Same thing, message says "saw my resume on line, blah, blah, blah.  No legitimate company looking to hire, would leave a message with no company name or contact person.  What do we do?

I have been focusing really hard on finding another positin and I have applied to numerous companies.  I received a call saying my resume looked great and they are interested in setting up an interview...please call the number to schedule.  These bogus calls are very depressing b/c as soon as you think you have something legit that could help change your life around, you find out that it is someone deceiving you.  The message did not include a company name, job title or location.  It only included a number to set up an interview.

I got the same call just a few minutes ago. I called the 888 number and it asked me to put the area code of locations nearby that I can apply to...I tried but there wasn't a location near to the place where I applied for a job. That's when my flags went up and decided to research. Seeing everyone's testimony it must be a fake.

I just got the call and realize its obviously phony. But I have to ask: everyone is saying it is a "scam" and how low these people are. What is the scam? What do they gain from it? Does anyone know?
The scam is they get people to call an answering machine and then people hang up? I dont get it. Just trying to see the idea behind it.

    Anybody know?

I recieved a call on my mobile phone from 972-200-9825 just a few minutes ago.  I Googled the area code and it is from Quatar in the Middle East.  I've actually been to Quatar, however, I did not leave a resume there.  The same message as that has been reported here, leaving a call back number of 1-888-673-4109 and that is how I found this site.

Needless to say, I'll not call that number.

Wow, the vultures are out in force this month!  I got the exact same call here; and we ARE actively searching for jobs but not here (North Carolina) nor in TX, where this call allegedly originated.  Our resume is being sent south to Florida only.  I've been in sales before - I sold Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles - and believe me, if auto salespeople are the bottom of the barrel, the Liberty Mutual salespeople are the sludge stuck to the underside.  You couldn't pay me enough to even CONSIDER signing on with a company like that.  I am going to call them back, but only to inform them that I have absolutely no interest in anything they have to say and to firmly request immediate and permanent removal from their list.  Derfwads.

Got one yesterday on my cell phone (Jan 25th).  Regarding resume and call back to schedule an appt. for an interview.  I have worked in HR for a long time and never heard of a company doing this "professionally".  I won't be calling back!

Today is January 26, 2010 and it is 8-30 p.m and I just received a message in my home phone's answering machine asking me call 1-888-673-4109 to schedule an interview this week since my resume has been accepted.  Should I call this number?  I just googled the number to see which Company is this? who have responded, since I have made an application to a bunch of different companies.

I see on google that so many of you have received similar calls from this number and I am so confused. Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Shabir Khan.

I got the same call. People shouldn't post any resume on the internet. Just go to the website of the place you would like to work and email your resume to the contact address they give you. That is how I found several jobs: Monster, Career Builder, etc. Those do not help you if they are giving out information. Just like banks, they sell your information.

Legitimacy's inversely proportional to details provided. Some places wait till training to explain but at least give you real contacts and a general idea at the outset. These people called without the integrity of personal or company names. Automated woman 1/18/10, 7:31 p.m. EST, to cell number on my online resume and mattmediafla.com: "Your resume has been received by our company, and we believe you have the skills and abilities to be successful. We're hiring, and would like to discuss the possibility of scheduling an interview with you this week. To schedule an interview, call us at 1-888-673-4109. Have a great day." I deleted.

Look guys, if someone or thing (automated) is going to call you with some rediculous pre-recorded message without even telling you who they are or anything, it's obviously a load of bull. I mean a real, true professional company would contact you properly during normal business hours. THOSE are the ones you want to be working for. No longer consider this rubbish and let's get our unemployed butts out there and find some real work!
    :)
