- adinFor me, the best way to stop this FAKE calls and "Duct cleaning calls" is :
When the phone rings check the ID, if you don´t know the number, don´t answer NEVER. You will notice a reduction in this kind of calls in a few days. Make sure to any in your home do the same.
Of Course if the call is legitimate, make sure that you have an answer machine, if really matter, the caller will leave a message.
If you have doubts, always you can type the phone in Google, the results will give you the answer!.
Good Luck! - KateI have gotten several calls from this number, as well as a few others - the last time they called, she said (with a Western Asian accent) that she was calling from the State of Massachusetts Business Development Office. Well, I told her that couldn't be, as there is no *State* of Massachusetts. We are a Commonwealth, and all government-type offices reflect that. Today, she called, and said she was calling from the Commonwealth of MA, so they must have changed their script. When I informed her that I had just searched the mass.gov web site for this office she worked for and was unable to find it, she hung up on me. I can't even figure out what it is these people want... ?
- Caller: Commonwealth of Massachusetts Business Development Office
- BrandiI had a message left on my work voice mail from this number. It hesitated for a brief second, and then a young female began singing. Sh ehung up after a few seconds. I found it very odd. I'm in Canada as well, so I'm not sure what this has to do with the calls stating they are from Massachusetts.
Strange.- Call type: Prank
- JoeNo message but when a spoofed number like this comes through... -014- isn't a valid prefix that I've ever heard of.
- LoriReceived a call from Mary who said she was from the State of California Business Development asking if we were moving. I said I had asked to be removed from their calling list. She abruptly hung up. What's up with that? In the past they have asked if we were planning on moving, etc. Sounds like a scam but what is accomplished?
- Caller: State of California Business Development
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Suspicious about inbound calls replies to EldridgeThe caller from this number told me that they were from the Tempe (a local city in AZ) Better Business Bureau, and inquired if we were going to be making a move soon. He cited our old address and asked me to confirm it (we moved from that location over 6 months ago). I am registered on the 'do not call' registry, and will file a complaint if they call again.
- Corporate Travel Management| 1 replyThis number called our company and I gave them the updated location information, HELP!!!!
Barbara Evans - jeffPhilippino lady called from this number asking if our office is moving, and said they called 6 months ago and there are from bbb lies...after a few questions she hung up
- wigivReceived a call from 882-014-0105. The caller claimed to be from Washington State Development something (the audio quality was terrible, and the caller had a difficult accent).
They asked questions about relocation and expansion plans for my business. Seemed sketchy so I hung up.- Caller: Washington State Development
- SSReceived a call from the 'Quebec Business - something or other'. I have asked several times to be removed from the list.
They asked for my name and last name when I refused they hung up.
Been calling our company for over 3 years. Wish I could stop this nonsense.- Call type: Telemarketer
- RRBI've been getting these calls for years. She claimed she was calling from Missouri Economic Counsel. I told her no she wasn't as I'm investigator who does work for the State of Missouri. She hung up the telephone.
- CBJust received yet "another" call from this one. On our business line. Stating they are from the State of Michigan wanting to verify that we are looking for a new location and have we found one, today I just flat out told him "I don't answer questions of this nature over the phone", he hung up.
- Caller: unavailable
- MSI work for a Chamber of Commerce, and we have very close ties with our members. A member e-mailed me today saying she got a call from this number. They said were a staff member from the chamber, and were asking if they had found a place to move yet. She was wary because she knows all of our staff. I warned her it's a scam and told her the Chamber would not call to ask anything like that unless her business specifically had requested information on realty agents or real estate
There are SOME state/provincial Chambers of Commerce (IE: BC Chamber of Commerce), but they would never contact you directly for information like that. We all have databases with our member information in them. Do not give anything to these people, and if you're not sure, ask for credentials! - MS replies to Corporate Travel ManagementI've done this before by accident, and nothing happened, they just kept calling and asking if we were moving. They will probably call you again and say they're from BBB. Just don't give any personal information and never say you're moving.
- ashleyWoman called my place of business and said she was with better business bureau and wanted to get our new address. She had an accent and her sentence structure sucked. Luckily I googled the phone number while on the phone with her and saw all your posts! Phew- dodged that bullet. I started asking her a bunch of questions and asked for her phone number, she gave me a bogus one ( I googled it too), and she hung up on me. SCAMMER!
- ChicagoTold me that she was with the State of Illinois BD office and wanted to know if we are moving in the next year. Junk call.
- Caller: State of Illinois BD Office
- Call type: Telemarketer
- KateJust received 2 missed calls from this number with no messages. Glad I decided to research the number before calling back. I know now not to answer the phone when this number shows up.
I've had several calls recently from other numbers asking if our company is moving.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Smarter than I lookGet these calls continuously at my place of business -- each time claiming to be from various organizations including the Better Business Bureau, the Provincial Business Development Office, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Two easy ways to identify these slimeballs:
a) The phone number isn't valid. The 3-digit prefix (after the area code) can NEVER start with a 0 or a 1. Red flag giveaway.
b) Simply ask them who the Premier of your province (or Governor of your state) is. They won't know sh@t.- Caller: Slimeballs
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ConnieReceived call from 882-014-0105 with strong accent saying he was from the State of Michigan Business Bureau and wanted information about our office, etc. I hung up on him.
- AnnThese jerks called again - we DO happen to be looking for space, but I have never acknowledged it to them. They are from the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and want to know if we have found space of if we are still looking (actually, we ARE looking . . .). Anyway, they've been calling for MONTHS and MONTHS now, and I'm tired of dealing with them. Today I was creative - after about the 18th immediate call back from them after I told them NO, we're not looking. Eighteen calls IN A ROW - none of them answered, all of them diverted. After that, I decided they needed to hear Glenn Beck (which I stream at work). They hung up. They called again and I treated them to a tape of Ronald Regan (they hung up again). Eventually, I read them their 'reviews' on this website. After eighteen PLUS immediate calls in a row - it's been a blissful 40 minutes of phone silence. Guess they didn't like your'alls reviews of them. Thanks!!!!!!
- Caller: "Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce" - NOT!
- Call type: Telemarketer
