I also received a letter from the same company and same phone number. I knew it was a scam from the start, but I always do some checking first, so I was right. Thank you for your input.

If you get strange, but important looking mail: Look at the postage area.  What does it say?  Standard Mail = bottom of the barrel lowest cost bulk mail rate.  To send Standard mail, it must be many thousands and be substantially identical, and contain no personal correspondence.  The USPS won't return it to sender unless the mailer has agreed to pay the reurn postage.  The majority of Standard mail doesn't even have any prior agreement to pay return postage in the case of non-delivery.  By the looks of it, the sender of the AVS letters doesn't agree to pay the return postage.  They're just thrown out (or recycled) at the local PO or somewhere in the mail stream treated as Dead Mail.

Thank you all!! I got a letter today, saying that I won a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, or $49,000 cash and a $1,500 shopping spree and an exotic island adventure. I almost got all excited thinking I won all kinds of cool stuff. It was from "AVC Claims Center" in Texas.

I was not that disappointed I won two (2) trips.one to la Vegas, the other u get to choose from Aruba, Jamaica, Puerco Rico, Hawaii, Oahu, last Maui.i chose Jamaica.  The reason I said I wasn't that disappointed because the agent made it seem like my family and I was going to have extreme amount of fun. We drove 2 hours and only stayed for half a hour. Another thing they are not clear about is you can't choose to pick any prize ( like the shopping spree or car or value ($49,000)cash or $500 or a for vacation 5 nights-4 days).There is a ticket you scratches off (that you choose yourself from a pile of tickets) and if you get 5 pot of gold you win the $49.000. if you don't there is a number on the scratches off card, with that number the agent show you a paper and where your number is that's the prize you win! So YES YOU COME HOME WITH SOMETHING MAYBE NOT WHAT YOU WANT BUT DEFINITELY TWO PRIZES!

I got one too. I do remember one of those "Timeshare"deals like this and one of the prizes was a "MOTORBOAT"...It shure was...those that turned up for the "HARD SELL" tactics who took the tour "WON" the motorboat which somebody left a door open going to find a restroom i looked inside to find a wall full up with motorized 4 person sized RUBBER RAFTS...emediatly showed them to wife who wanted to go in first place and LOL half of the room was waiting to tour...THEY LEFT WITH US!!!

The one that came in our mail today was addressed to a woman who lived at this address over 13 years ago!  And she died three years ago!

I received my 1st letter from AVC Travel on yesterday and went to Google to check it out.  I am so glad that I did!!  The call toll free number on mines is: 800 309-8595 and says the same thing stated in all of the messages I've read here.  The only change is the phone number at times and it lists "Susan Murray as the Sales Director" with her signature.  If I do reply, I'll type a statement and put it in the envelope and address her as Dear "Grand Scam"  I know who I am, and we know who you are, north, south, west and east, near and afar!  Fold this response and put it in your Cookie Jar!

When I filled out the paper at the beginning I put that I was a STUDENT WITH NO INCOME just for kicks and to see what they would do because obviously I wouldn't be able to pay for anything they were trying to sell. Everyone else was waiting for a while to get called and someone called me right away and said that since I was a student I did not need to go through with the presentation but I would just go redeem my prize right away. saweeeet! So I went in and got a $40 gift card for gas expenses or whatever I choose to use it for and I also won the vegas or orlando vacation. Not exactly sure if that is legit or not or what kind of loophole there is for them in the free trip. But hey, if you all every get called to go just say you have no income and go try and win one of the big prizes!

I got that exact same letter from a Susan Murray.  I discarded the first letter and they sent me another supposed "final notice" postcard.

This happened to me in Hawaii last year, we received free Luao, parasailing and 2 hr cruise diner free after accepting to attend the timeshare sale. We stuck to our guns and din't sign up for anything yet we enjoyed our free goodies.

I received this too today and most people in here seem to have decided not to go along with it and just assume it's a scam.

I'm attending soon and i was guaranteed to go home with 2 prizes. Since i don't live far from the place (Conroe, Texas) i'll go and check it out.

866-804-8590 another letter came today.  Got one last year and went out to Conroe to listen to their 90 minute talk - high pressure sales, but I kept saying no.  I did get a voucher for a free cruise for two (4 nt) out of Galveston - one year to take - lots of rules on the back of the voucher/certificate - but my sister and I just got back from the free cruise Galv to Cozumel.  Hey, it was 90 minutes on a Sunday afternoon to get a free cruise - works for me.  Think I will do it again.

I get lots of those dumb blue postcards saying I won a free blah blah blah and to call some number in 72 hours.  I have always just thrown them in the shredder.  Last week, I got a phone call from some lady telling me the same spiel that the blue postcard has printed on it.  I actually didn't realize it was the same company on the phone that keeps sending me the postcards until I came across this forum.  Anyways, the lady started her spiel, and I kept interjecting her just to make sure that it wasn't a recording (since it sure sounded like she was reading straight off some instructional call sheet).  I had been drinking and didn't have anything better to do at the time, so I thought I would mess with her for a little bit to see if I could get her to hang up.  When she finished her spiel she asked if I wanted a new Mercedes.  I told her no, and she started asking me why I wouldn't want one.  I started telling her about their Chinese manufacturing plants and asked her if she could offer a bmw or audi instead... she didn't like that and said that I would just get a free 4 day trip to Vegas.  So then I asked her where I would be staying, and she told me it was some resort that was so successful that they didn't have to advertise.  I started giving her a marketing 101 lecture about brand recognition being vital in a global economy.  After about 20 minutes, she started back with her spiel from the beginning.  I "rudely" (I don't know if anyone can actually be rude to these people) interrupted her and asked her if she had been listening to anything I said.  She said very smugly "yes I have sir.  You said that you didn't want my free trip."  To which I started telling her that I did want a free car and a free trip, but it had to be to my own specifications, not hers.  I made her repeat what I said, similar to how you make an infant or small child repeat something.  She seemed very insulted that I was making her repeat me.  After about 35 minutes from when she called me, she asked if I was going to take her offer.  I told her that if she was paying any attention to me, that she already knew the answer.  She then said thank you very much, goodbye, but did not actually hang up the phone.  I was on a wireless speakerphone, so I just pressed mute on my receiver and put my phone down to see how long it would take for her to hang up.  She stayed on the dead line for about 4 minutes then hung up.  Funny thing, I haven't gotten any more calls from them ever since.

Now, I am going to point out the fallacies in their operation.  Logically, there is no way for anyone to know when you get mail through USPS without a delivery confirmation, so that is the first red flag.

Any REAL important mail always come via certified mail or sign on delivery private courier

Anything that looks like it is mass produced (like the cheapo postcards) is intended to be distributed to a large population and only requires a small percentage of that population to respond to make it beneficial to the sender.

The phone number they call me on is my land line house phone that I do not use for anything more than a mandatory security monitoring primary line.  A call to my cell phone might have fooled me for a second longer than a call to my phone number that no one even has.

I have a valid email address setup that I give out to the public.  It is not my real email address that I use for my personal email communication, but rather an email that I know will not bounce back, but will never have anything useful for me.

I've managed a call center before.  The difference between high end headsets and the cheap garbage that anyone can just pickup from a store is night and day.  Anytime you can hear any background noise or the person on the other side is muffled or cannot hear what you are saying, you can rest assured that they are on a $15 Wal-mart headset and not working for a legitimate company.  I've never had any trouble differentiating between "C, D, T, S, P, F, M, N" or any numbers while on a high-end commercial grade headset.

A pushy salesperson on the phone is never someone you want to do any business with, regardless if they are legitimate or not.
