- ELNORAOld thread; same problem ; just in case i can help anyone, this has happened to us. They called less than a week after our father died. He wasn't dead enough to have collections. He also had no debt!!!!! So i turned the tables and started calling them. Every minute for over 2 hours until they actually blocked my number. I politely notified them several times how much they sucked, and how they were the scum of the earth. If i got the same rep, i reminded them again incase they forgot. It ended up turning into an amusing night for me and my family.

- PattiAscension Point is a complete scam. They state right in their disclosure statement that you are not responsible for paying this debt but then they turn around and ask how you'd like to make the payment, would I like to pay in full? The guy was so rude, once I started asking him questions about why they continue to harass myself and my siblings, for a debt that they know was my deceased father's, then he no longer wanted to talk to me. He said "okay, we are done, there is nothing else". He actually thought he was going to hang up without me giving him an ear full. I don't know how people sleep at night when they work for companies like this.

- UtpeRecently, a relative of mine had passed away about three months ago and I received a call twice within the same day from this agency. They were looking to collect on a debt in excess of $2,700+.
After the standard notification that the call was being monitored and recorded, they first explained to me that nobody is responsible for paying the deceased's debt(s) by law and that this was just merely an attempt at doing so. They then asked me to verify my name and the date of death of the deceased.
Having done so, I explained to the guy that there were no administrators, executors, probate/probate proceedings and, absolutely no assets of/belonging to the deceased. I was then informed that they would be sending me two letters in the mail confirming that they could not collect the debt due to the above circumstances.
Fortunately, I had lucked out on the second call and received somebody who was actually polite. Most of the time, these bottom-feeders will try to threaten, intimidate and harass you over the phone until somebody at some point settles the outstanding debt(s), usually involving immediate family members.
So far, I have not received any additional calls. Hopefully this is the end of this particular agency trying to collect a debt on a deceased relative.- Caller: AscensionPoint Recovery Services, LLC

- JuneAscension Point Recovery Services, LLC (“APRS”) - 1 (888) 806-9073 ext 2097 Forget her name she was very nice. She called to collect a debt for a deceased relative. Collection from someone who had nothing in probate and no executor of the nonexistent estate but LOTS of DEBT!! Thousands of dollars - they will keep calling and leaving msgs for at least a year and a few months. The calls will remain unanswered or returned and any letters trashed. The relative is dead and no estate to attach the debt to and no one who will pay it.

- ldp54| 1 replyCalls came through several months after my husband's death. Asking to speak to someone who had the authority to talk to them about his estate. She claimed there were unpaid debts. Told her I get all the mail and every bill gets paid when it is supposed to get paid and there were no outstanding debts. She insisted that there were. I called my attorney and he told me to just ignore them. After several more calls from them I asked to talk to this person's supervisor. Someone else came on the line and reassured me that they were a legitimate company - (they even had a BBB logo on their site). I told her I believed that she thought they were a legitimate company - but I wanted her to go home that night and Google the company name - when it came up I wanted her to scroll down to the phone # she was calling from and then to read the "miles" and "miles" of complaints about Ascension Point - going back several years and then tell me if she believes they are legitimate. I never heard from them again. I also called all other family members to warn them about this.

- What the...?A completely estranged mother-in-law died in 2015 at the age of 86 and "whitney" called today looking for someone who is responsible for her financial matters. LOL!!! I told her, "Good luck with that!" and hung up. There are sturdy reasons that I have had nothing to do with that family for years. Sure would like to know how "Ascension Point" got my phone number, though.

- What the...? replies to ldp54That is a terrific solution! I laughed! I once did a similar thing to someone from Verizon - who I didn't know was from Verizon - who called every other day right after lunch time. She thought nothing of this, until I let her know that there were dozens of people across the Internet complaining about her telemarketing! Never heard from her again.
