- Bewildered??| 1 replyI have just read through 5 pages of posts and find this crazy. I have lived at 8 addresses in 3 states in the last 15 years. So I have moved around a lot but as far as I know I have no debt to be collected? I checked my credit report and all is well. So why are they calling? They call 3-5 times a day and don't leave a message. I did pick the call up today and was put on hold for a few minutes with a recording? I then hung up. It sounds like they are very vague on the phone from all the posts. So if my credit report is in check and I see no debt that is unsettled, what is this?? I don't know of any existing outstanding debt, and I would be very leary to answer personal questions to a vague stranger or company about finances? Is there anyway you can search on your own to find out if you owe some random debt somewhere you don't know about- doctor, parking tickets, library?????????????? If I do owe something legite, I would pay it, but this company and system sounds terrible.

- treddy| 2 repliesI have a relative who is a felon and when he got paroled, he could not get a job anywhere. Not even Burger King. The only place that would hire him was CCI, because they don't even do background checks on employees and will hire anyone willing to work for peanuts and can't find a job elsewhere. So, keep in mind, when you read posts from those supporting this borderline 'collection agency'; the employee/poster is at the bottom rung of society's ladder. I read on here that one claimed he had two degrees. Clearly, if he had any academic or professional qualifications, he wouldn't be working side by side with convicted felons who can't get employed anywhere else.
I have also seen several references to CCI's website, insinuating that because they have a website, they are a legit business. Laughable!
Additionally, the employees of CCI that keep posting on here that they can take you to court or garnish wages are GROSSLY misinformed and simply attempting to use scare tactics. If the judgment has been made in behalf of another party, CCI (regardless of whether they purchased the debt or are acting as an agent of the party in receipt of judgment) can NOT garnish wages. Only the party that received the judgment can do so. CCI can not further seek judgment (as it has already been passed) and they can NOT act as the orginal party or on behalf of the original party. All they can do is seek to collect the debt as the non-originating filer. Which, means you can tell them to go to hell. - bjccontinuous calls from this number
- Denny replies to Captain Natalie| 3 repliesFoe numbers that you wish not to be bothered with...You can set your ringtone on your phone to a single beep and assign it to any number that you do not want to be annoyed with. This way it will beep just once and not continuously ring. This way when you hear a single beep, you can ignore to answer it. Of course they may use several numbers that you will have to answer and then set it to a single beep also. Store those numbers in your phones phone book.
- anonymous replies to JUST ME| 1 replyActually they can garnish your wages and take you to court.
- anonymous replies to treddyThis company that is calling you is not CCI anymore. It is called Credit Control LLC. and they do background checks on all of their employees I know someone that works there who is a college student and start out at $14.00 an hour which is more than Burger King I'm sure. Yes, they can garnish your wages and take you to court, and they often do! Not all of the debt is old debt that they buy from other companies! Get your info straight there bud.
- anonymous replies to Bewildered??Call them back it might not be your debt, it could be someone that used to have your phone number.
- anonymous replies to babsCall them back and tell them that they have to remove your number if the debt is not yours
- anonymous replies to BridgetCall them and see if they will do a settlement with you. Most likely if it is a really old debt you can pay a pretty small percentage.
- anonymous replies to NiraIf its your debt they already have all your personal info. Your DOB, your SSN, your credit report, etc
- Irritated with morons replies to Dear Mr. Collector| 2 repliesYou're right I do have student loans and they along with my car loan, my house loan, my cell phone bill and my two credit card get paid every month because unlike half of the morons that are listed with collection agencies I don't steal from people who provide services for me. Get a clue and stop being a dumb ass!
- Star replies to treddyClearly that person has more sense than you because they pay their bills. Did you ever think that the reason they work for a collection agency is to pay for their schooling? Hmm theres an idea pay your bill moron
- billA computerized voice called for my daughter.
I pressed '1' as directed
I was told all operators were busy and then got a awful busy tone.
I trined calling a dozen times with the same results.
I found out 888 356 7129 is a QUEST number sold to
Arizona Tela Broker a subsidiary of Diversifies Telecommunications.
Arizona Tela Broker said they owned the number and a collection agency used it.
The represenative said they had to check before they could give me a direct working number to call.
FYI Arizona Tela Broker and Diversifies Telecommunications numbers are 800 277 1580 & 480.941.0444
Lets all call and ask for the name of the collection agency...- Call type: Debt collector
- Michelle replies to Irritated with morons| 1 replyThese people are legitamately getting harrassed. We received a call today for our son who is 2 years old. I would advise you to learn a thing or two before you go being a jerk to people with concerns about their own credit and well-being!
- Alfalfa replies to MichelleUnder the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.
Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.
This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc. NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls. In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc. Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.
David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors. Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call. Judge Davis wrote;
[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.
Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.
So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?
1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.
http://consumerlawyer.typepad.com/blog/2008/02/the-do-not-call.html - hlWould not leave any info except to have someone call her back that does not live here. I asked her not to call. All I got was her name was Cindy and recall# was 877-395-3540. I asked her how she got this # and address she advised that was the # givin out. (from who?)
I'm not sure what they are looking at. I have lived here 5 years with the same phone #.
Sounds kinda scammy to me. I would not give out info but I kept asking questions till she got mad at me- Caller: unknown
- what the hell| 1 replyi wasnt at home and today was the first day they called me, but i only have one bill right now and i paid it on time. i tried calling back when i got the message and it just went to a busy signal and then hung up. im really worried now. this is for sure a legit agency?
- psThis # has called here 3 times today and hangs up when I answer. I just had a heart attack and trying to rest. It takes me sometime to get to the phone, and it hurts too.
I called this # and a lady answer but would not tell me who she represents. She transferred me to another person that said she didin't call me, I understand and said someone from this # calls and hangs up.
She again said she did not call me. And was a smart ass. I got mad and asked why am I talking to her if she is not at this number and if she doesn't make calls then get me to someone that has some authority. She then said she did not call again. (sound like teenagers)I think I was talking to a recording. I don't know what they want other than to keep getting me out of bed. Is there such a thing as a professional stupid telephone caller? All they have is my # they didn't have a name. Why call.
When I feel better I'd like to have their personal # so I could do the same to them. I'm going to pull the plug on the phone for today.- Caller: unknown
- ps replies to what the hellI'm not sure if they are legit either. They won't give me any info when I called them back, except they said they did not call. they must be Stupid their # is on the caller ID.
- BeckyWhen I call this # back a person named Linda answers no company name.
