Got a call from this number. Also a man with a thick accent, asked for me by a name I haven't used in over 15 years. Tried to verify my info via my birthdate after I told him I would not answer any more questions unless he stated nature of business. He kept trying to get my info and I told him he had one more chance to tell me why he was calling or i'd hang up, he went on, I hung up. Frighteningly he called my CELL one that has NEVER been connected to the name he used as I've only had that phone for a few years.

They called me and asked to speak to someone that doesn't even exist. This people need to stop calling and wasting my time.

Calls several times a day. At first I just ignored it, but now I lay the phone in front of the television speaker and hit the talk button. Hey, someone's paying for the call and it isn't me.

The company is called Allied Interstate. They call, me and my wife several times a day. Neither of us owe a dime and monitor our credit actively. I suspect its a very old debt that has passed the statute of limitations. That's a new practice for a lot of these companies. They'll even chase after widows for 20 year old debts.

Just do what I did. Tell them it's not your debt. Tell them they're not allowed to contact you on this phone number anymore. If you can, record the phone call and make sure you say or they say the company name and date on the call and reference the debt. Then take said recording (or not if you don't have it) and file charges with your state's attorney general's office.

I have been getting calls several times a day from this number on my CELL PHONE! They never leave a message or if I answer it no one says anything.  This morning they called at 8:30 am and it was a recorded message saying they were a debt collector and provided another number to contact them. I just hung up.  This is ridiculous!!!

I also have been receiving daily and two to three times a day calls, never leave a message and I tried to call and no one answers got put on hold. I sent a text not to call, if it is over seas can i still file a complaint under consumer protect? I know these callers are not suppose to do this!

Pre-recorded female voice saying, rather vaguely, she was calling from a collection agency trying to collect a debt. Wanted me to call back and specify a certain "reference number." The interesting part was that all numeric information was "inserted" by a different, more robotic-sounding speaker.

got a call for someone who hasn't lived here since june 2000

These [***] called at 10:38pm last night.

I received a call from someone with an East Indian or Pakistani accent asking for my daughter, who hasn't live with me in years and is married. I have received recorder messages, as well, saying that the are doing a survey and will call back.
I have also been receiving calls on my cell from out of state callers who never talk when I answer.

We keep getting calls and they leave a msg with a reference number.  I do not answer as it looks like a scam. I also noted that numerous other people are getting this call.  We are on the do not call list but it appears this does not help.  What a waste of time.

Have been getting several phone calls daily from this number. Whenever I've answered I've gotten the same pre-recorded message.  A female voice requesting that I call a number to provide information on someone's debt (no name was given). I was also given a "reference number." and the numeric information was "inserted" by another voice, also. It occurs to me that this may be the type of scam where they expect their victim to call the numbers provided, then put them on hold and charge them an outrageous long distance phone call amount. DON'T CALL BACK!

They call every day, at least 6 times a day. Never any message

I have just spent a half hour just calling the 888 number back & muting the phone. I also used *67 before I called too so that it would block my number from any caller ID. if they can harass me at 11:45 PM! I can call & harass them!!!

Everyone should do this!!! Just keep calling them back!

These calls just started this month... I have received a total of 41 calls to date... on one day alone there were 10 of them.  I have only picked up once and there was no one there.  I've had maybe two or three voicemails but they are recordings that are timed incorrectly for voicemail so I only get bits on pieces.  Whatever it is, I'm not buying... I just want the constant phone calls to stop.

I answered a call from this number today, it was a recording saying it was a collection call for some woman I didint even know. (Maybe she had the number before me?) I just hung up on it

Unfortunately from what I've read, *67 does not block you when calling a 800 number.
