These people want personnel information to verify who I am.  I told them when they verify who they are I would be glad to answer their questions.  They will only give me their first name to verify themself.  So I told them to have whoever they represent send me a letter.  They still call.  The next time they call I will block them.

I received a letter from Medical Revenue Service.  They did have all my information.  This bill is outstanding with appropriate payments being made to an agency for over a year.  I called the agency that has my bill and my payment information.  They had not heard of Medical Revenue Service in Melbourne Florida.  I called Medical Revenue Service and they did not know why they had the same bill for collection.  As of today, they are going to send me a "disregard notice".  If I do not receive one in 30 days, then I am reporting them to the BBB.  They are obviously a scam company.  I really don't expect a "disregard notice".  We will see....

They called asking for my social to discuss 'a private and personal matter'.  Wouldn't tell me who or what they were.  Called 7 times in 5 days.

I received a call from this number offering 40% off of a hospital bill that I still owed on.  They had my birthdate, first and last name, my address, and record of my hospital stay rhe year leior. I thought it seemed pretty fishy. They claimed to offer a certain percentage off per how much you owed (i.e. 50% off of $4,000+, 40% off of $2,000+ etc.). I had someone else call on my behalf and they would not talk to them without receiving my permission.

Upon giving them permission, and after calling the hospital, I learned that this is indeed a collection agency. A collection agency hired by the hospital. It was a legitimate phone call and I owe much less now.

Yes, everyone is so thrilled with your good fortune. However, the name of this website is not "I-Paid-My-Billz-dot-info".

You MDS shills have played the same songs for nearly four years .... "I forgot that old bill", "they had all my information", "my privacy was honored", "paying was the right thing". Meantime, everyone not getting MDS paychecks has a much different story of a room full of goons who chase paid and dubious accounts, refuse to drop wrong numbers, blast false skip trace calls, and push fifty calls or so weekly per target number. Then if they do finally corner the correct party they are needlessly secretive and apparently refuse to validate claims.

Bleating that "they spoke only with permission" removes only the most obvious ways to get jerked around. Maybe if you weren't so occupied with trying to tiptoe around "Foti" violation triggers you could read the rest of the FDCPA for guidance on how reasonable adults solve their financial problems, not to mention how the CFPB and FTC want your job to be done.

Who said it was your job to interrogate the original creditor? Where's your required dunning letter? Where's the paperwork supporting your "hired by the hospital" claim? The only way any debt collector can make generous "fire sale" price offers is when the account was cheaply purchased. A debt buyer scored it at maybe %04, then tries to collect at a huge markup. I've seen my own share of "percentage" offers from trashy collectors. "I owe much less now" because I paid nothing and sued them for trampling my rights.

    . . . . . . . . . .

Please identify a specific incident of dickery you are protesting or if there is a broader complaint, because for the moment it looks like it took you 2.8 years to wrinkle your nose at my rebuttal to a rude shill who evidently thought that her job as a trashy debt collector compensated for flunking out of high school.

What I have so far on these crooks:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
    http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

I have been called several times by this number… Each time I have answer that they have my name but they will not tell me the company that they are calling from and state that they are recording the call. They then want me to tell them my address and other personal information to verify that I am the person that they want to speak with. This sends every red flag up in the book because when I  say I will verify the information that they have but I will not give information of a personal nature without having even the company name that they are with she says that it’s against their policy and abruptly hangs up. If this is a legitimate collections agency they will state who they are and most certainly would not tell me that they are recording as they have me give my personal information. In this day and age with scammers Everywhere this does not settle well and seems to have every marker of a scam.
