Received a call today from the above number. Caller ID said: Unavailable. That's funny...because that's what I am...unavailable...to answer these annoying calls. I just delete, delete, delete. No message is ever left...just a hangup. Love my answering machine and caller ID!

The guy SAID he was from Discover card, offered to lower my interest rate. I asked "What's the catch?" He said, "No catch. All you have to do is tell me your mother's maiden name and your social security number, to verify the account."  I hung up at that point. I don't supply personal information to a stranger over the phone.

The guy wanted my mother's maiden name and social security number, so as to "lower my interest rate."  I hung up at that point. Maybe you are lucky that you never answered personally. I think they want a person on the line, not a message machine, because it appears that way from reading the posts.

I've been getting calls from this number at least twice a day every day since Christmas.   I don't answer the call from Discover anymore since I saw on the news that Discover will call you to try to enroll you in something whether you want it or not and start charging you.  I called Discover and asked them to take me off the list but I'm not holding my breath.  My phone has call block feature so I programed to block the call from this number.

They ask by name, but do not want to leave a message.

calls come in at all hours,  from 9AM 'till 9PM. Answer picke it up, they never lv. a message.

Says she is from Discover and wants to make your card a preferred card

This is a call from Discover, offering credit protection for identity theft.

While my call was legit, it seems like a poor way to do business.
I called Discover via the number on my card.
They transferred me to the fraud department, which called the number that called me. They verified that it was coming from Discover. I asked to be removed, they said I would be... and then they keep calling...

The calls from this number 1888 204 8943 caller ID says UNAVAILABLE wake me up in the morning around 9.00 -10.00 am and evening 5.00-6.00 pm,HOW TO STOP THEM?????

If this is DIscover Card for real, they are certainly NOT going about this the right way Even if I wanted a Discover Card, I wouldn't have one, just because of calls like this. No name shows up in Caller ID, and these ppl NEVER leave a message or voice mail, which makes me suspicious

I am in agreement that these calls are "phishing" calls and I just got one where the girl stated that I had not used my card since early December and she was wrong - I used it after - so I asked if I could call back in and she said "yes" and to call 1-800-Discover!  I  didn't trust her because she sounded young and inexperienced - and possible a fly-by-night organization hired her to gain my trust.  They have old records - were some of Discover's records stolen?  I don't know.  She asked 'what can I do for you to use your card?'  I said lower my interest rate - then I got off.  I didn't trust the call.

Also, on call box it says "Toll Free Call"

I thought I was the only one who was getting called from them at random times.  They called on Sunday night at 8PM and at 8AM on a Monday and almost everyday for months.  I ignored them since I usually wasn't home but during the winter they called more frequency.  They usually want you to sign up for something but they call too much so I decided to google this number and got this post.  I have Verizon Fios package so I can block the number online.  If anyone uses Verizon or any service that provides, please use the call block feature and block them since it will save you so much agony and frustration.  Quiet phone, relief(for now).

I get the same calls 3 or 4 a day. Here is a # to call 1-877-382-4357 this is a complaint # and here is a # 1-888-382-1222 do not call list good for a year, have to do it again then. Or go to www.ftc.gov file a complaint. I did this today hope it works my phone rings.... caller ID says.... toll free call from 888-204-8943 hope this helps you all

Who is this that keeps on calling me?  What the hell do they want?
