Just received a call from an Asian sounding women, and wanted to know if we were still looking for space and when we planned to move.  She said she had talked to another employee a year ago.  She started call with I am updating my records and calling from the Colorado Chamber of Commerce.  She hung up on me.

They just called and said they were from the Ontario Business Development.  I asked where they were calling from and they said Ontario.  I asked where was the area code 882 located in Ontario and they hung up on me....oops did I happen to catch you in a lie.....YES!

Represented themselves very politely with an SE Asian accent as being from the California Chamber of Commerce. He said they were updating their files and asked if we were still located at <our address>. I said yes, and he asked if our office had found our new location for our offices or if we were still looking. I told them that we're not moving and we're not looking. He said thank you and hung up.

I know these guys are scamsters... data miners looking for info to sell to other companies, probably. They've called several times per year for years now. They keep changing the name of the company they're supposedly calling from, though.

Woman with a heavy accent called and said she was from the California Department of Business Development.  Asked obvious stupid questions about our location, blah, blah, blah...I recognized the call as fishy right away.  When I asked if there was a number that I could call her back at, she promptly hung up.

Indian sounding woman ("Marigo" or "Marigold".. something like that) called from "Massachusetts Commonwealth Department of Business Development Office" asking if we had found a place to move to or were still looking. I said "we were all set", she proceeded to ask when we were moving and I refused to give any information. I said I didn't want to be billed for anything so I wouldn't give any info. She said she is not trying to sell or charge for anything and was only calling from the Commonwealth to update their info on file by confirming current address and employee # info, I repeated I would confirm anything and she proceeded to ask to transfer to someone who would be able to answer. I transferred to my manager's voice mail. She called back 30 seconds later asking to speak to someone who would be able to provide the information to her. I explained the conversation to my manager and transferred the call to him.

They told me they were calling from the GA Chamber of Commerce. Wanted to confirm our address and asked when we would be moving. I said, "We're not moving." She said, "Ok, goodbye". Clearly a bogus call but I can't imagine how they're benefitting from the dumb questions they ask.
    • Caller: They say they're with a different company everytime they call.

Received a call this AM, also using Chamber of Conference approach for MN.  What the motive is I'm not sure -- perhaps trolling for real estate brokers, but it seems like a reach.

I had a call today feb/10/2014, a chinese lady asking questions if this was the address etc, she get this info from the internet, as she said exactly what I have on Google, then ask when we are moving, and I asked her who told her we where moving, then she said she is form the Mississauga chamber of commerce, there is no mississauga chamber of commerce. This sounds like china trying to find out info on USA and Canada, somehow related to real estate, but not quite sure. I think I will pass this to the RCMP to investigate this number 882-014-0105  hopefully they can stop this people from gathering information on our countries.

They keep claiming they are from our "local" chamber of commerce and asking it we have found the new location we wanted to move to. I argued with them because it was fun. Maybe if you sounded like you came from my country and your number came up local I would believe you. Not a very good scam. Although, I'm not sure how your scam works, since you didn't ask for anything at all.

The caller identified herself as calling from the "State of Washington" and I asked which department and she said "the Business Office."  Wanted to know whether our enterprise had found a new place to move to yet, which was very odd, as we are staying where we are with no moving plans.  I asked her where she got any information indicating we were planning a move, and she said she was just checking.  Then hung up.

A very polite young woman claimed to be from the .  (Accent plus soft voice plus loud background noise made her very difficult to understand.)  She prefaced her comments by saying she wasn't selling anything, then wanted to confirm our present address (which is NJ) and whether we were searching or planned to search for office space.  I said No, we were not, and she thanked me and hung up.  Area Code 882 is a paid 877 service.

NOTE 1:  Am not the same Switchboard who posted on February 3, 2014.

NOTE 2:  First sentence -- something went flooey.  Should read, "A very polite young woman claimed to be from the NEW JERSEY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICE."

The caller says they are from the Washington State Business Development office.  They call multiple times a day and hang up when I ask them to remove us from their call list.

The call usually starts with “ I am calling from the Washington State Business Development office and updating my records and want to know if we were still looking for space and when we planned to move”.   They are usually unintelligible with a thick ‘Asian’ accent and call multiple times a day.

Today they have called 3-4 times and it’s not even noon.  At first I was polite and told them I didn’t have that information available - they wanted to be transferred to someone who did.  Then I became suspicious and asked them to please remove us from their list and to stop calling, which usually ends in their hanging up on me, only to call back later.
