I got the same call to clean up unwanted files in my computer.  They wanted acess to my computer and that Microsoft had authorized.  Sounded bad.  Used high pressure selling to get me to allow him access.  They knew I was on line.

I got a weird call saying that another windows user had complained about a virus and that they could walk me through things so that I would be able to open my emails and other files.  It sounded weird - when I asked how they got my number all they said was that I was a windows users and repeated the story.  When I said I was not near my computer they said they would call back tomorrow - I'll not let them in my system then either!

Got the same call saying my computer was downloading viruses and I needed to follow his derections to fix the problem.  Asked his name and Number and who the company was, said it was One Stop ERK, and his name was Jack William from new York.  He had a very strong indian or middle eastern accent.

Got a call from them. The caller id was unknown name, unknown number. the guy had a strong Indian accent. Wanted to remove 'unwanted files' and help 'clean up my computer' and wanted access to my computer. I said that I'd be too busy and that I'd rather wait until later. When I said that, he said to call him back at this number: 1-888-541-1650 and to ask for Adam. I'm NOT calling him back, that's for sure.

why is the admin itself is marking the message which are in the favor of the company as Admin Edit: "It's a SUSPECT message!"....strange...i guess the admin himself is superimposing the blame on this company..

They are marked as suspect messages because they are very likely false statements posted by the company themselves posing as a "satisfied customer".  The poor grammar and awkward phrasing is a clear giveaway since the callers running this scam are all located outside the US or Canada where English is not their native language.

Tech support companies do not call you out of the blue and it is not possible for them to know in advance whether there are any problems with your computer.  Microsoft also does not call unless you call them and request a call back and also does not hire third parties to perform tech support.  Almost everything these callers say is a lie.

Finally since this is not a site that hosts reviews of companies, there is no logical reason for customers to come here and post positive messages. The sole purpose of this site is to help determine the identification of unknown callers and the purpose of the call.

I received a call from 23456789; they said this is a "CHECKUP CALL" in broken English. Meaning, this is a) an uncsolicited sales call, or worse, b) could open a door to a scam...
