- Ben CraneyI have received numerous calls "regarding the affairs of Ruth Colbertson" and despite my calling to let your company know they have the wrong number the calls keep coming in.
Please cease with the calls. - JeffI rec'd a call from Ascension Point 888/806-9073 x4299 telling me to call them back for the final affairs of the deceased - my sisters name WHO happens to have a very very common name. My heart dropped and I was on the phone with several family members before I was able to reach my sister and make sure she was alive!
My father who is 82 years was involved in this and was highly emotional during this time and DOES NOT need this STRESS! ( he has a heart condition ).
I proceeded to go online to track down " Ascension Point " and found they have been doing this quite often to retrieve debts!
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THIS COMPANY! What if they contacted an elderly mother who is in ill health? Or a teenager / young adult who's parent works and hasnt come home yet????- Caller: Ascension Point

- credickI received a call from this company wanting to speak to a person responsible for my ex-husband's estate. They would not give me any information as I told them we divorced in 1981. I told them he left no estate. What is the deal with these people? I've seen from posts dating back 2 years that they have been trying to scam people all along. Why are they still in business? Who do you report them to? I asked where they obtained my name and they said from some sort of search of related persons.

- SaiI have received 3 calls from them. I have hung up every time. My mom passed away in January. She had a couple of small credit card bills, that we are not liable for, per our lawyer. I have sent letters to the credit card companies that she has passed away and there is no estate. Now i am getting calls.

- Barbara BennettI am receiving calls from this company that is being accused of harrassing family members of deceased persons. I have done some research and as far as I can tell they are scamming people into thinking they must pay debts that they legally are not responsible for.

- GinaGot contacted by Ascension Point this morning. My father passed less than a month ago and so far all we've done is retain a lawyer. The lady on the other end of the phone was nice, but she'd first told my husband she was calling about the final details of my Dad. To me, it could have been our lawyer, or to pick up my Dad's ashes. Anyway. We did go through his bills, and he does have a small account that is not in arrears. We'd called the company he owes to try to go ahead and pay it off, we just didn't know what the final payoff was for sure and didn't know if he had that insurance that paid off the bill if he should pass. They said they would have their probate department call us. We were waiting for that. The lady asked for his ss# and I didn't give it. It started to occur to me that this didn't feel right, since we had made the first move to take care of the bill (less than $300), but didn't know why it would go to collections when it wasn't behind. She'd given me a number to call back with the info she requested. I called our lawyer and gave him all HER contact info so it can be dealt with the right way. I'm glad my "feelers" were up.

- Deb replies to BobI got a call today from Ascension Point about a deceased John Smith...my older brother was a John Smith & he passed away last December, but I'm not a representative of the estate, so I just took a message to give to my sister-in-law and it was to call Jordan at 888-806-9074, ext. 4083.
My brother lived in NM, I live in KS and my sister-in-law is moving back to the east coast. I wouldn't know which state's AG to contact.
I'm so glad I looked the company up and found this website--I definitely won't be giving my S-I-L the message! - AliWich replies to Texas AttorneyThank you for this useful information. I received a call from them and now a letter to call. I just lost my husband almost 2months ago. Dang, the crooks work fast.
- AliWich replies to amkake| 1 replyTell them to stop calling, Get the name of the person you are talking to or have their telephone # blocked. Just my suggestions. Good Luck.
- DannyMy wife and I received a call from this company while we were out. The message they left stated they were trying to get in touch with someone who could discuss the estate of my wifes late ex-husband. There are a couple of issues with this - first she has had no contact with this man for more than 9 years and second - he's not even dead. When my wife returned their call the rep was very rude and would not explain why they were calling. It wasn't until she let her kids know about their former step-dad that one of them did some digging and found out about this scam. I really hope someone can do something about this bogus company.

- kh replies to NEWTgot a letter today with same contact details also signed by the same person---if that is her real name; called a trusted financial advisor and was told not to give these people any information by mail or by phone; financial advisor will investigate but said it seemed like a phishing operation.
- J ParkerHere's a good one, my daughter in Kansas received the call about her sisters father in law who died 11 years ago, and I received a call in Va. About his father who died 20 years ago, now that's a reach. The only way I can figure they can make any connections is thru sites like Ansestry .com.

- J Parker replies to ascension pointYou have to admit that it is a bit of a stretch to contact an in law of an in law of an in law that has never met the person deceased over 20 years. Get a life!
- owner of old houseWe bought the house a year ago. They used whatever internet resources and found our telephone number and asked to speak to the former owner. OMG that person is DEAD = We only know this because the neighbors told us that the owner moved to Florida, and then died from cancer.
HOW Can a collection agency be so incredibly DUMB that they don't look in the papers for the Obituaries before they start to harass the new owners of the person who is no deceased to try and collect money from us to pay the bills of a TOTAL STRANGER !!!!!!
And they called back until we threatened LEGAL action.. WHat is wrong with these money collectors????/ OMG. We are NOT paying someone else's bills !!!!!!!!!! What is with these idiots
Is there NO PROTECTION for us, the people who bought a house but have NO IDEA who what or why about the owners?
NOW they have connected OUR PRIVATE TELEPHONE NUMBER with a person who is deceased, and we are now most likely going to be inundated with more calls from credit collectors ???????????- Caller: Acsencsion
