I received a call from this company yesterday.  I pushed "1" and spoke with a lady.  She is telling me I owe a bill that I have never received any notification about -- from either the company that I supposedly owe it to or this company.  She wanted me to set up payment arrangements or pay it in full.  I told her I would not pay something that I have no proof of.  She told me they are going to file a court civil case against me and garnish wages and take the money out of our bank account.   What bothers me is she had my address and last four digits of my social security number.  She told me she was writing down everything I was saying to her.  I tried to call the number back that was left on a message last week and it just keeps ringing - no answer or voice mail.  

i got the call from 410-403-8959.  Same message from "John Stratton" but it called my job yesterday and cell phone today.  I was a little worried until I googled the number they gave to return the call.

This is a scam. They want u to pay with credit card. Tell them to send any thing to you in mail. Process servers don't call u on phone.

The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I have been getting calls since February from a JOHN SPENCER and now it's JOHN STRATTON! They keep telling me I have 48 hours or there is possible litigation against me in my county. I even contacted an attorney I used to work for immediately to ask him to look into it for me. His first question was am I sure it's not scam.  Did you google it? They keep changing the call back numbers slightly. This is very annoying and I am not sure how to RESOLVE THIS.  I did call back once and told them I contacted my attorney. They said we know where you live and ended hanging up on me.  Please help. It was very upsetting at first. Now it's more annoying. They are calling almost every other day! How can I resolve this issue???

Like everyone else, same story with the recorded message going back and forth between John Spencer and John Stratton. I have called the 888-259-2437 number they provide and on both occasions the phone rings about 20 times and then to a voice mail system telling me to leave a message since they are not available. They have called using at least 20 different numbers and have gone as far as having a live person call my relatives and even my employer, telling them I have 2 hours to respond or I will be served a court summons. They are relentless and can get a normal person to think about it more. Check your credit report to make sure nothing is being added without your knowledge. They are the scum of scammers and they fish around trying to catch that one in twenty.

Same as everyone else; what odd is they do not mention who they are trying to contact.  I just get a robo call telling me I have 48 hours or there is possible litigation against me in my county.   I've been getting calls for the past for 6 months now, and it's getting annoying.  I did report them to AG and FTC, which I highly recommend.  I also skeptical of companies using VOIP Level 3 communication (spoofing).   It's  deceptive and sketchy, not sure if this is legal.

Got the same call as those above. Spoofed a local number first. I have been receiving calls like this since around November. At first the name was 'John Spencer' now it's 'John Stratton'. The voice sounds the same. They provide a case number, give 48 hours and say 'good luck'. I have also received calls from various other numbers with similar schemes. They all seem to be the same 'company'. I have never called back, and have blocked as many of the numbers as I can. I also believe this is some type of scam.

I just received a phone from "John" about a debt from Sprint home phone. I spoke with a Vicky White, who said there is a Civil Suit against me. Which is a complete lie!!! So I called back and spoke with Melody who was SO rude. This is nothing but a scam!!!!! 1.888.259.2437

I am an attorney in Oklahoma and received a call from a lady in Louisiana this morning that she received one of these calls. She found my office online. I told her that it wasn't my law firm that contacted her. NO ONE will receive a "collections call" from our firm such as those described on this post.

These fkrs are persistent! I just got a new number from them and it appears like they are using a phone system that shows a local caller id. So if you are in L.A., you will get a number that seems to be from L.A. or a nearby city. In my case, they called from (213) 261-0105 and to call them at 888-259-2437. I think these people are a pre-paid legal syndicate that scams people because after I gave my business card to one in downtown L.A. while at a business mixer, I soon started getting these bogus calls. I wish i knew who this is so I can put an end to it.

I just got this call - they left a voice mail on my office phone. I called back twice. The first time I was on hold and hung up. The second time I was asked for a case number and told this did not pertain to me. They were looking for someone else. The person who answered (probably a receptionist) asked if I was calling from a couple of numbers with 703-767 prefixes and said she did not know why I got the call since I was not the person they were looking for

I have been getting calls from this number with the same message. I have tried to call back with no luck of anyone answering but today a woman who identified herself as "Shaie Gil" answered. I told her I thought it was a scam and she got very defensive saying she works for the courthouses and she could tell me her license number which she said was A-5161718 (probably could have picked a more real looking number). I asked where I could look her up to verify her information. She said the name of the person associated with my phone number is David Woods and that if I have anything to do with him I am putting my foot in my mouth because she's tracing the call with the FBI. At the end I told her that I know times are tough but that she should try to find a job where she's not scamming people and can feel better about herself at the end of the day. She hung up on me after that.

Have received several calls from this number with the same recording.  I don't have any un-paid debts so I called in and spoke to "Lauren" about this.  She just hung up on me. I called back and she hung up on me again.  I'm going to look into this more and see who's really behind this.

It is a joke. Those dummies try to scam people. Call them back, have some fun with it. They have no leg to stand on, except some empty threaths.
