- Marin| 2 repliesThey have called my work line several times, a number that my bank doesn't even have. I am not a credit union member. After seeing this page, I would just brush it off as a wrong number, but they never leave a message. Legitimate company though it may be, they should know enough to leave a message on a number they call multiple times. Just breathing into the phone for twenty seconds isn't good business practice.
- Caller: Falcon Fraud (apparently)
- josh replies to Marin| 1 replyi just dealt with these guys. they are legit. i use a credit union and someone has made some crazy fraudulent charges on my account. i'm glad they called me. i might not have noticed for weeks. sounds like maybe some folks have received wrong numbers, but they're legit. if you're worried, just call your bank first. but like other folks said, they may just shut down the account if they don't hear from you so that more charges don't occur. in my case, they did leave a voice mail explaining what was happening.
- CT100% legitimate caller. Cardholder services for my credit union, calling me to verify some recent purchase activity. The only identifying data they request are your name, the case number (they'll leave this in their voicemail to you), and your date of birth. They'll then ask you to verify if the purchase were legitimate. Not a telemarketer, not a scam.
If they call you, definitely call them back to make sure someone isn't going crazy with your debit/credit card.- Caller: Cardholder Services
- DMi didn't have to give them any info other than the case# my name and sec verification asked about the charges and confirmed them easy. It's nice to know some one is looking out for you.
- Caller: fraud service center
- SGThey are for real.....I'm glad I called, of course after checking with my credit union to see if they were legit. My card was compromised....They asked for my case# and date of birth. Then asked about a transaction that was not mine.. I told them and now I am off to the credit union to get a new card...
- Caller: Fraud Service Center
- TrinaI received a call from this company. Was hesitant to call back but since it was the weekend and my card was blocked to where even I couldn't use it, I called. They told me about two high priced transactions I didn't make along with the last two I did. They gave me the times and everything. This is not bogus and I'll take a block on my account any day versus unauthorized transactions that are able to complete withdrawing money from my account. Didn't need to spend the weekend money anyway ;-)
- keoni keonidont give any infornmation... its a fraud....
- cu_ladyIt appears to be a legitimate call; my credit union has their name listed under fraud protection services.
- Caller: Falcon
- fastskinnydogsGot the call from "Card Member Service", along with a case number, about possible fraudulent activity on my credit union debit card. I gave them the case number, but they then wanted my DOB and the last four of my SSN. Forget that! They said they needed to verify that they were actually talking to me. I refused because that's what scammers ask for. They refused to continue and told me to call my credit union. I'll have to wait until tomorrow when the CU is open.
- Caller: Card Member Service
- BobGot call from this #, they asked if I had just been trying to reserve hotel rooms in California, I had not. They said in that case, my BECU mastercard was being used fraudulently and turned it off before any charges posted. They had a list of my other recent charges that I did make, so it seems they are legit.
I almost didnt answer this #, if you get a call I suggest you answer it asap.- Caller: fraud prevention
- PookahThis number is legit. I received a call from them, but I didn't pick up. I googled the number and found this page.
I had just made an online payment to AT&T for my cell phone.
They asked me for a case number, which I didn't have (I suppose they left it on the voice mail I didn't check). They asked me for the last four of my debit card, my name, and the last for of my SS#. I didn't have to give too much information to get this settled, since they had it on their end. - GeeCeeLegit co. Called them back using the fraud number on BECU's website - THEN discussed my account. Made purchase in Aussie that had them worried. All ok.
- Phone FerretFor once I can vouch for the caller. This is a Fraud protection unit. They called within minutes of an attempt to make a legitimate purchase from a Hong Kong site. So, thanks to our Government we have to pay twice as much to buy the same product from Amazon - NOT.

- Bad Mr Fr0sty| 1 replyLike many of you, I was very hesitant at first to return this call. But after researching on this site and another about this number I called; the number, is in fact, legitimate. They asked for no username or password, or anything that would give my card away. They simply verified a few charges after multiple attempts of me attempting to buy something online, that was all.
Hope this is helpful to anyone else wondering- Call type: Event reminder
- PeterReceived a call from these jerks. However, only a message was left on my machine; I did not call them back. The message stated they wanted check on some activity on my account. I called my account holder who stated that any activity that is deemed suspicious is handled directly by them, not an outside party, and my account provider stated that this was probably a scam in an attempt to obtain additional personal information. Screw that number.

- GarrettThis number links to a fraud detection agency that is used by my Credit Union. They were calling to check on a couple unusual charges on my debit card, one was a legit charge by me to Amazon, and the other was from a "BELVEDEREINN #13" for which I have never heard of, the charge was relatively small, however the agent made a point in saying they hit you for a small amount to test the card then larger and larger amounts til they're declined.
- nkh6200 replies to D.Martin| 1 replyIt is in fact a fraud protection agency for credit unions. I recently got a new checking account and debit card with my credit union and they called to make sure it was me who was trying to make online purchases. It was a relief to me that they cared about my protection! This is not a scam!
- Lisa| 1 replyThey called me, I looked up the number and read previous entries, then checked my account and there was a charge there that wasn't mine. So I called my Credit Union and they started me on the dispute form and confirmed my card was blocked and to come in for a new one. It should take 5 business days to clear up the charge. I'm really glad this process works so well.

- Fraud Squad| 2 repliesPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of non-stop shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- anonymous replies to JeffJeff spews nonsense. 888-241-2440 is likely a scam because:
1. If you get a call from a "fraud avoidance" company alleging your card may have been compromised and wants you to call them back on 888-241-2440, you should NEVER call 888-241-2440 but you should contact your bank directly like login into your account via the internet, or CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD but you MUST NEVER call a unverified number left/given by a stranger.
2. You should NEVER give out info of ANY kind as Jeff suggests, like the last 4 digits on your card or your birthday to a stranger who has left you an unverified number to call.
3. If you have questions, then CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
