Ah!  Thanks, I was wondering how the scam worked.  Lots of people getting calls but wasn't sure what the catch was.

Just received my "Elle" phone call today.  Wow!  This company must think we r all stupid.  Is there anyway to report them and stop this insanity?  I still have the recording on my answering machine if they need proof.

Wow, I got the call that I won the $50K home make-over, too! After reading 20 messages from whom also received the winning call from Ellie, I wonder how many houses she can spread the $50K.

    Ellie needs a make-over.

(Don't answer any calls from the Verification Center or Ellie. She's a scam.)

Ahh, the internet is so useful.

Like the other hundred people who have posted already, I just listened to a voice mail message saying that my name had been drawn in a 50,000 $ home makeover contest.  I don’t recall signing up for that.   Anyways, the call was from “Cindy” and she had veeerrryy good news.  She wanted me to call her back at 888-303-0230 ext.696.   The call itself originated from 1-800-300-5761.   I’m not going to bother with this scammer, since apparently about a hundred people have “won.”(not that they actually say you won, just that your name had been drawn)   It’s nice to have this kind of info to counter scammers.
Thank you to everyone who has posted so far, I appreciate it!   

Thank you all. I just got a call this morning from Cindy who also had veeeery good news. In fact, Cindy sounded recorded! Since my husband is a carpenter, I would never sign up for a home makeover anything, because I've seen what those shows do to people's houses. So I was veeeery suspicious! Glad you all reported this!

Got the same message from Cynthia about 2 weeks ago on August 24, 2012.  Different 800 number though - 888-303-0232. Finally got around to calling back, same deal - no answer, no answering machine etc.

HA!  This is the best way to get back at them!  Andy Rooney once suggested that you do something like this for unwanted mail you get.  If the sender includes a postage paid envelope, remove anything with your name on what they sent you and then send their stuff back to them, postage paid for, by them!  Maybe they will get the message.  Anyway, I like your style!

Got the message from Cindy today. First thing I did was check this site because I don't fill out these type of surveys/contests. Thank you everyone for assuring me it was a scam.

I did try to call - no answer and no voicemail. :)
