I received the exact same phone call from Ellie. We apparently won a $50,000 home makeover. Luckily I read these posts before I called back. I thought that it might be legit because my wife had filled something out recently, and the caller had left the extension 421.

Same message, same #, same extension.  Said I won $50,000 in a home makeover.  Interestingly, I have been entering home makeover sweeps online.  I called, no answer, but hung up in about 5 seconds.  Something told me it was a scam and they could "get" me in some way without even answering.  Then I decided to check it out on-line.  Thanks everyone for verifying the scam.  I hadn't gotten my hopes up, so I'm not too disappointed!

Elle seems to be a very popular girl.  Wonder home much she makes off these calls.  Got a call from her yesterday 6-14-12.  Luckily, I never call back these numbers until I check the internet.  So glad to know that all this information is out there for us to find.

My story is exactly the same. No need to call. Just another BS scammer.

Yep, I won a $50,000 home makeover. LOL! I have entered HGTV sweepstakes but I would assume that they would state that the call was for "Kim XXX" and that it was HGTV calling...still waiting for that call...Not returning Ellie's call. :(

Imagine that!  During the week of 6/11/12, I got the very same call from Miss Ellie from the Verification Center!  However I was to call back extension 421, not 221. And my prize was a $50,000 home make over.  And amazingly enough, I apparently had filled out a contest form at a movie theater, mall or online sometime in the past 12 months too!  But my name wasn't picked, it was "pulled" (note - the msg did not say I "won", and she also did not ever say my name or phone number - it's a automated recording).  First and foremost,  because of scams like this, I do not ever fill out any contest forms - ever - so lie number one.

So just for fun, I decided to call the number and a very delightful, chipper "Susan" answered. When I requested ext 421, she stated that was Ellie's desk but she wasn't in right now, however she would be happy to assist me - what is my full name, my husband's name and the phone number called?  Instead of giving that info, I replied that I was just calling out of courtesy to let them know that they had misdialed a number, that I don't fill out contest forms.  The chipper Susan's tone had changed abruptly to a completely different pitch as she quite rudely replied, "so why are you calling then?"  I said, "because I wanted to let you know that you had the wrong number?"  She said, "ok..." and nothing else.  She hadn't hung up on me because I could still hear background noise.  I waited for her to ask what phone number was called (a legit business would want to know, to correct their records, right?) and after 5 seconds, when she just breathed on the line, I just hung up.

I guess no one teaches these telemarketers how to handle courtesy return calls that don't want a prize?  Anyway, this is a total scam, this number and a large number of complaints appear on other websites, the calls seem to have started in May, but they continue on into June.  Other complaints state they won either the home make over or a Caddie.

The return call number is different from the one that "Ellie" calls from... that one is 888-323-5162.  But on other sites about this number, it's reversed - Ellie calls from 888-301-0702 and requests that you call back at 888-323-5162.  I'd block both just to be safe.

Received this exact message yesterday, including the same extension of 421.  I always think 'scam' but my husband was considering calling back.  I said I would research it first.  Glad to have found this info online.

I received Ellie's 5oK "home make-over" phone call a few minutes ago.  The first thing I've learned to do when it "looks to good to be true" is to go out to "Google", type in the phone number and see what comes up!  So I am thanking all of you for spending a few minutes to help others (like me) confirm what I was thinking.  I would call my state Attorney General's office next if I did not find any info online.  :)  Thanks again for all of your timely input!

I recieved same message 10 minutes ago, on June 20, 2012 from the same person giving the same details.  I knew it was FAKE because she immediately said in the voicemail that I had won, but never mentioned a name.  The most important part of Verification is getting the correct person by name.  No real organization would be so free to state that someone has won on a voicemail.

Just got the call from "Ellie" at 888-301-0702 and I won the $50k homemakeover also!  Too bad they didn't answer when I called back.  Guess they'll have to find some other sucker to scam.  I'm so glad this message board exists.  Thanks to all who post about calls they get.

Second call from female saying my name was drawn for a $50k home makeover. Call back x421. I did enter a online sweepstake but would expect they would use their company name.

I just got the same call from Ellie asking to return the call to extension 421. I called them back and it was a "Bank of America" asking for my name and account number. I asked for extension 421 and finally they transferred me and the line went dead.

I got the call from that 888 number and they left a message that I too "would be happy to know that my name was pulled last night in a drawing for a $50K kitchen make over".  Good Lord, I just bought this BRAND NEW home.  Why on earth would I want to make over everything that I had just hand picked??!!!  Shaquitha did leave another 888 number with the 421 extention.  I just deleted the call from my answering machine.

Just got the same message from Ellie (888) 301-0702 ext. 421.  I thought I would google the number before calling.  And just as I thought and thanks to all of you, learned it is a SCAM!
