless the offending company refuses to reverse that charges.  So, even though I should get my money back, there are no black marks against this company for what I perceive to be a shady practice.

They dinged me for over $300! I can't call them because I'm currently in studying France and have only a local phone at the dorm, but needless to say, I'm pretty upset. I sent my bank an email and will let them deal with it as a chargeback. I'm lucky that I took some time this morning to check my accounts! I'm here for more than a month of study, I have a local bank account and if I hadn't checked in this morning to see how things were going, my rent and health insurance back home would have bounced. Thanks jerks.
