- Well Actually replies to JWell, someone in their collections department is not doing their job. I am getting non-stop calls from them and I have not banked with Wells Fargo since 2009. I closed out my account at a branch. That being said, Wells Fargo has had a lot of suspicious activities recently with accounts being reopened, second accounts being oped, and just accounts generally being opened fraudulently. So, it's important to stay on top of them, to make sure it's legit and not as a result of identity theft. Also, if you look through the replies, they are calling kids as young as 14.
- jtemm1966 replies to LMAOFalse information you are spewing. They can't block you from having an account at other financial institutions
- Joe replies to LMAOWrong in every way
- SusanI have a Wells Fargo account. Instead of talking to someone on the phone I went to Wells Fargo and asked if there was a problem with my account. There is no problem on my account and they had nothing in my account saying they were calling. They asked for the number and I supplied it, they were not aware of the number. They call all day long. I use ATT call blocker so I can see how many times I called. The calls do not come through.
- Caller: Uncertain
- Emily replies to LMAOWhat if you've never banked with Wells Fargo?
- Barb| 2 repliesI bought a straight talk phone and was assigned a persons number who obviously had bad debt with this number.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Call type: Debt collector
- Tygerkat replies to BarbNot necessarily. Scammers call anyone they think they can harass or frighten into paying nonexistent debts.
- BigA replies to BarbSo, if you were to get rid of that number and someone started getting calls, they would say the same thing about you. They may or may not have overdue bills. There are too many scam agencies out there and there is also no guarantee that this really is Wells Fargo calling. Even if it is, they may simply be calling numbers in the hopes of getting someone who owes them money, not necessarily the person who had the number previous to you.
- DkjIf it is wellsfargo you think they would, respond when you say hello, leave a message or not hang up when you answer. I have received multiple calls daily for over a week and not once when I have answered has there been anyone on the other end of the phone. Today was an automated message that told me to hold for the next available operator no company name, no info that it’s an attempt to collect a debt.
- RonThey call several times every Sunday. Most times we don’t answer and they don’t leave a message. The one time I answered, the person calling was from India. She wanted my phone number and account number - she didn’t get them. We don’t have a Wells Fargo account but I called their main customer service number and they had no record of me. They feel I’m being called by a scammer who is spoofing their phone number.

- NellieThis number has been calling for over a year and I have NEVER had a Wells Fargo account. Definitely a scam. There are so many out there, ugh.

- Jim in VAMultiple calls from this number! From what I am reading here on these pages, this is the Wells Fargo debt collection or overdraft department. They have never left a message of any kind. I do not have, nor have I EVER had ANY kind of an account with Wells Fargo, so something doesn’t smell right. I have them on block now.
- Caller: Wells Fargo (apparently)
- Call type: Debt collector
- John in ORCalls me every so often and never leaves a message. I'll continue to ignore until they learn to leave a message or they'll just forever waste time. I almost never answer my phone; rather, I always check my messages.
- Caller: Wells Fargo, likely
- Call type: Silent call
- Devon Miller| 1 replySome of you folks are very ignorant. I’m speaking in regards to those who keep saying that it is a legitimate phone number. Have any of you read any of comments or have an inklet of any idea of what most of these people are saying? Probably not. I too am one that continuously receives phone call from this Wells Fargo number, and yet I had an account. No it was not in bad standing so the overdraft department would and should have no reason for calling me. However, lefts look at the fact that anytime I answer their calls, I say hello, and before I know it, they’ve ended the call. No information is ever relayed. No sort of clue as to who it is that is calling. The only reason I know who is calling is before I called the number back and it tells you. I receive phone calls from this number all seven days of the weeks, and most of the time it’s 2-5 times in one day. So I can see how irritating this can be for some people, as it is completely unnecessary to call that many times and not say anything each time. But I’m sure this who have their opinion and have a PHD in knowing everything wouldn’t understand because they’re not the ones receiving these calls.

Never trust a caller to be who they claim, always call from an official number to verify if they did.
The most likely call types to come from a legitimate Banking number:
Scammer
Debt Collector
3rd Party Telemarketer (from shared info)
Bank representative - nunya business replies to nothingsoundsamee
- JeanThey call 7-10 times a day, so aggravating, and unnecessary.
- Caller: Wells Fargo
- SPEAK UP replies to LMAOIf you calling to collect a debt.. Say that .. Leave a voice mail.. If we call bk .. Pick up and not hold the phone.. Say company name.. And i never had an acct with them so f it.. That's why the collector suck and not hitting his goal dummy
- Solar| 1 replyIt is WellsFargo collections. My issue revolves around a fraud charge, though they do not want to process my claim, regardless of my supporting documentation and such. They know that the writeoff they receive will pick up the loss, then whatever monies they collect is cream on the top. The problem is, they do not llisten.
