- Kevin G replies to JoeThey also collect for ELAN, Better known as CARDMEMBERSERVICES
(Remember Rachael?)
They are legit but use what seem like illegal (or right on the line) means to their end.
Call at 4 minutes after 8 in the morning
Call at 3 minutes before 9 at night
They have done this 20 days in a row, oh, and one at lunch and another at dinnertime
4 calls a day for about 20 days because I was $3 short of the $25 minimum payment.
The ONE TIME I tried to talk to them they ran me around 4 different customer reps for a half an hour without telling me how to go about changing the billing cycle date so it would not be due the day before my SS check comes
Why would they, I might actually pay them and they wouldn't get their $35 a month penalty

- Jerry| 1 replyGot a call this a.m. from someone (supposedly) working for U.S. Bank collections, asking for my son by name. He doesn't live here, he is 400 miles away. I do have an answer for many folks concerning calls like this. There are unfortunetly legitimate, scumbag companies that buy past financial records from banks and other lending institutions. Even if a bill has been paid or even paid in full, they will demand info and/or money from you. Once they have the info they are looking for, they may file a motion with the courts for a past due debt (which of course most people don't owe.) It is then up to the individual to respond to the court action and prove that they don't owe anything. It costs the individual time, money, and headache. Primarily, this is a (supposedly legit) practice for these companies. Basically it is a scam but it is still legal so far. If you get calls like this, do NOT answer the phone and do NOT give them any info, and do NOT call them back. The funny thing is, they do not send any legal paperwork to you in the mail. It's all done over the phone. Once you call them back, they can claim that you interacted with them, thus they can start their court paperwork. Good luck and beware !
- Caller: U.S. Bank
- Call type: Debt collector
- Tygerkat replies to JerryIf "they do not send any legal paperwork to you in the mail" then they are not a legitimate debt collector.
- JessicaA lady called on my husband's cell phone asking for his dad, he told me that this number (877-838-4347) has been calling every day asking for him. I took the call and they didn't want to speak to me regarding the call, so I asked for call back info and she said she was calling from Elan financial Bank, I'm going through the post on this forum and I see that people are posting that it's from a u.s. bank, I'm thinking this is a scam.

- KitKat| 1 replyI received a call from this number multiple times this morning. I asked who it was and all they said was "credit services." I said I need a business name because I've had ID theft three times in the past. They refused to tell me their business name until I provided my phone number. They just called me on it so I gave it and asked again, now, what is the business name. They replied that they need my full name as well and that's when I hung up. I have no idea who this is. I don't trust them.
- BigA replies to KitKatYou could always take the time to read the other posts to find out.
- DaveI think it is a legit call. But they are total incompetents. Calling about 3-4 times a day. When I answer, they hangup. I called them back. And they did have the last four numbers of the US Bank account. And I was late making a payment.
- Caller: US Bank or their subcon

- skeyhani503 replies to JoeFRAUDULENT! Received call supposedly representing US Bank & informed I owed monies on old accts. I have US Bank cc with $12k limit & checking & savings so when I told them I owe nothing since I’m current customer they threatened freezing my accts. I contacted US Bank customer service & collections & told them about the call & my refusing to offer any information or claim responsibility for debts & advised the collections representative to follow the consumer protection act guidelines & mail me the information regarding the debt as is THE LAW which the CSR didn’t acknowledge & 1st, claimed they were under no obligation to do so, &, if I didn’t want to make any payments today that they will freeze my accts. I said, “Have at it. Go for it & it will be a cold day in hell when I will claim responsibility or make a pmt to them. I’m waiting with anticipation for the freeze of my accts to occur.” US Bank CSR informed me that I was very smart & that the calls are indeed fraudulent & my accts are all in good standing & any prior accts have been written off years ago. So, OFFER THEM NOTHING!
- ShadI get calls from this number 3-5 times a day, all throughout the day in the mornings and late evenings. If it’s important they can leave a message, but never do. After reading other people’s message, I realize this number is a scam. I’ve blocked the number and consider this as harassment.

- Annoyed"Cardmember Service" keeps calling my home multiple times a day starting as early as 8 am to almost 9 pm PST. I don't answer because my accounts with Elan are up to date. This is absolute harrassment. Also I am on the DND list. I have my accounts scheduled to be closed next month. We'll see if they continue to harrass me.
