Yes this call is legit, someone made charges on my debit card with my credit union and they thankfully blocked my debit card until I could call. Got everything straightened out and they reactivated my card within 5 minutes. So glad they were watching over me!!

I verified this number today (07/05/2012) and they are very legitimate. For anyone concerned, it's very easy to check them out with your credit union, but even if you didn't do that, the information they're confirming and the verification you're asked to provide wouldn't compromise your account or reveal any personal information that would allow someone to use your account.

It appears the people that are claiming this is a scam have not actually bothered to check it out.

    Do not call these people!
I received a message from them last night to verify credit card charges. They have my credit union name, my name and my phone number.  Today, the CEO of my credit union told me they do NOT have any 3rd parties contacting members about their accounts.  Frauds!

    Definitely a fraud.

I called them, and the conversation went like this: "- May I have your name and case number? - 1492171 - May I have your name? - No. - Then why are you calling us? - You left me a message with your phone and case number and asked to call you back. -- They hang up."
Anyways, I called my bank next -- and they confirmed that the number is not associated with them, and that there was no suspicious activity or red flags or blocks on my account.

So could it be that they're in fact a legit fraud investigation company hired by my bank, however the bank representative I talked to is simply not aware of them? Well, maybe there is a small chance of that.
Could it be that a legitimate fraud investigation company would use exactly the same method of operation as the potential scammers (that is, ask you to call back on an unverifiable/suspicious number)? No way.

They called on behalf of Bethpage Federal Credit Union.  I verified it with the bank and the company clearly had access to my recent transactions.  The transaction was declined and they told me to call BFCU and order a new card.

After reading the rest of the thread, there is definitely something weird here.  But my bank confirmed the number as legit and they already had all of my transaction information.

If you google the number, there are many seemingly legit bank websites that list this number as their fraud department.

Received a call on my cell -- not home, but missed the call.  Got their voicemail when I called back, something about card security and credit unions.  I didn't go further because I don't answer questions about that stuff on an unsolicited call.  I did call my credit union who checked with their card security and there are no issues on our cards, so it's all very strange if this is a legitimate company.

Falcon Fraud Management -- yes, they are legitimate and usually work with your bank to block fraud on your credit/debit cards. I just talked to my bank about them calling me - and the CS agent I spoke with was able to access my information on my card -- and we verified that there was a charge on my card that was not of my own doing. Someone tried using my account at a hotel in another state- I am home - not at a hotel out of state. If you are ever uncertain your bank should be able to find out for you if you are ever concerned.

As usual with numbers I don't recognize, I googled it and came across this thread. Seeing all the claims of scams, I was concerned so I did some digging before calling back. A quick search of the company's name (Falcon Fraud Alert Management) along with my credit union name (BECU) came up with a news item on my credit union's website saying they had partnered with this company in an effort to eliminate fraud for their customers. As far as I'm concerned, that makes this a completely legitimate phone call. Anyone saying otherwise either hasn't done any research or else has proof of wrong-doing he or she isn't sharing with the rest of us.

Oops, when I said to search the page for Falcon Fraud on the BECU news post, I should have said search for Fraud Alert, as the text that actually references Falcon is hidden under a collapsible header.

I received a message from this number saying they are calling to verify recent activity on my bank card. Instead of calling them I called my bank directly, talked to member services and they said there is nothing going on with my card or account. I decided to call the number back but hung up when they asked for my date of birth. The funny thing is they know my work number and my mobile number. They left messages at both numbers. I NEVER use my work number for anything! I'm calling it a scam.

As many of you received this call, so did I.  I had my suspicions too.  I checked my account first and didn't see any thing. I called my CU directly and did not call this 800 number. I questioned my CU Rep and he said there were no strange activity found.  He did say that Falcon is a legitimate company.  However, he said that why would they call you and there is no other charges found on my account?

I just got a call from this number saying that there was a $1.00 transaction made on my account when I did not make that transaction. They said that they would deactivate my card and transfer me to my CU - I got transferred and my CU was asking me for my information, like card number, name, or SS number - I hung up and called my CU directly so I could have more control over the situation. When I called my CU they said that sometimes their fraud department will transfer people back to them so it seems as if they are getting an incoming call. So apparently it was legit.

I received a call from this number and let it go to voicemail. I listened to the message and then Google'd the number. Found this posting. Called my credit union and was transferred to this company thru my credit union. Good thing. Someone was trying to purchase tablet accessoried for $307 thru ZAGG.com. I don't own a tablet. They also tried to put charges at a Tudor Hotel. I am currently at home working on my kitchen. If you get a call from this type of company I would HIGHLY suggest you call your financial institution ASAP, make sure it is legit, and call them right away. Your debit or credit card has been compromised and you need to refute the charges asap to avoid a big hassle or ALL your money being taken.

don't take my word for it, of course, but i just received a call from this number wanting to verify some debit card activity. i wasn't sure about the phone number, so i called my bank first and checked up on my account. then i told the BECU rep about the call, she verified the phone # as Falcon, and said it should be fine to call them back. so i did, and the only info they asked for was the reference # from their voice mail they left me, and the last 4 of my social, and then asked me about 2 online purchases i had made. which seemed out of the ordinary. anyway, 888-241-2440 is Falcon, and they just monitor these kinds of things for credit unions. but again, do the investigating on your own through your financial institution to verify that info. it's easy.

I received a message from this number the same day I made a large purchase, they're just looking for confirmation that it was a legitimate purchase.

This is a legitimate company that works for Credit Unions. They do not ask for any account information they just need you to verify any debit/credit transactions to make sure they are valid.

So, since I have been getting calls from those scamming "Rachel from Cardholder Services" numbers, I ignored this number as well. Well, they left a voicemail (something the scam never does) with a case number.

So I called them back to find that someone tried using my debit card across the country...in a state I haven't been in for about 6 years.

I have that account only to pay bills, so once I get a deposit from my job it is all gone...so they couldn't get much out of it anyways (the charge was for under $3).

So in short, those of you think this is a scam, it is not (and this site doesn't have an option for this company, which is why I put "Non-profit Organization").

I did report this call to my credit union (Denver-based Whitecrown Federal Credit Union), of which I have been a member since 1982, and they validated that Falcon monitors its members' accounts for fraudulent activity 24 hours a day. Falcon flagged two fraudulent charges on the same day that they occurred and contacted me immediately. I hung up on the first call from them when I saw the hysterical postings here asserting that the company is a fake. Then I checked my account activity and saw two hefty charges to online florists that I did not make. Falcon is not fake - they are bona fide. The real shill postings here are the ones who claim the company is fraudulent. All you have to do is check it out for yourself. Good thing I did.
