These people call repeatedly and hang up when the call is answered. We've been getting several calls per day from ALLIANCE AMEX (according to the caller-id info). We don't know who or what they are, but suspect they're either telemarketers or bill collectors. We would never knowingly deal with a telemarketer, we don't use credit, and we don't have any unpaid bills, so what they expect to accomplish is unknown. It's harrassment, pure and simple. When we find out who is behind this abuse we will be filing a complaint with the appropriate agencies.

They called, we didn't answer, they didn't leave a message.  What a surprise.

Rec'd a call from this number this morning at my place of work, and like the other complaints listed,they hung up.  Caller ID brings it up as Alliance Amex.  I called back, and the call was anwered by a reperesentative for American Exress.  I explained that I had recieved a call from that number with a hang up, and asked if they have a do not call list.  He replied that they do.  I asked if I needed to provide my number, or do they have call display.  He replied, that once the call is over, they have the option to choose to call back, or delete it from the list.  I requested he do just that (remove from list) and hung up.  I hope he wasn't pulling my leg.

called them back on skype and they turned out to be American express.

Got the call at my work and well, they hung up right away.

Annoyance!

They call several times daily.  No one is on the other end and then the phone hangs up.  Sometimes I get a chance to punch in some numbers and then nothing.  One day I got an actual person and I asked for his phone number and he hung up on me!

Didnt answer the number but did call it back and it was American Express. They somehow got my cell phone number.

They call many times a day. This has been going on for months now. As a pub and grill it is very frustrating!

I just  phone the number back but using *67 first. I was on hold for quite awhile then a lady came on. I told her how  we get many calls a day and for months now and no one ever says anything. I asked her to take us off the list. I gave her both of our work numbers and she appologised and said that the numbers are removed now but can take up to 31 days!

Called me on a Skype number. Nice enough guy that was trying to sign me up for an American Express card. Told me all the great advantages of AMEX. I politely declined and then keep calling. Oh well, at least they don't block their ID.

Call numerous times to my place of work, and hang up. I called it back and got no answer. Irritating when you're actually waiting for business related phone calls.

Same thing here in Canada.  Why would we even want American Express...?  These seem to be nearly all hangups anyway!  How absurdly wasteful of EVERYONE'S time, even their own!

It is time to tell your telephone company that there system of blocking tell marketers is not working, and cost you money,(besides pissing you off )that you will chang to another co.

The next time they call and you get dead air try the following:

Hit: "9" on your keypad repeatedly about 25 times.

I tried this after many hangup calls...when I did this someone answered and was somewhat rude, demanding to know what that noise was(tones).  He wanted to know if it was a fax line?  I told him, "no, this is a business".  Then he proceeded to ask for the "Owner"....I told him he's not available, and to remove us from their calling list....they still call weekly.  They obviously don't care about the DNC lists.

Someone should fine these [***] and put them out of business.  I guess its probably too much to ask for our government agencies to actually do thier jobs and stop these people.

same thing here in Calgary, AB.Canada...Just happened this morning at10:57a.m.  I didn't answer... Came up Alliance AMEX..I don't even own an American Express..

I am so sick of these kinds of calls.  I phoned the number and was told to call back during office hours but could press 1 to leave a message.  My message was my phone number and a DEMAND to remove me from their list's.  List's plural so there is not any other list they hold with my number.  I said how ridiculous it was they call my number and hang up and that they are on a google search and do the same to a lot of people. GRRRRRR

I got a call from these guys on my home phone. he said he had a business proposal for my brother's company (which has NO connection at all to my home phone #).

i strongly suspect that the phone number on the caller ID is faked. If a company can make 000-000-0000 show up in my caller ID then they can make anything show up.

I answered the call and was promptly hung up on.
Scammers are always phishing for information.
