They call frequently re: "estate" matters of the recently deceased grandmom to my stepkids, whom I haven't had anything to do with in months. I know they are scammers, but wish they would stop calling. I do not want to have to call them to ask them to stop, so I sent them an email & told them to stop or I would report them to the FTC.

Called our landline... heard Musak, the "please hold." I hung up. Was unable to block this number. Second time this number has called in a week.

i got multi calls from a different number for at least 3 months, and no message was ever left. Finally a get a voicemail after 3 months wanting to talk to the person in charge of my mother's estate who died nearly a year ago. Never identified who they were. Googled the number they have been calling me from and nothing showed up. Then I googled the number that they wanted me to call them back with (totally different number) and all my suspicions are validated.  Everything screams shady

I just received a call from Ascension Point regarding my recently deceased mother.  I'm not financially responsible for her estate, nobody should be calling me about it (unless maybe I was an emergency contact in case they couldn't reach my dad, but I doubt that).  The lady who called left me a voice mail, she had a very heavy foreign accent, I couldn't even make out her name, but her message sounded very fishy.  I'm glad I checked here before I called her back.  I forwarded her info to my dad, he can forward it to his attorney.

    Scam Alert
They stated they scoured "public records" to find next of kin to settle outstanding debts. Estate was long since settled and they claimed to have just gotten a bill to collect on. However they could not provide me with any details without me first providing some details. Total spam/fraud.

Phone call late this afternoon asking if I knew Dylan Fields and he was calling about his estate and if I could pass his name to the family and phone #.  I said I would try.  I asked what it was about and he said he couldn't tell me.  After he hung up I turned the info to my daughter who is the mother-in-law of the deceased.

Grave robbers.  Don't let them know where the deceased is buried as they will go there to steal the gold out of his teeth.

Warn your daughter. This outfit has a horrible rep here on this and other sites. There are specific laws that cover debts of deceased persons and their survivors.

Ascension Point profits by pressuring and confusing the people they call, and have no concerns about their rights.  In any case, I can't see any benefit to calling them back, if they have something to say, they can write a letter. You are not required to do their job for them.

PS - See Post above from BigA - He gets it short, sweet and 100% right.

It’s not about growing up, I’m not responsible for my mothers debts. PERIOD.
