The lady, with a thick Asian accent, said she was from Washington State Business Development and wanted to know if there were any changes planned for the business this year.  SCAM for sure as all WA State calls come from (360)

Got one today... actually got 2 in a row. called her on calling me twice in a row and she went right back to her script. then when i repeated myself she hung up. Said she was calling from the Washington State Business Development office.

Asian woman who was barely understandable called with the line about moving to a new location... she claimed to be from the WA State Dept of Economic Dev.  I was cooperative about the moving questions, but then she switched the subject to number of employees.  When I told her how many, she hung up immediately, so I assume that's the information she was after.  

IF YOU ARE GETTING THESE CALLS, WOULD YOU PLEASE MENTION IF YOU IMPORT PRODUCTS FROM AN ASIAN COUNTRY, AND IF SO, WHICH ONE(S)?  I IMPORT STONE FROM CHINA AND INDIA.  I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THESE CALL ORIGINATE FROM CHINA, AND COMPANIES LIKE "IMPORT GENIUS" OUT OF CALIFORNIA GET PHONE NUMBERS FROM IMPORT DOCUMENTS.

Asian accented female claimed to be calling from Texas State Dept. of Business Development.  I told her, "Not interested, especially since this is not a Texas government phone number," and disconnected the call.  I heard her claim the call is computer controlled, so that's why the number is strange, as I disconnected.  I know this to be a falsehood.  The same number called again a few times, and I just declined the calls each time.

Best way to answer your business phone when this trash calls is to just keep saying "Hello?", "Hello?"....eventually, the little moron on the other end just hangs up when you don't identify yourself as a business entity.  I've found that if you do answer and then play the game with them, electing to hang up in their ear, the little scuzzbucket who made the call calls right back from a cell phone and starts getting combative.  Pretty nervy, eh?

At that point, a canned air horn in their ear works wonders and they usually don't call back again.

I got a call from this number, and they claimed to be the "Minnesota Commerce Department" which is funny, as I don't live in Minnesota (I live in Texas), I told them that I didn't live in Minnesota, and they accused me of lying, after which I hung up.

Someone called a gentleman, claiming to be from an organization similar to the Small Business Development Center (where I work). The caller had a Filipino accent and called herself  Alex.  Also gave a NYC phone (an apparently legit business) as a callback number.    the gentleman then called us to let us know. I don't get the angle!

Scammers claiming to be with "State of Texas Business Development Office.

Same here keeps calling and wanting to verify our info - well you know who your calling so I guess you have that info.  Alll they want is you to say YES for whatever reason...more than likely to send you a bill for verifying your information.  Also says they are from the State then the next time they call they are from the city government.  Gave me an 800 # to call back and its some bogus number...big shock.  Either calls from this number or calls from unavailable number.....

Today, on a federal holiday, it was the "State of Texas Business Development Office".

Called from the "Virginia Business Association" and asked if we were moving - we have gotten a call from this type of scam before. This is some type of lead service that will sell your information - we had an influx of calls from moving companies, IT companies, etc because of it.

As a small Texas firm, we do a fair amount of work with the State of Texas.  Having never heard of the "Texas Office of Business Development" despite our work, I had her verify that she did, in fact, work for our State government.  Of course, this was a lie, as no such agency or department exists.  I'm at a loss to understand the purpose of the calls (we received another one today), since they all seem to end with the Asian woman abruptly hanging up the phone, but have to believe that they serve some nefarious purpose in light of all of the effort involved.  I sought to return the call and received a recorded message from the provided that the voice mailbox had not been set up.  If anyone knows the true purpose of the calls, please let us know!

Numerous calls from a woman with the "State of Texas Business Development Office." I asked if this was a state agency, she said yes. I said I was on national do-not call list and asked for her name and direct number. She said "secret." I hung up. She called right back. I hung up. This continued 8 more times. She is calling right now as I type this.

They told me they were from the San Jose Economic Development Office. Sounded Indian.

When I asked pressing questions she kept saying "Umm" and changed the subject.

I said "It sounds like you're calling me from a call center" and she hung up.

Just got a call form this number.

A man with a strong accent told me he was form some texas government office, I can't remember what he said.
He asked me if we are still located at our old address.
Immediately suspecting a scam I thought to myself, "What can they do with this information?"
I came up with nothing and told him the truth, that we had moved.
He said, "Oh, you moved?" and hung up.

What are they doing with this information?

SCAMMERS - I had a call from this number today saying they were from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce.  I proceeded to ask them from what city chamber of commerce they were associated with.  He wanted information if our office was moving.  I asked for his name and number so I could call the appropriate city's chamber office and he got very hateful and hung up on me.

Caller said she was from the Texas something government office. Couldn't understand. Then she asked, are you still located at...(giving old address). I then said, 'who are you?' She hung up.

I got 29 calls from this number today at our office. They claim to be the "California Business Development Bureau". I've told these people to take us off the list a million times, so I hung up. When I finally asked the lady what she wanted (during call number 29), she said she "wanted to kill" me, called me profane names and then started getting racial because I kept hanging up on her.

Insanity.

I just got one of these. She said she was from the State of Missouri Business Development Office. So I said "Who is the governor of the State of MIssouri?" Sadly, she hung up. I love to mess with these people. I just can't figure out what the scam is.

Same message as everyone else is getting, except this is Oregon.  I demanded a supervisor and they hung.  I have been called about 20 times, including 4 times today.  Next time I am going to say I need help from them so I can found out who they are really representing.
