Epilepsy again. Have called me over a dozen times. Sent email but they are too rude to respond. Just keep calling. Jerks. Tell people NOT to donate. Plenty of good decent charities out there.

On going pain, for the last couple of weeks they call once or twice every day.  Finally called them and asked them to remove my number, which they said they would...and the calls continue

The Epilepsy Foundation best never ask for a donation from me every again.  I'll warn everyone I can to never donate to them either, unless they want LOTS of phone calls asking for more donations...

The most recent time that I have received this robo-call is 12 July 2012 at 11 AM.
617-926-xxxx is my phone; it is on the do-not-call list.
888-322-8209 is the annoyance number.  When I receive unknown calls, I take note of the number and check a database like this one.

I hope that reports will eventually cause these calls to diminish.

Said epilepsy and that there would be a donation truck in my neighborhood. When I asked them to take me off their call list, the woman was lovely and said she would give my number to her manager.

I just received a call, but didn't answer; no message was left. Upon returning the call a recording said that this was, "The Epilepsy Foundation of North America", and transferred me to a live person. I requested that my name and number be removed, so we'll see how that goes.

HOWEVER.. I also checked these people on Charity Navigator and... assuming that this is the correct organization... they're not only legitimate, but effective.

    http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3673

That being said, I would just ask any charity reading this to consider a better approach. In a world of spam, caller-ID, and more... this is just not acceptable.

This is the Epilepsy Foundation. Have repeatedly requested to be removed from calling list. They caught me yesterday and I politely requested to be removed. The woman said she would consult with her supervisor. These people are relentless and I tell everyone I know not to donate or they, too, will end up on there never ending call list. They call every week or so.

This is from the Epilepsy Foundation. They are indeed a real thing and I have donated many times before. I have epilepsy and I know it is for a good cause. They do call sometimes but I haven't had trouble like everyone keeps saying. They call about every 2 or 3 months at 5:00ish and are very reasonable. It's a great cause so I really hope the comments on here about never donating to them dont deter you from donating. The epilepsy foundation takes used clothes (much like the Saint Vincent DePaul charity) so I go through my closet and give them my slightly worn clothes and then I can buy new clothes for myself. It's a really great charity for a really great cause :)

Gotta say I got SO tired of these calls from 800's and 888's.   My cell carrier has a blocked caller list BUT you have to get a call first in order to add the number to be blocked from that point on.
BUT I found an app on my android called "Call Control" where you not only can block certain phone numbers, but you can block entire area codes!!   I've blocked 888, 855 and 866 numbers (because I was getting so many nonsense calls from them) and this thing works like a charm.   It also sends me notifications that it just block this number or that number (just in case it mistakenly blocked a number of someone you wanted to talk to).  LOVE it!!

Folks, legitimate non-profit organisations such as the Epilepsy Foundation are *exempt* from the Do Not Call list, if they are conducting a phone campaign to get donations.  This is true even if they use a third-party caller.  That said, they are also required to remove you from their list if you ask them to.

For more info read #28-32 on this page from the FTC:

Foreign sounding guy said he was Epilepsy but was calling from 'unknown'    This makes 10 calls now from these people.  I swore at the guy for calling on a Sunday.

back in the middle of May when I had gotten 6 calls I called the Epilepsy foundation and complained.  First that they hung up on me when I complained, then I called back and left a serious complaint.  Got a call back from Les, an exec at the foundation.  I was promised my number would be taken out of their dialers.  At that time I was only up to 6 calls.

But you can see how they honor the request.  At this time, I don't care how 'honorable' they are, that are scamming slime.  They call on Sundays, they call from hidden CallerID, and they call REPEATEDLY after they promise they won't call again.

To be fair, it's probably a contract solicitor calling for the non-profit foundation, but TOUGH [***]!!!!  They have to be held accountable for the actions of their agents.

Call 617-207-4300 and ask to go up the channel to Les and see what promises he can make to you about not calling again.

First off, I do give money to charitys but I'll be damned if I'll give to an unsolicited call with 'Unknown name' on the CallerID.  I called the 888 number back but just got music on hold.

I called 617-207-4300, and discovered the 888 number is their line to call for donation pickup.  I punched in exension 109 for Les Brody (the pres/ceo whatever), but the voice mail said Lauren.  I told them I complained to the FTC and was really POed.  Especially since I was told back after their 6th call that I would be taken off their call list.  I'm now up to 11 calls that I've counted, and I just started tracking this earlier this year!

EVERYONE needs to call 617-207-4300 and ask for LES BRODY and let him know how fed up you are with the solicitors continued calling!
