I just got a call from this number talking about dna and it used my actual name don’t know how they got my number considering it’s prepaid and don’t get how they got my first and last name along with my middle initial definitely a scam cause I never did anything anywhere having to do with dna

Someone called from 905-587-8889 – an Ontario number – and was looking for a  person – the name was one we knew. Unfortunately my mother had picked up the phone and confirmed the name of the person but refused to give her phone number when asked.   They requested that the person they were calling about phone "Jamie" – D&A group services collections at 888-395-1147 extension 6244 reference number 12759131.
What the people at this number are doing is trying to sound "legit" in order to glean information from different numbers and while randomly picking names to match to eventually  get as much information together about a person as possible to scam someone. Do not confirm or deny  when asked about a name when you get one of these calls. Eventually they get enough information about a person just by doing this and will try to scam that person.

they phone all the time with a recording saying they`re not a telemarketing cie and they must speak to me press 1 if i`m on the line

Very similar to above notes. Voice mail message about a serious matter to do with TD Bank . . . we have never had an account with TD Bank.

This guy called me from this number, left voice message indicating some file number. Very incoherent. Looked up the number, apparently they are debt collectors. I do not have any debt. Very suspicious. Came up on my as a call from "Unknown". Do Not answer. Obviously a scam. Did not even specify the person they wanted to talk to. I say these people need to get a real job or be arrested.

Unfortunately for you, they’re not a scam. If you know the person they’re asking for, either YOUR number was left by the person they’re looking for as a possible contact number... OR ... you have a similar name as who they’re looking for. A lot of times this happens where someone will have the same last name as who they’re looking for, the tracing system will pull up their number as possible contact / relative. So I’d get your facts straight before you come on here saying lies. Oh and also, they’re stationed in Ontario but provide a toll free 1-888 just in case someone doesn’t have Canada-wide calling.

I'd say practice what you preach, since you don't seem to know how phishing works. What "Layla" described is exactly that and debt collectors go on "phishing expeditions", just like scammers do. Calling people that have nothing to do with someone else's debts (if they are even real) repetitively, is no better than the scammers who call phishing for personal info on their victims.

I get a call from these guys every now and again . They ask me how I am and if I don’t answer they become extremely rude . Don’t tell them your name . Ask who they are and when they say D&A corporation . Tell them wrong number and hang up . I think this company may be fraudulent .

Received call from Ontario number 905-507-8889.  Left a voice mail asking to call them back at 888-395-1147 stating that I had debt with TD Canada Trust.  Week later I actually answered the call and after I wouldn't give them my birthdate they gave me a different 888 number telling me it was for TD Canada Trust.  Neither 888 number shows up in searches.  I have NEVER had any dealings with TD Canada Trust.

I just want to share a bit of info not many people are familiar with in regards to collection agencies, if your debt is no longer with the original company you had a contract with a collection agency has purchased your debt making your contract No longer valid. I’m order to have it removed from your credit report request a copy and dispute any collection agency with the reason as contract was cancelled and write no contract. I’ve spent many years in collections and this 100% true and works to remove any debts that have been sold. Save yourself time and money dispute every debt that is with a 3rd party collection agency. They purchased your debt from the company and the company wrote it off after it was purchased. There is no longer a contract between you and that company making your debt to them nonexistent and canceling your contract

Called twice in two days not saying what they wanted - knew that didn't owe any money - said they were calling on behalf of TD Bank. Left a reference number and an extension. Believe this is a scam as when the number is called it goes to a 905 phone number!?

got a call from this number twice this week, they left an extension and a file number for reference. told them the person they are asking for does not live here and ask they not call me again. she asked me to confirm the number I am calling from as they have a list of phone numbers associated with the file. I think it's some sort of scam. I did not give them my phone number as I said you are the one that called me so you obviously have it and if you have a list of numbers then you are scamming. she hung up.
