Same address listed with the previous  individuals but the new number is now, (888) 255-7046, Credit Card Assistance Program or "CCAP". My check is for $15,000 and they even give you a CCAP secure approval code number and of course it's signed by the famous John L. Clark...SCAM, SCAM, SCAM....

I received a letter about SLAP - Student Loan Assistance Program with the same Washington DC address as listed in the other comments.  number 888-389-2560.  I looked onine to see if this was a real program....found this information thankfully!!! It seemed too good to be true & that disappoints me!!!

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

I just received one of these today - same address and for SLAP-The Student Loan Assistance Program, different phone number than those above - 888-214-1949. I knew it was too good to be true after what I've been through with my loans over the last few years. What bothers me the most is that they know how much my student loan debt balance is. I think I'll follow the advice of someone from another blog about this scam:

I received a letter in the mail today from the same people at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. about the "student loan assistance program" with the phone number 888-214-2542. Looks like a scam there's nothing on Google showing the validity of this offer. Tisk tisk they had me for a minute there.

Got a reduction notification. Called and they just said "hello?" No company name listed. Put me on hold for a while and then said she would have to have someone call me backs. So after google I found nothing in the phone number 866-864-9034. Company name is now Liberty Financial Help Center which also brings up nothing in Google. But they have this address listed. I have a Form 2016-1 which is actually nothing. Glad I googled, hate they have my number now :/

i got one on 3/18/16 the company claims to be called "slap" now. the number 888-227-1731. still with the same address.

I received letter and check saying they could save me money then checked on line t see if a scam. Came across this site and others. Number I have is 888-269-0991

Got something from the exact same address selling Student Loan Assistant Program. New number 1888-227-3506.

I got one two with the same address and different phone #. It is 888-269-0998. There was check of 95 thousand, they claim they are Student loan Assistance program -SLAP. When I called a lady answered and said, : their loan advisors are all busy. someone will call me. When I asked what is this, she said so do not know, she is just receiving calls. After 2 hours a call from Lincoln, Ne came and I did not answer. He left a message that I should return his call in a different number so he will give me directions. I did not call I knew there was fishy about it. They are still calling using another number from Lincoln, Ne, I ignored it.

Any communications received by US mail which appear fraudulent should be taken down to your local post office so that the postal inspectors can take a look at it.  This could be mail fraud.

I got this letter today claiming to be SLAP Student Loan Assistance Program signed by Steven A Smithe  Toll free number 888-287-5869.  Must be a scam but they did know the amount of my loan which is puzzling.

I got the same thing. Said the office is not open right now but I'll have someone call you back. Seems a little fishy to me and a little worried of how they know how much debt I have in student loans :(

My daughter received what looks like a check, but it was not and it states "not a live check" above the amount.  The notice along with it says she has qualified for SLAP due to the high balances on her student loans.  Just remember that no legitimate company will contact you to offer you loan forgiveness, you must contact your loan servicer for arrangements.  Please do not provide or even call these people.  They are fishing for personal information.

Got one for 109000 different number seemed fishy to me

These people are crooked. Very legitimate looking mail. Had a "check" signed by a Steven Smithe through the program SLAP....still the same address that everyone else listed, just a different phone number... (888) 294-2701. Almost had me fooled. I'm worried though because they knew almost an exact amount of what I owe on my student loans. Hoping my identity isn't compromised. I have been getting a lot of scam mail lately...
