- JTIt's a call centre for Globe & Mail newspaper. Very friendly at first but rude when I said I didn't want their newspaper or even liked it!!

- Stop Telemarketers| 2 repliesSeriously, if you want to stop telemarketers when they call you offer them a decent paying job! There are allot of talented sales people who work in these call centres who were just not given an opportunity anywhere else. There are also people who want to learn but are not given the opportunity because management chooses the person with the most experience over somebody who needs to get a foot in the door. Call centre reps do not like calling you over and over again they are just doing their job, they have to eat too like anyone else.
- Elspeth replies to Stop TelemarketersThe telemarketers are calling individuals, not companies. If they want a job, they should call companies who are hiring, not people who don't want calls about paper subscriptions!
- jayJust got a call from this number, but don't answer 1-8xx numbers so have no idea if it was G & M telemarketers or not.

- MartyWe've gotten several calls from this number all the times we've bothered to answer they've identified themselves as the PC Bank. Its always to try and get us to sign up for a new bank account or new credit card. The odd part is no one here has ever banked with them in anyway so they really have no reason to call.
- Caller: claimed to be PC bank
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Stephen HarperAlexander Graham Bell would be annoyed to see how his invention is being (mis)used

- MidtownAm in Toronto. I blocked this number in April of last year (2012) due to continuing calls. In June of last year (2012) the calls started again - though none got through due to call block feature on my Panasonic phone. As of today, the calls started again - so must take them a year or so to cycle through all their numbers. If this is actually a company calling for the Globe and Mail, then you should all know that newspapers are exempt from the DNCL, though I have no idea why they get this special treatment - must have a large lobby group??
- Caller: Not stated - telemarketer
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JoThis number has called me numerous times but I never answered because I assumed it was a telemarketer. The odd times I did answer, I informed them I was on the (useless) DNCL and to stop calling. Just got another call and gave the guy an earful. I also just tried to report them to the CRTC and after I had entered all my information on the complaint form, at the very end they provide a list of exemptions on which newspapers are listed. They went on to say that my complaint will not be investigated, but if I agreed they would keep the information on file. I just clicked "cancel". It seems that you just can't win with telemarketers, the DNCL, or the CRTC. They do not feel we are entitled to peace in our own homes. Next election, I will vote for anyone who hates telemarketers as much as I do and vows to wipe off them face of the earth.
- Caller: Globe and Mail newspaper
- Call type: Telemarketer
- TelehaterThe easiest job in Canada? Chairperson of the CRTC. Where do I sign up?

- JDH replies to GolferBillI called the number as you did and hit one as well, but as soon as the next steps involved me giving them more info I hung up. I too thought its just another way to give them more info so they can try and scam me other ways or share my personal info. I picked it up yesterday the first time they phoned that day and I told the girl to take me off their list she said she would...but they have phoned back twice today. i think this place is calling from info I have given in an online registration that may have given them permission to share info in the small print, cause they are in Toronto I live 5 hours away. I also believe they are just a telemarketing group that takes on contracts for other companies the girl yesterday said they were contracted by Bell to offer special rates. I think it is either that or they are just a scam trying to get more info using familiar company names and products as one of the first comments claims they were offering the Globe and Mail.
- CRTC is uselessThis # called recently (I would never exactly say *when* on this forum - but within the last month) but as with all numbers I do not recognize, I didn't answer. On the odd time when I do pick up I wait to make sure there is someone at the other end and then there are two options: one is the referee's whistle I keep by the phone and the other is just to say "It's done! But there's blood EVERYWHERE!" and then hang up.

The computer is calling me on Sunday. - Stop Calling PleaseThis # called again today. I never answer it. If this is some company's marketing strategy it's a pretty bad one.
