    1.   Yes it really is a part of AMEX that is calling.   It is not a scam.

    2.    I am an AMEX card holder for many years so when I called I asked nicely to have my phone number taken off their list.

    3.    It was done immediately.

Just call and ask that you be removed.    Dont get mad just be polite and they will remove you.

Now if we could just get the other hundreds of telemarkets to be so responsible!!!!

Sometimes I wonder how many people who reply "yes..it's really xxx" are actually shills for the telemarketers. I suspect about 90% are shills. And why in the world should anyone be polite to smart a** telemarketers who cold call you?  They are interrupting your life, tough luck if you tell them where to go and what to do.

Amex doesn't really care about DNC - they know the worst that can happen is they might get a fine, which is just another tax deductible business expense.  Really big businesses don't care how many of us they alienate as long as a few sign up.

Regardless of whether the calls do originate from Amex or not, this is still against the DNC rules.
The DNC rules are pretty much a joke anyway, since you can simply move offshore and the feds can't touch you.

We are on both state and federal DNC lists and it never ceases to amaze me how many companies whose names I recognize violate the DNC and pester us over and over.

    Harassed
Got a call from this number. The ID said Long Distance. When I called back I got a recorded message saying it's American Express. These idiots call me at least once a month. As I am on the National Do Not Call List I reported every call to them. And they still keep calling. It seems to me that the DNCL is just a joke to provide a few lazy people a paycheque for doing nothing. LOL

    Annoyed at work, again...
This company was calling all the time back in the summer (2012)  After many hangs ups and me trying to call them back, I finally got a real person on the phone and asked that my number be taken off of their list.  Well guess what?  My number is somehow back on thier list and they are calling AGAIN!!  In a busy medical clinic I don't have time to waste on stupid calls like this.

Like many others here, we are all frustrated. I got a local call followed by an 1-855-614-0686. I called the local number and the call just lags until it fails. My question is if it is Amex should they not be professional enough to stop harrassing people. This marketing tool is clearly not effective, instead rather annoying. Who's ever idea this is should post their phone number so WE could call them several times a day.

The other local number was 416-646-8790

it may not even be real american express credit card company. i get calls from "google" all the time. i called google and they say its not them. these are scam artists that can make any number show up even your own. if you call a real amex line, do they hang up on you? no. they try to be business like. these calls we get hang up on you, so i don't think its really amex. look how many people are pissed off at amex on here. thats bad advertising if it really was amex. its a scam. real credit card companies send applications in the mail. these calls are from circus monkeys in lawless asia.

    hello...hellooo???
i just called back, they said it was amex calling businesses if they want to apply for the card. i said take me off the calling list. i dont qualify anyway. she said they would. sounds genuine, not like the fake google east indian guy. i forgot to tell het the robot hangs up on people. i encurage you to call also. my cellphone block list was full so i had to deal with some numbers. i get many scammers calling weekly and am frustrated just like people on here. felt good to talk to a normal business who will really take me off the list.

You'll find this to be illegal just about anywhere.  Forcing someone to use their resources (e.g. toner, paper) is the same reason why it's still illegal in some places for telemarketers to call cell phones.  Sounds like "zadfrack.com" is looking for trouble.

After about 4 years since the last "new" entry here, I just got a call from this number.  When calls like this come in, I throw the number into Google before I answer. As results (this page first) came up, they gave up on the 3rd/4th ring.

They're now hanging up even faster.  They're blocked now on my phone but I get a popup on my PC when they try.  They're waiting no more than 2-3 seconds before hanging up.  Dumbest auto-dialer ever.

I get that call many times and they always hang up. When I try to call back they usually hang up on me as soon as I ask them to remove our business number off their list... and they call back again.

Our business put our numbers on the do not call list as soon as it was put in place here in Canada, and most businesses don't seem to pay attention to that.

There is too much spam calls and scam calls. Maybe the government should stop spending so much money on unnecessary things and concentrate some of it on arresting scammers and such.

Alliance Amex, like everyone else is reporting. At least they're consistent. Telemarketers, for sure. We actually just moved from Amex to MasterCard, so there was no point in her pursuing.
