Got a call today (11:34 am ET January 15th) from this number. The asian-sounding woman told me she was calling from the Business Development Office and asked me if my address was the same as the one she had on file.
Red flag immediately raised, I asked her to tell me about the company she was calling from. She told me she was updating the business directory. I knew this was a scam right away when she refused to be clear with me. I asked her if she was calling on behalf of the Canadian/Quebec governments, the Chamber of Commerce .. who? That I wouldn't be giving my information over the phone without validating the company's identity.
She hung up on me.
So not only do these scammers bother me in the middle of my business day, they hang up on me. Nice. There's a special place in hell ...

She said she was from Canadian Chamber of Commerce, calling to confirm address for directory - asked if we moved. Sounded Filipino/spam. I asked where she was calling from. She said, "I already told you." I said, "What city?" She named a nearby city. I said, "I haven't authorized any directory, this sounds like spam, goodbye." and hung up. Phone rang immediately - same number - I didn't answer. Didn't leave voice mail. Phone rang again, same number - I picked it up. She said, "I'm going to kill you." I (silly me) said, "Pardon me?" She said, "I know where you live. Wait for me." I hung up and called local police.

Just got a call from this number.  Male caller with similar M.O. to others listed.  Said from the B.C. Chamber of Commerce and asked if we had found new space or if still looking,  I smelled a scam but was also legitimately confused as to what they were talking about.  I did not asnwer and they hung up when I asked if this was for a survey or something.

Caller asked if we where moving and when. I told them I would call them back and she continued to ask where. I gave her an email to send all aof her questions and they then hung up. It was weird.

Said that she was with the Chamber of commerce  for Texas and she needed to update our listing or file and she needed to know if we were still looking for another office or if we had already found one. I put her on hold and googled her number and this came up. She hung up before I was able to speak to her again.

BTW, Chamber of commerce is for city and towns, not the state.

My caller ID showed: PAID 877 SVC  - 18820140105

Two calls today.  Claims to be from the State of Michigan Business Development office.  Asked if and when we planned on moving.  I asked her why she was asking.  She claimed the state needed to know and asked again.  I asked how many calls I could expect to receive in a day.  She hung up.  

Person with Indian accent said he was from the US Chamber of Commerce.  I laughed and said "What kind of scam are you running?"  He hung up.  I didn't realize until I looked up the number that it was the "when are you moving" call.  I always just hang up on them as soon as they say that.  The first couple of times I said we weren't moving but they kept calling and I don't have the time or the patience for that crap.  I think this has been going on for several years now.

They call about once a month and always say they are from the Michigan State Government Business Office (But they are speaking broken English lol ) Always ask if we found or are still looking for a new location, I always say never planned on moving and to never call here again.

Next time they call I'm just going to answer saying Thank you for calling the state of Michigan how can I help you? lol

DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION TO THIS NUMBER!  They change their number every year.  Last year it was 882-013-0105...makes sense 88...2013...0105, now its 88...2014...0105.  They have something to do with a furnature company.  This is a scam!  They are rude and persistent.  They called here 8 times within the last 5 mins.

They said they were calling from State of Illinois Development Office inquiring about a location move.  Been getting calls for over five years.  They always hang up on me.

The claim they are from "insert state or province here" chamber of commerce (or equivalent) want to know if we have located new office space yet. They call my work EVERY DAY, and every day I tell them to shove it.

Calls our business a lot.  Says they are from "Texas Department of Business (something)".  Most recently, I said, "We're not interested," and hung up.  They had the gall to call right back.

They called today - for like the 15th time this year - no I really am not exaggerating - all from different numbers, which claim to be the "XX" State Business Office.

I asked to be taken off the list, then accidentally dropped my phone. Woman actually called me back just to tell me I was rude and then hung up on me. Wow - thanks lady. Thanks to people like you I am now having to convert to an answering service for my business. I bill my clients by the hour. Every time you interrupt - you cost small businesses like me - more than the minute you interrupted - it is call brain switching time.

If you are working for this company - please - reconsider - do ANYTHING else for a living...

Once, I told them (the people in SE Asia calling claiming to be state officials) to take our name off, she started asking for common name.
"Well, can I speak with Mark/John/Luke (insert any biblical name here)?"

Today, she called "This is so-and-so from the state of Texas Business Development office."
It dawned on me that Google will only tell her that she is calling Texas, but not necessarily the city.
"Oh, so you're located at the capital in Austin?" (Incidentally, this is where I work!)
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Okay, well, I'll head over there about 2pm this afternoon, and we can discuss all the needs for our upcoming business move (we aren't going anywhere)!"

HAHA! She hung up.

Scam.  Trying to fish for information.  Said with City of San Antonio.  Then said with City of San Marcos Building Department.  Kept trying to get me to commit on a location or "move" as well.  

I picked up the phone to hear a guy chuckling softly on the other end. "Hello, I'm calling from the BC Business Development Centre" (with an 882 area code, I don't think it has anything to do with the province of BC). Plus, I had just gotten a similar phone call yesterday, asking if we were still located in the same place, and if we were moving. I'm sitting there, waiting, somewhat intrigued by the chuckling going on, wondering if he realized that we were actually connected when I had said hello - twice. I knew a stupid cold call was coming. When he asked if we were still located at "xx" location, I said "Yes, and we're not moving - thank you," then hung up!

Received a call today where she asked me to confirm my company name and address.  I said 'yes' to the company name and location.  Then she asked if my company was still looking for a new location.  I responded with a request to be removed from their list and she abruptly hung up.  I now regret saying 'yes' during our exchange as I have heard that crooked companies are now parsing conversations and using it to falsely confirm purchases of products and services I did not order.

Wow....she wears a lot of hats huh?   She called here (Oregon) and said she was from the Oregon Chamber of Commerce and wanted to know if we were still @ what is our current address...I said where are you calling from and she repeated.   I said yes.  Then she wanted to know when we were moving.  I said you are not from the chamber of commerce ....they would never ask that question and she hung up.  
So I am slow....what the hell kind of scam are they pulling with that information?  I don't get the scam???
