I would suggest you call the government directly and let them give you the information to a private collection company.

I would suggest 2 things to you.  First, stop replying to 5 year old posts in the middle of a really long thread.  Second, learn the law, as the debt collector must prove that you owe the debt and that they have the legal right to collect it.  This includes student loan debt as well.

Asked several times to speak with Marcus, insisted that I was somehow related to Marcus. That is was very important that they get in touch with him.

FMS. They called to collect a debt. The last 4 of the SSN they wanted me to confirm was absolutely not mine. My guess; they got contact info and, following up on a lead, called me. Straightened out.

An idiot named Raul Gonzoles called my cell.  The number that showed up was a local number so I answered it.  He was calling about my niece.  He said she provided me as a reference for a job once and that's how he got my number.  He asked me to give her a message and listed the 877 number. I told him I didn't have contact with her and hung up.  I hope this doesn't become a habit, as this is NOT my debt or my problem!

'Roger' who barely spoke English, wanted to verify employment.  I asked him who he was calling about and he asked for my name.  I ignored him and asked again who he was calling about. He said 'I cannot give out that info because of privacy reasons'.  I asked how I was supposed to verify employment if he won't give me a name.  He said he'll give me the name when I give him mine.  I told him the person he needs to speak with is unavailable and she would call him back.  He then proceeded to give me a different name and number than what was on caller ID.  I will tell him to kiss off if he calls back after reading these other comments.

    Bill-Paying American Citizen
I get 2-3 calls PER DAY from 1-877-291-8405. Sometimes they leave a message, other times they do not. It is a total scam. I'm tired of these scamming [***] bothering those of us that KNOW we have NO debt and have nothing on my credit report to suggest otherwise. I pay all of my bills, early and on-time every single month. I also pay my yearly IRS taxes lie all good tax-paying American Citizens do. This company needs to be stopped and spontaneously combust. Go bother people in your own countries!

I too get multiple calls from this # and others. It seems when I block one, they come up with another # to get past it. I've learned a few things reading these comments so thank you everyone. I will be pursuing legal action against all of their #'s.

    Patricia replies to a. bauer
A lady named Samantha called my cell phone asking if I was Patricia. I said yes and she said I'm looking for your daughter ...I said she isn't here
She wasn't masty or anything, a little pushy asking whem was the last time I saw her which I never answered. That's none of her business. She gave me her number and ext. I will not forward this to my daughter whenever she comes to visit. People be careful not to talk tp strangers.
