Alfalfa replies to Really? Deceased people?
I hear you---and know what you are going through. Phillips and Cohen began calling less than three weeks after my BIL died---and continued to call for a year after my sister wrote and told them her husband died with no assets or estate (he was penniless), and she was not legally responsible for his debts as we live in a non-community property law state. They have no heart OR soul.

    Sorry for your loss.

    Really? You see dead people?
After getting a call from them yesterday, and 6 calls from them today, and posting about them, I decided to answer the call from Louis (Loo-ees) Blah de Blah Martinez or something.
This was SO much fun! First of all, when they tell you they're recording the call, tell them YOU'RE recording the call as well for your records and attorney. I got hung up on on that one. So, deciding to be a brat, I called them back. They asked what I was calling in reference to (really ~ you called me first) and then told me I was being recorded. I told them I was recording them back ~ got put on hold for over 6 minutes before I hung up. Third call ~ told the gal Megan Johnson I was recording the ghouls for my purposes and attorney and she said she was going to put me on hold to get a supervisor. I told her I'd already been thru that and this time I'd better get a person and not just schluffed off. Finally got to a supervisor and asked why I was being called about a supposed debt from my RECENTLY deceased estranged mother. I haven't even gotten her cremains or any information about her estate and yet these yahoos are already all over supposed family members. I told him if he was a legit company, he wouldn't be hassling bereaving people and would send out a legit collection letter stating who the debt was for, how they obtained the debt (they don't like revealing that because it's usually obtained by buying it from another company who may or may not have had an old debt on someone) and why they think I would be responsible for this supposed debt. The 'supervisor' really did not like anything I had to say and finally said he was sorry. But, because I was recording him, he couldn't hang up and I made sure to be super 'nice' to him while insulting his profession and integrity.
So, when these ghouls and grave diggers call, tell them you're recording them and that you require a legitimate letter stating who they are, who the debt is on behalf of, how THEY got the debt (they don't like that) and why you're responsible. Also tell them they are not allowed to call any supposed, presumed or alleged family members until this information has been received and reviewed and responded to.

I just received that letter asking to contact these people, and they were expressing sympathy.  My sister in law received the phone calls three days ago and gave me the message.  I'm so glad you have all put your experiences in here...Thank you!  I have no intention of returning their call or responding to their letter. I would really like for these people to be stopped!!!

Travis from Ascension point has been leaving daily messages to my deceased mother's phone trying to reach my brother about my mother's estate. He calls from 1-888-806-9074 extension 4075. My brother doesn't know how to check the messages, only I can. I can say they don't call on the weekends. My mother left know debts. I'm not even giving him the messages. I have googled the company and read reports that it's a scam. I don't want my brother to have to deal with this. We've been through enough. How can we stop the calls?

Dawn Laconia called on 10/22/15 asking for person in charge of my deceased mother's estate. My brother took the information as he was not that person. I called the following day for more info. Dawn was not available so I spoke to Keo who said that the call was in reference to an outstanding debt that she could not disclose until I verified my mother's date of death. I declined to give any information and said I had not received any official documents by mail. She said those documents were mailed out yesterday.

I got a calll from Gina. She wanted to know about my deseased father in law. She wouldn't tell me anything. She wanted to speak to my wife. I looked it up on the internet and found out they are a collection company. We don't owe anyone a thing. If my father in law does, I am not responsible for his personal  matters. Don have them call me again. They were rude.

I got a call from these guys. Actually there were 4 calls a day for 5 days straight.  I finally got fed up and answered. Got put through the same process as others have stated here. Talked to the Stupidvisor finally and asked for the EXACT name and Social Security number on the debt they were calling about. Also asked for the account company.  They had the right name, the WRONG Social Security number and the WRONG age of the debtor.  MY dad had been dead for over a year and a half and I know for a fact he didn't have the account they were calling about.   OBVIOUSLY they had the WRONG person.  So fast forward to last week. I get a letter from them saying how sorry they are my dad is dead and they STILL WANT ME/my dad's estate to PAY this debt.    The calls have started again as of Monday.  It's up to THEM to get the correct information and call the right person.   I think they get paid by the phone calls made PLUS whatever they can collect.  You want a debt PAID provide the documents that prove the debt is related to the people you are calling.   If the data is WRONG, stop calling.

I'm not dead! They falsely reported me dead to Synchrony Bank who promptly cancelled two credit cards causing embarrassment and inconvenience. Within a week, they called my family trying to collect unpaid balances that were not overdue. They then sent me a letter telling me I'm dead and my estate needs to pay outstanding bills. This looks like fraud to me and I recommend companies not use them for decedent debt collection.

This company specializes in getting ahold of anyone they think might have some interest in the estate of a deceased person,  in an attempt to collect a debt the deceased might have owed.

In my opinion this is just  a legalized debt scam.

Fact is, depending on the state where the deceased died, payment of the deceased's debts is the duty of an executor or administrator.  And that's only if there are enough assets in the estate to pay them.

But this company doesn't care, they continually try to contact relatives of the deceased in an attempt to somehow (psychologically ) strong-arm the relative to pay the debts of the deceased even though the relative is not liable.

Sad to say, they make a lot of money and are quite successful financially doing this.

They sometimes use deception to make a person think he or she  IS responsible.  Don't fall for it.

Same thing. Asked for my deceased father. Called from Century Point trying to collect a debt. Which there's none. Insisted to "verify" they were talking to an authorized representative, which I am, and still didn't want to discuss the reference of the supposed debt. Asked info about my fathere like DOB and such to which I refused to answer. They'd send the request in writing but didn't ask for my address. SCAM!!!

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER BACK! It's a scam. Received a voicemail asking to speak to whoever handles the financial responsibilities for my deceased father (they stated his full name too, and we don't have a common last name). This scared me so much because I had just spoke to my father today! Of course I immediately called him after I heard this voicemail and he is okay. So this is obviously a scam.
