I'm trying to look into this more. That's very scary if that is where they got my information from! I'm not signed up with anything else online or have any open account that have my social security number so I think it's from credit karma.

Got the same message today from 302-414-8659 and asked me to call 888-259-2437 over a loan I supposedly took out in 2010. I never took out such a loan and therefore began to challenge him. He hang up on me and didn't answer the phone when I tried to call back. It is a scam and I've received so so so so so many of these calls from so so so so many different numbers claiming the same with different amounts. Anyone here ever apply for a loan on loan.com or credit.com? We made the mistake of applying for a car loan in 2008 on this website because we thought that they would pull our credit once and have different lenders offer us good rates without each one pulling our credit individually. Big mistake. I strongly suspect that this is where our information was compromised because we started receiving these calls in 2010.

These folks are back at it again. John Stratton robocall (I guess John Spencer got fired. Funny how they sound exactly the same.) about possible pending litigation in my county, giving the 48 hour deadline and ending in a ridiculous 'good luck'. These phone calls and others very similar to them, have been going on for about 8 months or so now. Nothing ever comes from it. They're apparently fishing for information. I block the number and have peace for awhile until they start using new ones. Today the number they spoofed on my caller ID was 302-483-7032

Yes they are spoofing and using a virtual telephone system as well. Trying to track it down, anyone have any luck yet. Gonna sue the pants off them.

This guy named Jamal called by from Oracle Financial saying he was an arbitrator and going to send an officer to my place of employment and my home and wanted to verify my address.  I asked him what it was regarding and he said he couldn't tell me until I verified who he was.  I took his # 716-242-5208 and the call also came from a 844-215-0812 which shows up as "unavailable".  I am freaking out.  Is this a scam?

Yes it is--total scam.  They are pretending to be process servers.  No legitimate process server tells you in advance that they are gong to serve you.  They just show up.

Received a call from this number on numerous occasions reporting threats of litigation if I did not contact them back.  Reporting them to the local authorities.

Process servers don't call you they just show up. This is a scare tactic.

After several days of calls (remember I only had 48 hours)  I responded to find out what it was about.  The rudest lady with a heavy black accent took the call.  She refused to provide me with a physical address or information on why they called.  It appears to be a "fishing expedition" to try to find people for an undisclosed reason to scam them.  She needs to remember she called me- not the other way and perhaps should take a few lessons on how to deal with the public.

now it's David Jenkins, 302-414-8659. litigation re a credit card debt.  i don't even have a credit card. crazy.

If You Ever Had Any Type Of Internet Loan , Payday Advance, Cash Service, Money Pack, Or Anything Similar Where Your Personal Info & Phone Number Are Out There, And/Or You Used Your Parents, Family Members, & Job Numbers/Info For References, Warn Them About These Scams...You Don't Want A Family Member To Be Caught Off Guard By A Random Call From An "Investigator" Or "Arbitrator" Or "County Locator".....Also, Advise Your Employer If You Can Do So Without Them Getting Upset About It. It's Prolly More Embarrassing & Seems More Shady To Have To Explain The Calls To Your Boss After The Fact Than To Just Give Them A Heads-Up Beforehand.

These calls originate from many different carriers, so I've been unable to pinpoint a specific company/line owner so far.

I have called several numbers back, first as my client's attorney and then as my client.  When I called on behalf of my client to get address info to send the cease and desist and discharge injunction sanctions warning letters, the representative gave me a fake business name and mailing address.  When I called posing as my client to see if I would get a different response, the rep told me he was trying to sell car insurance.  I called from my office number, so I suspect that number is in their system as a debtor's attorney--which triggers a different script.  

I was just informed this morning that this company is calling discharged debtors posing to be the debtor's bankruptcy attorney and telling the debtor that they need to pay $$ to prevent some negative action on their case.  This company is out of control and we definitely need to figure out where these calls are coming from and how to bring these people down.  It's just hard to do that right now when we're blinding firing into thin air.

I would recommend everyone try to gather as much information as possible from the caller--company they work for, company for whom they are attempting to collect debts, etc.  Pretend to be willing to pay.  Offer fake information about yourself to test the amount of info they have about you.  Don't give any personal information.  Mix up numbers on the case number they give you to determine whether that case number means anything.  Don't go so far as to give account information--just far enough to determine what the caller wants.  Keep a log--call from; reference to; call back number; time of call; name of caller; notes, etc.  I've just created a place to try to encourage and consolidate posts with  information related to these calls and the company making the calls.  You can post details about your experience at stopcallingusorsuffertheconsequences.blogspot.com.  

If it is a debt collection company behind the calls, we will eventually bring them down.  I think that the FBI should probably be notified on all fronts as well because their resources are obviously a little better than the average person when it comes to communications data.
