- Boss HoggI received a call from this organizaton last night. They called looking for my ex-sister-in-law who has never used my house number for any reason or on any ocassion. When I answered the call the woman asked for my ex sister-in-law which took me totally by surprise. She indicated that she had a terrific financial investment opportunity and that my ex sister-in-law would definitely want to get involved with. I would consider that comment to be a lie. The number actually belongs to a collection Agency responsible for the collection of student loans for the Department of Education and/or the Department of the Treasury. They call themselves
FMS of Financial Investment Corporation. They are deceptive and not straight forward.- Caller: FMS and/or Financial Investment Corporation

- Tichad3My husband has gotten several messages at work from this number and a person named Tom Sklena. My husband does NOT have any loans and is not allowed to get phone calls at work. I just called the the company at the call back number and they had absolutely nothing under his name or the number of his job. They wanted me to give them his social. It's a total phishing scam. And the next time they call his job he is fired. Then there are gonna be several employess at 877-291-8405 that will be begging for help.
Call one more time ppl, I dare you. You are illegally harassing ppl and hiding behind a debt collector. Guess what??? We owe nothing. We have never taken a loan out on anything. We do NOT believe in credit. If we do not have the cash to make a purchase, then we go without. Stop calling immediately or you will be sorry. This is not a threat. It is a promise. - RyudoPhoenixThis is an absolute scam and a harassment of my friends and family. They get through your office trying to make like they're an old friend or family member. Everyone in my family knows my personal number, not my work number. They have called members of my family that are in another state. It is ridiculous.

- NikiI keep receiving calls from this company and I refuse to answer them, I DO not have any student loans, the one student loan I had 20 yrs ago was paid in full about 15 yrs ago when my father gave me the cash to pay the debt off (it was a small lone $2,000). They are calling my cell phone which A) is not under any contract so there is NO way for someone to get my cell number, it's one of those smart phones that you just buy minutes for per month since I do not like getting myself into contracts, B) the only people I have ever given my cell number to are my co-workers, my sister and my husband no one else has this phone number. When I moved into the house I have now and got a new house number someone kept calling me asking for a guy who must have had the house number before me it took me 2 yrs of telling these people I have never heard of this guy before they stopped calling me. Now I just flat out refuse to deal w/companies like this. Luckily my cell phone allows me send certain phone numbers directly to voicemail, this company calls from different phone numbers I just keep adding them to my address book naming them spam then selecting to have them go directly to voicemail. Now they could be contacting me looking for someone else I've had that happen before a collection agency looking for my cousin kept calling me when they finally left a vmail and stated who they were looking for the next time they called I answered and gave them her work phone number so they would stop calling me. If this company wants people to return their calls or answer their calls then leave a freakin voice mail and identify why you are trying to get in touch w/the person you might actually get somewhere. Two numbers who are calling my cell are 877-291-8405 630-613-1151

- dphillips61 replies to Tired of Dealing with ThemI have been getting threatening phone calls and when I ask to get something in writing they tell me go check out my information on myedudebt.com. After going to this site, I find nothing. I'm thinking maybe they too are trying to collect on a student loan that may have been discharged. How can I find out if the debt no longer exist?
- UPSET BUSINESSA very rude and aggressive guy named Tom called from this number and would not take no for an answer when he asked for a lady that did not work here. He tried to force my employee to give her name and when she refused because he was being so nasty, he got even worse. Legally I cannot use it, but the call was recorded - so I heard how rude he was and he will be told on his next call that the call is being recorded so that I can turn the recording over to my attorney. It cannot be legal for this harassment to take place - these people need to have restrictions put on them!

- sHARON replies to GracieIt is a scam. Listen to the news.
- TI got a call from a local number to verify my sisters information. It sounded like one of those situations where she applied for something (T.V., computer, etc.) so they wanted to make sure her info was true. He gave me the name Rich Black and gave me the 877-291-8405 number with his ext. I called the local number back and he answsered Nathan Johnson. This does sound like a HUGE scam. 1. Why would they call me before my sister? and 2. I'm not on her student loans. If I get another call from this company I will file harassment charges.

- President1-877-291-8405. This is a student loan debt collector. They contact any references you may have put down on any type of applications; rental, credit, etc. They lie about why they are calling and attempts to trick people into giving up info. It is harassment tactic. File a complaint with your state attorney general and the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Education. These tactics are illegal and it could lead to them being fined or losing their contract wi9th the federal Department of Education. They call friends, family and your job constantly.

