They called again today at 11:23 am, and their call was again blocked by our call blocker. The caller ID was still UNAVAILABLE. Please see my posts of 26 Jan 2016.

They have been calling my house several times a week with the caller id showing unknown or unavailable. If they sre a legitimate charity they should show who they are. Otherwise they get blocked or unanswered.

not everyone is out to get you replies to George (continued)
Here are some tips to stop calls, the best is to have your number out of any phone book, most companies buy their list from somewhere you have it listed, just taking it out wont work, change your number because if it was ever on a list it always will be.  Dont hang up or dont answer most dailers will call atleast a bunch of times.  Answer, and Wait, most dailers take a few minutes to register there is someone there.  Ask any unwanted callers nicely to be removed, remember these are humans calling you, not monsters. Don't mean or rude, maybe you they will think you were in a bad mood or missed you meds, and that you deserve another call for being mean.
I don't think you stop creditors other than paying your dept.

You will never stop telemarketing it will always be profitable. It just takes 1 out of hundred to bite, as that one dosent mind or likes the call, maybe the're lonely or board, a wanted product or great sales pitch. It wont matter how many times ya'll complain online or post something is a scam are even if its legit, Some calls are legit.

I wish you all a ring free phone if, thats what you want.

OK- I have been posting this about all these calls. If you do the following, you can reduce these calls considerably, and eventually they'll consider your number to be inactive.

First and foremost NEVER-EVER answer the call if you don't recognize the number. When you answer it just verifies your number is active and it will be sold to others who will also call.

Secondly DO NOT EVER fall for their ploy of being added to their “do not call list” because- once again- it only verifies your number is active and it will be sold, thereby increasing the calls.

This is what I did and it is VERY effective:

    1) Check to see if your phone service offers “Selective Call Forwarding”. On my phone you dial *63. This service allows you to forward calls that you designate to any other number anywhere.

    2) Compile a list of the annoying numbers and designate any one of the annoying numbers as the number to forward the calls to.

    3) If you do this correctly, the moron calls will then be automatically forwarded to another moron. Your phone won't even ring! You can even forward them to a company that's out of business or even your worst enemy.

As time goes on, you may have to review the numbers and add or delete new numbers. I did this for about 6 months and have reduced my moron calls from several a day to one or two a week. Eventually they will think your number is inactive and will drop you from their lists. The good news? NO ONE can get around this like they can with the government’s impotent “do not call list”. If this works for you, please feel free to pass it along and together we can all keep the morons guessing.

    Enjoy!!

id as Epilepsy Foundation?   No message so its hard to tell.  It seems to me that this group was calling
around for donations in 2012 & 2013.  Since none of these groups can be trusted I have not donated in
years.  Give them any money and you will get several hundred calls for just about every cause in the world.
    Deleted!

Telemaggoters get phone numbers from a variety of sources. In my state the DMV reserves the right sell information on those that are registered. Then there are organizations and frequent buyers clubs that people join. There are also those who share too much information on social media websites.

Good idea.   It's probably why so many of these calls are coming in from local towns, etc.  I returned one
of these calls, it was only 2-miles away, but the phone had been disconnected.  Last time I'll do that!

Caller ID says "UNAVAILABLE".  They leave no message.

I call back after hours.  Their message identifies them as the "Epilepsy Foundation Donation Center".  There is an option to leave a message.  Their mail box is not full.

I have talked to them in the past and they generally seem to want to send a truck by to collect any stuff I want to give away.

I am disappointed that they spoof their caller ID.
