A robocaller that does not identify themselves, claiming to be someone looking for the whereabouts of someone else. Stated "if we are unable to confirm their whereabouts through you, the law allows us to contact all references on file."

The law requires a debt collector or law enforcement officer to identify themselves as such in their initial call and messages, so this smacks of scam.

They're still at it - same number and message - 877-548-3112 - looking for Lloyd Williams.  Never heard of him, I didn't answer and didn't call back.

Called and left a robotic message, no identification, saying the same as other comments looking for whereabouts.  Smells like scam.  Real debtors and the like announce who they are.

Got the same call and I called back to see what this all about they did have some old info of me so I asked more questions about the debt and negotiate a lower amount than wanting my bank card to secure payment for my agreed reduce amount said no way I am giving out that information until I receive proper documents of my debt. I did inform I paid all my debts and they said not this one and I asked which company is it from and he didn't have that info saying we are the last debt collection trying to recover this debt funny how he didn't have any information on debt or the company trying to recover the debt

Stated the company was FMR (Forward Movement Recovery) and that they weren't open and to leave a message and they would call back.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.  There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated.

FMR called my Wif and Mother-in-law this afternoon looking for information on me and my where-abouts. I did try to call back and got the after hours message - gave only my name and said call me back. They have never tried my number, that I am aware of, I don't answer random numbers. I will call back if a message is left.

Thank you BigA for all of the information you provide, I will be following up with it.
