- Go Bother someone elseI got a call from a Rich Black who said he was trying to help someone else. I said I don't give a S H I T and hung up.
- FMS collector replies to B. AnnYou were listed as a reference when your daughter took out the loan before she was married. Thank goodness she didn't reveal the reason. You wouldn't want people to know you were in debt if it was you, would you?
- Collector replies to JSounds like they may be calling a wrong number. Try calling again.
- collector replies to JohnYou don't have to get out your SSN. We already have it. The law demands we make sure we are talking to the right person by SSN and name. Just verify if the SSN we have is you or not. Not much we can do with the last four digits.
This prevents me from discuss your business with any random Joe with the same name. - Collector replies to WendyTake a message for the employee and simply tell the person not to call your number again. Usually just saying "No personal calls, please." does the trick.
- Collector replies to Alan| 2 repliesI've done that. Hey, when you don't answer at home, we have to get creative.
- FMS collector replies to Al Smith1) We use local touch because I lot of people don't answer 800 numbers
2) We never use the website ourselves, so I can understand if a new employment didn't know the address. It's fmsdc.com. Nothing useful for students I'm afraid.
3) FMS offices are open 8-9 cst M-Th with some exceptions. We were having some issues with calls going to VM, but those are fixed now. - Collector replies to DISGUSTEDThey are probably calling because they have a wrong number and think you may live in a state they can't leave a message or they are calling to probe you for information about the borrower. They avoid leaving messages for 3rd parties because that is considered a "contact."
- lauracalled saying they were FMS, financial management system. Asking me to confirm my social security number

- Girl Posting ThisJust missed a call from this number for the umpteenth time in the past couple of weeks...this time on a SATURDAY morning around 10:30. On a holiday weekend no less. I have done NOTHING out of the ordinary and don't know what I did to deserve this but I sure wish they'd go away!!! "Normal" life is hard enough already. Geez. Anyone else note the date of when this thread started?!? It's been nearing five years now and they're still scamming people!!! Hey, maybe they can see this and be inspired for a slogan: "877-291-8405, Scamming Whoever We Want to Since December 18, 2009."
- Caller: Wish I knew
- Girl, againShould have added I do not owe a debt and don't know of a relative who does either.

- Harassed SeniorI have been harassed by an anonymous caller for a year... 3-4 calls a day, including Saturday and Sunday...on my cell phone. No messages left. No way to know who is calling. No way to block. A reputable company would identify themselves and/or leave a message. Any suggestions?

- DodgedThisBulletWhat I can't believe in reading through these posts is all of the horrible spelling and punctuation by people with college educations!
That said, I'm glad I read these posts (painful as it was with the above-mentioned issue) before I innocently threw a co-worker under the bus! FMS Services, Inc. sends out a very official-looking "Information Request" to employers in their quest to obtain current contact information, and I presume, to ultimately garnish wages.
My co-worker may or may not owe this debt, but if the Federal Government wants to collect, they know where to find her. I'll wait for their call and won't fall prey to the scare tactics employed by FMS.- Caller: FMS Services, Inc.

- Fredrick Bryson| 2 repliesSo were does our money go when we send it to FMS? Is it really being applied to our student loan? How can we see the balance of our student loan after we have paid FMS so much money to make sure?
- annoyedCalling me regarding someone else asking questions and saying I was used as a reference what a scam!!!!! Just fishing for information.
- Caller: fms investment corp
- KatieThey called my uncle saying I used him for a reference on my recent loan (wouldn't tell him what the loan was for) and said they have better rates for me and to have me call immediately. Not before they asked where I lived, worked, hung out, Names of other family members. My Parents address. My phone number and license plate numbers. I called them to tell them NOT to call him and they said I was a third party because I would not verify my social - uh duh every single financial institution in the WORLD will never ask for your ss over the phone. They had the wrong address for where I lived (have not lived there since 2002) Was not in College or had a student loan until 2011 and I did take out a car loan recently but I got the loan through the dealership. Hopped on Credit Kharma and the only things on there are the car loan the unused CC for emergencies and my closed out CC and Car loans and School loans. Scam is written all over this one. They were very threatening and said things like we have all your families info were going to call them all multiple times a day until you give us your social.
- Caller: Would not say.
- FMS EMP replies to jk| 13 repliesI recently worked for FMS. The only thing they focus on there is collecting and recovering defaulted student loans. All collectors in the world look up relatives and try and probe for location information on the borrower, which is perfectly legal. About 20% of our cases are very old default years, even from the 1980's, and yes we try to contact those people as well as there is NO statute of limitations, bankruptcy discharge (post 1985ish) or loan forgiveness (except for 100% disablility and other rare qualifications). It is federal law that before ANY personal information is revealed they must verify who they are speaking with by confirming the last 4 of SSN. Noone on earth can do ANYTHING harmful to you with the last 4 of your social security number. They legit want to help people out of federal default, and most people IN default don't know how easy it is to get it resolved, but most of the time they don't have the chance to explain this due to privacy restrictions and people being wary of them right away. They often don't leave messages, because if they do it has to be VERBATUM from a script which honestly sounds ridiculous and they try to avoid it when possible. To ease your concern, look up loan rehabilitation and start getting your taxes back and avoid wage garnishments, that's really their only concern- it might be weird at first, but they are trying to help you.
- a Mother| 1 replyI am getting phone calls and have never Co-signed for a loan. My daughter has a loan and has been unable to pay since graduating due to the economy and no job, at least not enough to pay her loan. She has requested the extension and since they don't have their act together she still doesn't have the required paperwork to file the extension. She talks to them every month, however they continue to call and harass me despite the fact I am NOT on the loan. They are inquiring as to her whereabouts......even though she talks to them each and every month! It's maddening!!! If they would just follow through then all of these unnecessary steps on their end could be avoided. As well as the harassing calls every single day to me!!!!
