- MJ replies to Shelley GThis company has called my home almost weekly regarding the estate of my ex-mother-in-law. We divorced in 1990.
- Becky replies to BillJust got a call from these people today. Unfortunately this is how I found out that my father passed away. I told them that I have not talked to my father for over a year because of his wife ( the evil stepmother). I politely gave them her name and number and that she would be more than happy to pay all his debts. At least they notified me that my father died.
- Eliza. M.Several family members have received unfair calls from this unethical company. Ms. J.Cortez & Ms. C. Springer misrepresented their intentions. These people take advantage of grieving families and dangle a carrot to try and collect money. Shame, Shame, Shame. I will file a complaint with the FTC.

- Linda replies to Texas AttorneyToday I received a letter from this company. It was a little upsetting because it was addressed to 'the estate of xxxxx x xxxxx.' (my name). Last time I checked, I am not dead! Of course, it is a very common name, so there could be another person with the same name that actually died. I knew from the moment I opened it that it wasn't legitimate so I do not plan to contact them. Thanks for the good details you provide here. Keep up the good work!

- Hope A. and Mistii MWe recently received a calll from mike higgins at acension point on Sept 22nd 2011. They left a voice message on Hope's phone, she then called Mistii and together we looked this bogus company up on the internet. You know this is tacky-we have dealt with the death of a loved one-now mike higgins from acension point is trying to get money from us.
Really these people should be held responsible for trying to scam poor folks in their time of grief. I certainley there is some type of judgement that can be brought them.- Caller: AcensionPoint

- ScottReceived two calls from Ascension Point regarding the deceased mother of my wife's ex-husband (25 years ago). They must be digging really deeply. An attorney we use also handles suits against collection companies here in Florida with an excellent success rate. If anything they do or say is out of line, I'll ask her to look into it. The problem my be who has the right to sue, and who is legally harmed in a case like this. Ascension Point may have found the perfect approach here. Very probable that they are a legitimate company just with a creepy way of doing things (Ascension Point?, and a hokey English accent on their recording.) Reminds me of the Bible salesmen of years past who would show up at the home of a deceased person in rural America with an elaborate, personalized $10 Bible and say the deceased person had ordered it for the surviving spouse - at an outrageous price of $150 or so.
Then again, I met a man who buys gold from crematories. Seems it melts out of dental work and falls through the screen when someone is cremated, so is not included in the urn. Family members feel akward asking about this even if they are aware of it. Sometimes hundreds of dollars are made by the funeral home selling "scrap" metals. It's a quiet business...- Caller: Ascension Point

- ScottThe fact that they are calling relatives here in a state that publishes probate notices in the paper suggests they are playing to the emotional state of bereaved people to collect money. Otherwise, they would just contact the attorney handling the probate of the estate.
It might be worth calling your local newspaper and suggesting that the do a story on this company and practice - giving advanced warning to the people in your community so they know how to respond.

- VERY RELIABLE PERSON| 1 replyI can guarantee you this is not a scam, I received a call from them about my mothers account and it was a legitimate account and I paid it a lot of these credit card companies once someone passes away will send to this company and many others to get these debts paid off if you don't pay then that is fine because the estate is responsible not you, however if you guys would check the better business bureau and not this website you would be able to see that this is a legitimate company
PAY YOUR BILLS - BeckWe have been receiving phone calls now for the last few weeks from this number. It was until just today that I saw the number and decided to research it. I phoned them back to get the company name and sure enough it was Ascension Point. I ask them what it was in reference to and they told me my deceased sister in law who passed away almost a year ago.
They were requesting information about who was handling the estate of my sister in law, in which I did NOT give them any information and asked them to not call again.
Seems as though they are after one thing and that is money. They have called numerous times and it really sounded off. Even after hanging up with them, they still called.
This is just to let folks know what my situation was. Ascension Point: 1-888-420-2510 is NOT cool!
I sure hope that something can be done about this and they get whats coming to them.
Thanks- Caller: 1-888-420-2510

- Shrinkfitleft a message on my home number requesting I call back to discuss the estate of someone I never heard of, though they had the same last name.
Called back, and they said they were sorry and would take my number out of their files. I'll followup if they continue. - B. SchoberCalled to speak with a person of authority to discuss the affairs of my husbands ex-brother-in-law (or his father, whichever applies since they both have the same name). - I do not want their callsReceived messages today in regards to "an account we just received regarding (deceased mother)." My stomach dropped as I thought we might be owing a debt or something.
I got off the phone and googled the phone number. THANK YOU for this site -- for this information that you have posted!
Feeling much better about it.
These people should be prosecuted. Death in the family is difficult enough without this crap.- Caller: (888) 420-2510
- appaloosaOn my business telephone line, there was a message from Ascension Point in regards to an ex-husband whom I have not seen or heard from for 20 years! I am darn glad that I googled and found this page loaded w/ comments. Of course I would never return the call ( the SOB left me in debt and ruined my credit), but sure like to know how someone 48 yrs old died. I googled his full name and no obituary came up, so the at the moment, the curiosity is killing me. I'll get over it though---glad to know he's dead.
- John's Brother replies to ascension pointHey scumbag(s). John paid everything he owed on earth the second he closed his eyes in death.
I know God has treated him better than He will treat the likes of you. - S. HarveyI have been getting calls from this company saying that they want to speak to someone about the estate of a deceased relative. It turns out this is a collection agency and there are a lot of complaints about them on the internet. Is there any way to get this to stop? This is the last thing people need when a relative dies!

- Sick & TiredI get calls from this number all the time. Asking me about a person that they say is deseased.
I do not have anything I can tell them about this person.
But I think it is very mean to call people on the phone and break this kind of news. Even if they have the wrong person.
I have decided to not answer their calls. But that doesn't stop them from calling. I wish they could be stopped from making their annoying calls.- Caller: I don't know
