Just got a call from these folks. They had my former name and asked me to verify my birthday. They stated the month and day and asked me the year.
Funny, on my old fb page that has my former name on it, my phone number is listed because I work for myself and I got a lot of business from FB. Also, my birthday but only the month and day. Not the year.
They probably are just medical collections but they wouldn't say what they were. A woman just said a matter had been referred to her business office. I asked what kind of business. She wouldn't answer just tried to get me to give personal info.
Too bad, because if it was a legit collection attempt for a bill I didnt realize I had (Must be OLD because I havent had that last name in about 5 years), id have paid it off and she'd have gotten her commission.

Ok, you answered my question. Lol thanks!
I also have a couple medical bills outstanding. I usually get a statement for my copay amount and pay what I can till it's satisfied. Or, of they call and offer a discount to pay it all now, I'll do that. Happened with ER bills a couple of times. So when she called, I was prepared to work out a solution.
But her approach threw me off. She asked for me by my exhusband's last name. (Ive been divorced from him for about 8 years and remarried for 5.) I asked what the call was in reference to and she says a business matter that has been referred to her office. I ask what type of business and she said first she needs to verify that I'm me. States my birth day and month then asks me the year. I again ask what it's about. She asked for my bday again and I told her anyone can pull a name and birthdate off of fb. I need an account number or name of who the debt is to. She asked for the birth year again after saying it was a business office. I hung up and blocked

Wow you are a crooks dream! All someone needs to do is call you up, tell you that you owe them money, and you pay them. The heck with making them follow the law. The heck with having them prove that you owe the bill. The heck with making sure they even have the legal right to collect this imaginary debt.

Yeah, federal law states they have to make a positive ID of the "debtor" before they can discuss it. You're right, though, anybody can look up a birthday so the first time i answered the call, i told them "if this is regards to an outstanding bill, you need to contact the creditor and notify them that i want the associated original statements and paperwork." When i worked collections almost 2 decades ago, that was a request they were supposed to honor. Never got anything.

I can tell that you "worked collections" because that is not even a proper request per federal law, but I would expect someone who had no training and no education to post that little tidbit of misinformation.

They have called me at least 6 times today.  They have used different numbers. First call about 8:15 am and then later using 888-357-8573.  The last couple of  calls the answering machine came on and they shouted out about three times with a name that was not anyone that lives here.

The speaker was mostly unintelligible due either to slurred speech or thick accent, but they said they were from medical revenue services and collecting a debt. Definitely a phishing expeditition to get personal information!

This caller keeps appearing on my new phone. So frustrating. Leaves no message.  I keep getting calls I don't know. Do they recycle old phone numbers when you buy a phone or is this just spam I hear about?

Received a missed call from this number a few minutes ago, called the number back and they stated that they were Medical Revenue and they needed me to verify my birthday so that they would know that they are speaking to the right person. I informed them that I didn’t feel comfortable giving my personal information and asked them to reach me by mail with the address they have on file. The man on the phone became upset and aggressive and when I told him that he will not call a phone that I’m paying the bill on and he demanding ,  he became more upset and raised his voice while speaking to me and when I attempted to speak back he hung up the phone on me. I think these are spammers.

They first verify DoB, address, and say you are recorded. Then ask you to pay medical bill, which can only pay over the phone. They seem rude and hurry. Do not answer this call!

Called my sister and when I answered and said she wasn’t available the guy said ‘well it’s her phone isn’t it?’ I said to him- you do realize people share phones right? And a landline is commonly used by many people. What a joke. Said he was from MRS which is medical revenue services. Just say who you are and don’t beat around the bush or try to trick people.
