Received a call from Ellie to call back at 1-888-301-0702 x-421
She said my name was drawn the previous night in one of four locations for a $50,000 home make-over. Sure this had scam written all over it.

I just got the same message from Ellie to call back at 1-888-301-0702x 421.  I have won a $50,000.00 home make over.  I called back and a man with a low base style voice answered and repeated all the info. about filling out a form blah blah blah.  Then he verified my name and address.  Well, that is all listed anyway so he already had that by doing a reverse look up on my phone number.  He was all into his little speach till he asked me if I was married, living with a partner or single.  When I answered single he suddenly said well someone will call in the next 4 weeks if your name is picked and hung up the phone.  Well, I called back again and again and really pissed him off. LOL  I have always heard that you and your SPOUSE must attend whatever they are promoting.  Well, I just blew it again!  LMAO  I think I might call back a few times tomorrow as well. HEE HEE HEE!

I got the same call and I went to claim my prize and actually won the 50000 dollar home makeover. I just can't sit here and let people talk bad about this company exspecially if u don't know.  Look on directbuycares.com/winners and you will see proof!

Honestly can't say, because I didn't speak to someone about it, but if they ARE scamming, is it legal to ask them very specific ?'s to make them accountable for what they are saying to us on the phone, & then tell them we have recorded it & that we are working with a scam reporter agency & they are being investigated & will be getting court charges filed against them?? After all, they are being dishonest with us right??  Also, it should be a punished crime for them to call & build up peoples hopes this way, if they are NOT legit, only to crush their dreams. Bottom feeders, taking advantage of everyday people who have really a hard enough time getting making it from paycheck to paycheck as it is. The sad thing is that the telemarketers calling are probably just as poor & took the job because they just "Needed" any work they could get.

I got the same call today, June 28, 2012 stating the same thing as everyone else here. "Melanie calling to tell me that my name was pulled last night and I won a $50,000 home makeover." I called thinking that it was worth a try to contact them, but did not stay on the line after I was put on hold. After seeing what others have wrote here, I agree, this is a scam!!

Ditto, same name, #, ext.  Sounds like this company is giving away lots of home makeovers.  I wonder where they get all the money from because I can't wait for mine :)

Ellie at 888-301-0702 x421 is still at it.  Received exact same message for something I allegedly filled out at a mall, theater, or online...which I generally don't do...and would have no reason to fill out for a $50k home makeover considering we just built a brand new house!

Ellie is still going strong. She radiantly told me that she had some VERY good news for me since my name was "pulled" (out of the big hat like a rabbit?) last night and that I won the $50.000 kitchen make-over. Yeap, I immediately figured that she also had a nice bridge to sell :) Scams like these, of course, prove the old adage: if it is too good to be true it is too good to be true!
Glad I found confirmation that this is indeed a scam from everyone on this forum - thanks for sharing!

    Fight the Scammers!
I too received a call from this number and extention, except they identified themselves as being from America's Vacation Center, which is a legitimate travel agency.  However, I happen to be in the know that they have not gone by the AVC title for the past couple years.  They now call themselves Avoya.

Not surprised a scammer would use a deceptive tactic like this.

Report the caller to the FCC at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
But more importantly, especially, if your on a no call list, report the violation to your states Attorney Generals office.

Per responses I have received from the FCC, the FCC won't do anything to pursue the scammers, but the Attorney Generals office will.  You can also sue the party who calls you and collect $1800.00 per violation.  Once I get an effective method for tracing voip calls, I plan on collecting a nice nest egg.
