I just got a call at our business just like Shel's. The name was wrong and when I held and told them our phone number they gave me a name for someone who does work here. The agent offered to remove our number when I told her the guy works out on the assembly floor and is gone for the day.

Was put on hold to get access to a representative. Insanely rude, told them they had the wrong number & wanted it removed from their database. The Rep. just hung up before I even finished talking. Most likely a collection agency.

Please people read up on fdcpa instead of assuming you know what is legal.
Collection agencies can call you everyday until you speak to them as many times as they want. So their automatic dialers do it repeatedly. NOW as for Credit-control.com their dialer system works efficiently however there have been phone problems for years so when you try to call back the lines may be tied up. I understand this frustrates you. But being a jerk does not fix the problem.
PAY YOUR BILLS or make contact and make a payment arrangements (side bar $10 a month on a 10,000 bill will get you laughed at) We know times are hard but we know that most of you stopped paying your bills years ago so the economy is not a viable excuse. Your flat screens and new cell phones work just fine dont they
the problem is consumers believe they can charge up their cards/go to the hospital/ take out loans and when times get hard companies should be more understanding. We arent understanding because your priorities are screwed up. WE arent understanding because you get the benefits from our clients (ie medical attention, a college education, all kinds of crap on lines of credit) then don't even make an attempt to repay them. We cant repo you bachelors degree or the playstation 3 you bought with you credit card and you know it. All though now more and more hospitals are turning people away if they owe bills (as long as its not life threatening emergency at the time its legal) and the US department of education already notates doctors and lawyers who lost licenses because of default. Thats gonna start happening to people w/ MBAs and teaching certs. PLUS EVERY EMPLOYER NOW OTHER THAN FAST FOOD PULLS YOUR CBRS (CREDIT REPORTS)

    stop being morons

Seems funny you should reply to all the comments on this site as well as I. But none the less you obviously didn't attend a college or for that matter finish high school considering your grammar! But in the light of your situation the company in which you are questioning is no more then a collection agency as many others but with a wild twist! This company searches the dregs of society to hopefully pull honest hard working individuals into paying usually for things they didn't own responsibility for or in many events didn't create. It's truly a shame that such
companies are allowed to operate in the U.S. borders.  Hopefully one day these people will get their just deserts when it bites them in the bum on their own short comings or for that matter something that they too didn't create. I suggest that you follow up on every bill that you have had in the past 10 years and make sure that it has been paid for or dismissed if there was a judgment or garnishment. These so called collection agencies have and will create a mountain out of a mole hill and trust me when I say they will agitate you until you finally change your phone number or go unlisted.

I recently recieved a call from this number (1-888-365-7129) while at work, so I could not answer it.  They left no message.

Is this collection agency for real?  I know have outstanding debt from student loans, but as far as I know they're under control.

Is there any hint that this may be a scam?  If this "company" is so vague on the phone, who would want to give them personal info?

    Thanks so much!

If you seriously want the calls to stop, then send them a C & D Letter like one of the previois posters says; as far as which address to send it to.......look up their business name on bbb.org and send it to the address which is designated a Head Quarters or Corporate Office (because then they will be responsible for forwarding to ALL the office under them).

If their isn't one designated as such, then send it to the 1 or 2 closest to your own address!

Of couse, if you receive a clloection letter from them , then send it to the address on the letter.

Credit Control hires idiots; I called the 888-365-7129, and told the lady that I wanted to clear my debt and that I needed an address to send the payments to............she gave me her address in Hazlewood, Mo:

    Credit Control
    PO BOX 248
    Hazlewood, MO
    63043

Then she proceeded to provide me with the account # (like I really cared...LOL), and with name of the Origianl Creditor, AND the total amount that I allegedly owed them!

Needless to say, I called the OC and worked out payment arrangements with them, because I am NOT paying any Collection Agency!...............LOL

They have to be vague on the phone because FDCPA and HIPPA laws don't allow them to give out any information over the phone until they have verified they have the right person.

Well, thats probably because once its in collections you're supposed to pay the collection agency. If you would have paid your bill to the client to start with you wouldn't have to worry about it!!

Ahh, then you have student loan debt.

You know, not everyone that posts here owes money. Some of us get called because of previous owners of a phone, or in my case, a company bugging the hell out of me about neighbor that moved out that owed money. Take a hint and quit being a jerk!

FYI: Most collection agencies work on commission...........AND THEY CAN NOT STOP YOU FROM PAYING THE OC!

In plain english...........There is NO law that states that you MUST pay a CA, AND 'Like ir or NOT,".......some people just get their OC accounts turned over to CA's just because/when they get hurt/hopitalized and are TEMPORARILY unable to work!

What can I say..they called my office was very very rude to my secretary and whyen I callback I got some lady on the phone Casey was her name at extension 2141 and she started the conversation with not identifying who they where, and when I asked I was told to shut up she needed information.  She threatened me with calling my HR department and then again was extremley rude.  My husband and I are victims of identity theft and we do not give out information over the phone to people we do not know.  These people apparently do not know what professional is all about.  I think they must hire and Tom, Dick or Jane that will work there for minimal wage and be as nasty as can be.  They need to be stopped.  Apparently they are making alot of folks made as seenh in previous emails.  Maybe the BBB can do something about it.  Next move I plan on contacting an attorney and making this person or persons lives miserable.
Was not sure who they where until I read some of the others emails and sen the name.

For almost 2 years, I continue to get calls from this number for someone named Rosa.  I have repeatedly told them they have the wrong f#$%n number and they continue to harass us.  Just now I got another call and the woman is telling me to be quiet after I am trying to tell her it's the wrong number for almost 2 f'n years now.  Look idiots, there is a site 411.com, plug in the f'n number and see who the f'n phone is registered to.  I don't see why I have to put up with harassment when the f'n calls are not even for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep getting the from 1-888-365-7129 and 1-866-383-8956.  It's mainly the first one.  I never answer it because I don't know the numbers.  They usually call why I'm in class, sleeping, or at work which means my phone is on silent.  It's really annoying.
