Received call from 914-595-6462 saying there was a lawsuit being filed against us.  Knew it was a scam because we recently successfully filed our taxes and have had a clean credit check.  I call shenanigans.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Left message stating that they were the IRS and it was a final notice and would be  filing a law suit against me. Informed to call the number back immediately.

Yes I received robo phone call on Apr. 9th from 914-595-6462. They claimed to be IRS and were filing
lawsuit claim against me and for me to call them back.  BEWARE SCAM

I got a robo call today (04/09/2015) from 914-595-6462 stating that they the  IRS  had been trying to get in touch & that they IRS was filing suit against me.. & that I should call the above #. I got a message from the phone Co.statingthat the # was NOT in service.. Then later I tried the # again & it rang & rang & rang, NO answer, no messagemachine. so I just hung up..

Got the same message, and it said that it was trying to contact me.
1. No attempt was made to call me previously
2. Usually when the IRS has an issue with you, they start with a letter
3. Caller ID came up as "Private".  The last time the IRS called me about something else, Internal Revenue Service" actually came up in the caller ID
4. When I called, some woman with a thick accent from India answered.  Something didn't sit right, I figured I'd look them up here first before I hand out my SSN to them. I told her I'll call her back and hung up.

Jeez, I can't believe them, it's just one scam after another.  First with the PC, now with the IRS. It just doesn't stop.  Somebody needs to arrest them and throw away the key.

Message said they were from "the IRS, Internal Revenue Service, and that this was my last call before they file suit for unpaid taxes."

At 1:00 I got a unavailable call..I missed it n when I listened to message it also told me it was the irs..left 914-595-6462 for me to call back...really? I don't file taxes..I'm on ssi...so again really

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Same IRS msg. I guess it doesn't matter that I'm registered on the Do Not Call list or robo calls can get around that. That the elderly and immigrants have lost money to these disgusting scammers is heartbreaking.

Received an automated call from 9145956462 claiming to be the IRS said it was a final notice before filing a lawsuit against me. I didn't call back because it was not specific as to who the call was intended for.  I googled the number and came upon this page.

I also received this same exact message.Stated that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and that it was my final notice.Dont fall for it.Total. Scam.

I called back and they said they would not sue me if I sent them a check for $5000.00, so I quickly decided to just pay them right then and there with my credit card. I knew it was official when they needed my SSN and bank information, so I gladly gave that up too. Now I know I will not be sued and am sleeping better at night.

Same as others filing IRS suit, call them back.
I have reported the to the dept. Of treasury website and local police.  I urge all to do so as it may be more effective than posting.

I worked for a big tax firm for 20yrs and the IRS does not call you they send certified letters. And they also let you pay your back taxes in installment payments. I went down to the IRS many times with clients for audits and not one time have they ever called, even if the taxpayer has not paid in 5 or 6 years the IRS notifies them by mail.

Just the same as everyone else's - I did not speak to them OR bother to call back!  Gosh, they should do something productive with their lives!

Got this voice message on Saturday(!) Been trying to reach me (BS), final notice from the IRS, that they are suing me, blah blah, blah, Called the number 914 595 6462 the next day and got an immediate message after one ring that the person was not available...and the accent was English! My wife called back the next day and she said that it sounded like she woke up whoever it was that answered...probably because they're in India! My accountant verified that the IRS NEVER contacts people by phone, so don't ever fall for this scam.