- Pennagirl replies to outaheaActually, they cannot harass anyone, including the person that owes a bill. They also have to abide by statute of limitations. My mom was called and they are looking for my brother in law who lived with me 6 years ago. My mother has never cosigned a student loan or was used as a reference. They use those databases that search peoples names and come up with anyone that has been associated in the past with whomever they are looking for (like PeopleSmart.com). They harassed my mother in law, me and my kids (and neither of them are old enough to cosign). They are telling me his business, like the amount of the debt, how long its been unpaid. He lived with us for three months back in 2006.
- FMS client. replies to fms worker| 1 replyIf you really work for FMS you would be a lot more respectful in your responses. By saying you work for them, you are representing the company. I'd be careful, if you say the wrong thing, the company dosn't have to just discharge you, they can sew.
- Myra replies to J.J.Omg I'm so glad got the chance to read this.. I been getting the same calls and I even made a payment arragement. They told me the same thing they told you! Thank you so much for this information! Next time they call I'm going to tell them to [***] off! Lol

This company is a big scam, they make everything sound good with a 6-9 month payment plan starting with $100. They will drill you with multiple options of great payment plans but that is only to make you more comfortable giving them your card info. The only reason I caught on to this as a scam is because my girlfriend pointed a few things out to me. The first being the local area code they called from.the second being when I asked for the website to their company he had to look it up. The third was the number that he gave me I called back after hanging up with him and the offices were closed. After all these indications of fraud we called the card company to cancel the card. The assistant gave us a key piece of advice, never give any info to someone that calls you if you are interested in getting student loans off your back call them or look up a official student loan site...- Caller: www.fmsdc.com

- I screen all callsThis number called my house but left no voicemail, If I'm reading this correctly from other posts it is supposed to be from the department of education, Well I have never co-signed for anyone when it comes to education and I have paid cash to put my daughter through college in which she is still going. Make sure that if it someone claiming to collect on a debt that they send a certified letter with all the back up proof to you in the mail including the copy of the document(s) you signed. Make sure you also verify that they have your mailing address without giving it to them. Ask them what mailing address they have on file and tell them yes it is correct. If they don't have the correct address then tell them they can go throught their legal government channels to get the current correct address and then certified mail you the back up documents. Do not ever agree to make a payment of any sort until you have verified that it is your debt owed and then make sure they take you to court to have it legally taken care of. I have a friend who learned this the hard way.
- I screen all calls replies to fms collector800 numbers are suppose to be toll free! If you are who you say you are then your 800 number would be toll free and you can even say that on your recording that you apparently leave once in awhile. I screen all incoming calls to my house unless I know who you are personally. I also don't give out my unlisted number. I have a different number that I use for all legal/business contacts.
- I screen all calls replies to fms workerAccording the the U.S. Post office they too are a government agency and they are in the business of getting your payment to whomever you send it too. I send all such important paperwork such as this type of stuff via certified mail and at least two to three weeks ahead of time... If you are stating that you can't get the payment processed in a timely and correct manner then you shouldn't be a company representing our Dept of Ed loan program. I would therefore ask the Dept of Ed you break their contract with you and stop spending my taxes on a company that is worthless at following through in a timely manner.... In fact I would be writing to the head person of the Dept of Ed and cc the president of the United States as this is my duty as an american citizen to make sure my taxes are not being wasted by a company that cannot follow through with payments being made to them by those whom you are supposed to be helping (AS YOU PUT IT).

- Anonym replies to jkSend a letter to the state attorney generals office indicating you are being harassed for a bill that is not yours and that you are getting annoyance calls. The state attorney general that the call originates from will contact them and then reply to you any necessary information you may need to supply. For instance they may think your spouse is the person who owes the debt so you would have to furnish the last 4 digits of your social security number with your name on the social security card. You can black out all the other digits. They will stop harassing you once the attorney general gets involved. Then they may attempt years later and you can mail your correspondence to them and the attorney general again with a printout of the number. If you want to take local action dial *57 or *51 (I forget) That traces the call and if you have three traced calls then call your phone company security and make a complaint. They can get involved with your local police dept.
